It was a beautiful day. The sky was a vivid blue, with just enough traces of cloud to keep the bright warm sun from being overpowering. A faint breeze kept the air fresh and cool enough to offset the heat of the day. The faint sweet smell of flowers blooming around the small watering hole was stirred by the small breaths of wind, and a few birds sang with the joy of life on such a lovely afternoon from the rich lush trees.

Aiko was a tough, fierce young female. It was true that she was a flirt, true that she loved to fall in love and out of it again overnight. She loved the game, loved the rush, loved to find the beauty of others and hear her own praises sighed into her ears. Her brother didn’t seem to care, didn’t understand. He was so stiff, he couldn’t possibly understand the matters of the heart and soul and mind that Aiko played with in such great joy. Charm worked so many more wonders that standoffish manners and bared fangs. Her brothers didn’t see. Some of those she’d danced through the game of love did, or at the least they caught a glimpse or two while her presence dazzled and swept them away.

But Nana, he insisted upon stifling her. Trying to keep her under control, his control. She tired of it. Ever since they’d joined the pride she’d found her spot, the place where she fit in so happily. And all big brother did was try to ruin it. Try to make her do something else, calling her names and snarling with disapproval. Her choices, her job, her joys, her heart, everything she was he disapproved of and tried to remove. Well, he couldn’t keep her under his paw, no way no how.

So, as much as she loved the Kuroi’Nera, she’d needed a break. A chance to get away from her ‘boss’ of a brother and see the sky rolling on and away over the endless world. She was too happy to let him spoil it now. Dysi was hers, and there was nothing anyone could do about her precious secret now. It was hers, all hers, and she was happy. Nana wouldn’t spoil anything if he didn’t know where she was. Not that he’d know what she’d done now. But he liked so to spoil everything in general. No need to risk it now.

Yuki had her paws full recently. Eun Mi, her and Mei's mother, had done it again. Another litter when she already had seven cubs of her own. Sure the seven were all grown enough now that they could fend for them selves and Eun Mi had raised at least five in the saftey of a pride. But Yuki had a distaste in her mouth still about the whole thing.

The big reason being that Yuki had been one of the two turned away from her mother when she was young. Yuki and one of her sisters were sent over to live with their father Mauja. Not a bad life but Yuki had grown up always wanting to meet her mother. When that chance came all Eun Mi wanted was to pawn off another little girl.

Okay Eun Mi had her reasons for everything and Yuki knew this but it still didnt take the hurt away. And now Yuki had under her care a younger sister.

Yuki was curled around her younger darker sister like a protector of some kind. Yuki would keep her sister safe.

Mei snoozed between her sisters paws. She had no care in the world as she slept.

Padding along, enjoying the weather and lack of big brother looming, Aiko was content on her own for a nice change. Usually she got so very lonely, but not today. Oh no, today her silky black paws were treading upon sunbeams and fluffy white clouds, that was for certain.

Still, when her sharp violet eyes landed on a young cheetah like herself curled up not far away at all, her pawsteps carried her straight in their direction.

"Hello there," she called, her good mood beaming all around her. Nothing could bring her down today... "Aw, a cub!" Aiko crooned, coming another step closer but managing to stop herself a decent distance away. Just in case, she wouldn't want a mother mauling her for admiring her baby. Though...the little black cub didn't much resemble the pretty white girl curled up around her.

Yuki lifted her head up to see another cheetah heading right toward her. A brow lifted but she really didn't question why. The two were both cheetah after all so Yuki ruled out any attempts at eating her or the cub.

The stranger had a very pretty dark coat and could be more so Mei's mother then either Eun Mi or Yuki who both were blue.

"Hello," Yuki blinked at the other female. She seemed nice enough.

Mei did not stir from her slumber. She continued to snooze peacefully for the time being at least.

At the other's greeting, albiet seemed perhaps a bit cautious, Aiko sat where she'd been standing a few feet away, her spotty tail curling softly around her paws. The white and blue cheetah looked a good bit younger than she was, though not by too much. The black cub though, she looked like she must have been born not so long ago. Probably took after her father, she was so dark in comparison to the other's pale coat.

