So, apparently the term "hermaphrodite" is no longer the PC term for people of both genders. The correct term is now "intersex", because that's not vague and confusing at all.
Yes folks, hermaphrodite is another one of those formerly-acceptable terms that's now become retroactively offensive? I liked "hermaphrodite", too. It had origins in Greek mythology and stuff. I thought it sounded classy!.
Ah, well. In ten years or so, when "intersex" becomes a nasty pejorative that the trans community no longer considers acceptable, maybe we'll get a better replacement word.

I haven't heard that. Hermaphrodite sounds fine to me. Why do they find it offensive? There must be a reason.

I thought it was just another word with the same meaning. Like homosexual and gay/lesbian.

I mean really, hermaphrodite is just a better word. Or we could all use the German word for it, zwitter (pronounced zweeter).

If someone prefers to be called one for some reason I'll gladly change my vocabulary. I'm just not sure what the difference is.

Intersex sounds like you have two of the same sexual organs and they are having sex with each other... like some weird a** Japanese porn s**t. Comic prefers the first term as well is where he is going with this.

Personally, reference to Greek mythology > word that literally means "between sexes".

I just don't know of any reason people would prefer one over the other. Really, it's their choice. They're the ones who are going to get called that.

Although, really, I think being called "intersex" would be more offensive, since it's implying that hermaphrodites aren't they're own sex but stuck somewhere in between male and female.

I still vote that it sounds like a bad hentai plot...then again Hentai doesn't have any good ones Click here