"My name is Aiko," she introduced herself warmly, she loved cubs. She wanted some of her own, though they hadn't happened yet. Still...to be out here all alone with a cub to look after...it must be rough. Unless she wasn't alone. "Are you two all alone out here?" she asked, curious and concerned. It was probably so hard to raise a little one by herself.

Yuki offered a smile at the new stranger. She seemed nice enough after all having given her name. Yuki felt a bit at ease.

"Im Yuki Onna and this is Mei," She nuzzled the sleeping black cub softly so as not to wake her. "Yes we're alone."

The question wasn't a strange one. It was a question she got commonly it seemed. Usually Yuki was mistaken for the cubs mother. It was odd she supposed for her to be raising her sister on her own. She could understand where others would make such a mistake.

Aiko smiled brightly back, Yuki Onna seemed a little cautious, but not nearly unfriendly. She had good reason to be cautious after all, there were lots of dangers out here. Aiko had had numerous near-misses growing up and even after she'd grown. It would be dangerous for a youngster out here. Not that she and her brothers hadn't managed, but even she didn't fault Nana's choice of bringing them to a...pride.

"Mei is very sweet," Aiko crooned, admiring the little black cub from her safe distance before looking back up at Yuki. "I'm from a pride," she told the young white cheetah quietly, "It's secret, and safe." But very secretive. She couldn't tell the girl much unless she was going to come back and join for sure.

Yukis ears flicked, a pride? Eun Mei was in a pride... was this one of her pride mates here approaching her? Yuki didn't know but if she was then it would be best if she left now. Yuki wanted nothing more to do with her mother at the moment.

The female felt her heart blacken for just a moment at the thoughts of her mother and how she gave up Mei to her. How she even gave her up. Sure she'd taken five of the seven cubs. Sure. But two she'd left and now there was Mei who was the third. What would have happened if their father wasn't there to take care of them. What would happen if Yuki wasn't there for Mei? Would they have been left to die?

Yuki shook the thoughts from her head returning to earth. There were many prides. It was likely this one wasn't the one Eun Mi and her other brothers and sisters lived in. Very likely.

"Safe and secretive.. can you tell me more ?" She had to be sure it wasn't what was thinking. There was no way she could live in a pride near her mother.

Mei stirred some more like she was having some sort of dream. Her feet kicked up and she smacked her lips. The cub turned on her side.

Aiko tipped her head, a faintly puzzled expression flitting across her features at the way the pretty young cheetah shook her head. Was that a 'no' then? Or was she trying to clear some less than pleasant thought from her mind? Or...huh. Well, whatever, her business.

"Well..." Aiko said slowly, "I'm...not sure how much I can tell you. It is secretive. But my brothers and I live there, and there are all kinds of positions so I'm sure you'd find a place to fit in. Anything from warriors to people who look after the young, I'm sure there would be someplace for a cheetah like you there."

She didn't know how to go about this recruiting thing, didn't know how to invite someone back to the pride without telling them what it was like. Well...there wasn't anything she could see to dislike, aside from the massive amounts of secrets. And the limitations on leaving...well. She'd mention those last, only if she was certain that Yuki wanted to come.

Yuki lifted a brow. A cheetah like her. Sounded interesting. What was this cheetah going on about though... Yuki couldn't really completely understand what was being offered. A pride sure but there were a ton of prides. There were prides that had bizarre traditions and prides that were peaceful and prides that were hateful. Then there was where her mother was.

A shiver was sent down her spine. Why had she not wanted Mei to stay with her. Yukis eyes darted down to Mei who returned her sisters gaze with a smile. Yuki smiled and looked back up.

"Im not sure if I follow honestly.. I can't blindly agree to something you see. Not when I m looking after not only my life but Mei's as well," She offered the stranger a smile hoping she'd understand where her stance was.

Aiko's tail lashed, her brow furrowed in thought. "No, of course you can't follow blindly," she muttered, still frowning, "But I can't tell you everything because it's secret. Uh..."

Great. Now what was she supposed to do and say? It was so...this was...guh. How did she bring someone new into the pride when she couldn't tell anyone about the pride? It was...so confusing...

"Well. I can say...it's secretive. And it is safe. And there would be a place for you there, fighting or looking after little ones, or whatever it is you do best. And... ... is... is her father a lion?" Aiko asked suddenly, her indigo eyes drawn sharply to the tuft of fur at the end of the little black cub's tail. That...that might be a problem...

PostPosted: Sun Jun 13, 2010 7:54 pm

Yuki frowned at the fact it was a secret. It unsettled her in all honesty that this cheetah couldn't just tell her what she was going on about. For all she knew this other female could be luring her into a trap of some sort. Maybe she was a slave collector or worse.

"Im sorry, I understand it needs to be a secret but I dont feel.. comfortable about all this.. secret business..." It was the truth it felt sketchy that it had to be a secret.

The cheetah lifted a brow at the second question.

"Yeah we believe her father was a lion. Why, is that important?"

Aiko sighed, ears laying back for a moment as she shook her head. She herself had no problem with lions, she'd met quite a few that she liked, and while some of them had been kind of awful, it was about the same as any other species. She knew they were bigger, and that Nyoka didn't like them because they could be stronger, but...still...

"Well...it's just...the pride...doesn't like lions much..." Aiko confessed quietly. "You'd be fine, but she'd probably get stuck in...really low ranks. I...I don't think..." she hesitated, shuffling her paws in the dirt. "Maybe my pride isn't any good for you after all..."

Now she just felt bad. At least she hadn't given away anything important, but...still. Poor little Mei, it wasn't her fault who her father was. It didn't seem fair at all, she looked so sweet and cute. "I'm sorry..."

PostPosted: Thu Jun 17, 2010 4:13 am

Yuki tilted her head at Aiko. She'd not given away anything really so Yuki only could maybe assume and maybe even hope her mother was part of said pride. Maybe this was the reason she gave up Mei. Most of her really hoped this was the reason her mother didn't take her own cub.

"Please don't be sorry," Yuki smiled. She liked this cheetah alot. She was a sweet, "Don't worry about us. I'm a tough girl and Mei's no trouble at all." She gave her an awkward smile. It was kind of her to offer at least and warn her the little Mei would not be accepted as an equal in the pride.

Still there was no proof that this was her mothers pride. Yuki could only be hopeful. She refrained from asking more questions though since the other female had stated it was to be a secret. The cheetah could respect that.

"Well us wanders should probably get a move on here. Thank you for the offer and warning," Yuki gave her another smile, less awkward this time.

Little did Yuki know , little Mei was a seer as her father had been a god. Mei wasn't even aware of this. She'd never had a vision and she'd never spoken.

"Oh, I'm certain you are," Aiko agreed when Yuki claimed she was a tough girl. Raising a little one all alone, and so young too! Aiko wished she could have taken the both of them home with her...the word was an unfamiliar one, but...it was nice. She liked to have a 'home' to return to. So long as it didn't fetter her down! Like Nana seemed insistent upon...well. She'd show him how 'tying her down' worked! Haha, she was going to have herself some fun while she was out here...

But she'd have given up this moment of freedom in a second to help the youngsters out. Woah, 'youngsters'? Since when was she old?

"Yeah, probably should..." the cheetah sighed, "You aren't too close now, but I don't think you want to make the mistake of crossing into the territory if you do not wish to join." Not everyone liked lions, and freedom, as much as Aiko did. "Actually, I'm rather fond of lions myself. Met a really sweet one once. She's pale, kinda tanish sort of? With bright gold spots, if you see her she'll probably be happy to help you. Just don't eat that hare she's got with her." Aiko advised, happy to at least offer some tidbit for the pair.
