User ImageCoeur sighed, daintily she lay in the shade as the morning began to turn. Not much in the interest of fun had come her way, and about that she was disappointed. She rolled around onto her back, she sighed again. The delicate colored female cast her silver eyes on the plains, listlessly waiting and hoping for something to come her way. Hopefully something four-legged, lion, and cute, would be best. But she was as picky as she was bored.

Bwana had slipped away from his guard and servant, just taking a moment to be by himself, thinking about the journey ahead of him. Getting back to his pride after leaving it to his terrible, unfit father was a daunting task indeed. He wasn't even completely sure what was going to happen once he got home. Would they even want him back? Sighing softly, he moved over the terrain, one deep purple paw in front of the other. He noticed a female lying in front of him not ten feet away, his head tilting to one side at the sight. She looked bored. Maybe even as bored as he was feeling.

Coeur turned her head, her eyes glinting as they came to rest on a large, purple male. It was another moment of examination before a smile crossed her maw. Now here was something! Blinking daintily in his direction, her tail crossed over her back legs and her front paws were crossed. A gentle smile was just as alluring before she turned her back to him again. It was a game to her, and the lure was the best part. He would approach her now, wouldn't he? Well... She sure hoped so! She was irresistible! Wasn't she? The lioness didn't doubt her tactics for an instant. It had always worked before for some good, innocent fun. Well, mostly innocent. There was nothing wrong with a morning meet and greet with a nice enough looking lion.

Bwana smiled. The male noticed how her body language had chanced when she saw him, and he wondered if this meeting would turn into something interesting. The female certainly didn't seem to mind his being there at all, which was pretty good in his opinion.

SO he decided to move forward, heading his way nearer her so she didn't think her tactics had gone unnoticed. Smiling at her, he tilted his head to one side, stopping once he got close enough to her. The male was much more used to her type than she probably understood, but he didn't mind playing along if it meant a little fun. Just like old times.

"Hello there," he said softly, dipping his head in a polite bow of respect, "I hadn't expected to see such a pretty thing out here in the rogue lands. Are you lost, my dear?"

Coeur answered his bow with a bob of her own head, and the delicate closing of her eyes. Not much looked different when the white lids peeled back to reveal silver irises. She 'hmmed' as she threw her head back, looking through the spindly branches as if for an answer. "Mmmmmm, no. I'm not. Lost, that is, I don't mind you calling me pretty. And what about you, good sir?" She tilted in the other direction, and stretched out a paw in his direction, as though reaching, but stopping just short. She smiled, daintily, and her ears turned forward.

It might be a nice day after all, her tactics had worked so far. As she stared at him with a childish naivety, her mind raced with what card to play next. Oh, but he did seem sweet. She should go easy on him, shouldn't she? A heavy sigh puffed from her nostrils, but her smile remained constant on her face. Nice was boring, but it'd have to do for today.

User Image"You may call me whatever you desire," Bwana replied with a playful smile, enjoying the situation a bit more each time. It was nice not to think about duties and worries and all the rest of it that had been thrown so suddenly upon him and just have himself a nice conversation with a little lady that seemed nice enough and not out for anything malicious. Very few even knew about his pride, much less his royal line.

The chances of her trying to hurt him were slim.

"My name is Bwana," he added after a moment, though he left it open for her to call him something else if she so chose to, "so live here, then? In this area? My my, how interesting. These lands hold so many... nice things."

Coeur smiled. "Well it's very nice to meet you, Bwana, sir." She tried to think of an alternative, but nothing was coming to mind. She shook her head mildly to get her forelock from her eyes, and she looked up again, as though thinking. To match, her mouth pursed in meditation, and she spoke again, "Mmmmmnooo. I don't live here, actually. I don't really live anywhere, but I'm not lost. I can't really be lost when I haven't got anywhere to go. You know what I mean?" She felt like she was being clear, but the white lioness didn't think much about it herself. She licked her paw and groomed her nose, keeping her fur the pristine hue it always was. Coeur prided herself on that.

As far as she knew, this lion lived roughly in the area. If he did, then she should probably move on. Not that he wasn't nice, nono, he seemed like a gentleman. But she wasn't quite looking for neighbors or friends. Especially not the latter.

"That is a very good point," Bwana replied, "for quite some time I was the same, and I rather enjoyed it. There's something poetic in never being lost, but at the same time never knowing where you are, isn't there?" He chuckled softly. Still, those days were quickly coming to an end. Being free was still obtainable when you listened to your obligations and didn't ignore them like a child. Right? Not that she was, he was only reflecting on his own situation.

"I'm passing through here myself," he said after a thoughtful moment, "to get back to my home. So I suppose, should I lose my way, I'll have to come to terms with being lost for the first time in a long while. Guess that makes you the one in the better situation, doesn't it?" He enjoyed meeting others, though not every encounter had been friendly. Some were... down right odd.

This one, thankfully, seemed pretty neutral so far.

She smiled, "Quite right, Bwana." She'd seen all sorts of terrains and weathers, having had them distinguished only by the lions that inhabited them. She figured herself pretty lucky not to be tied down to a pride or worse yet and by far, a family. She nodded as he continued, only wondering for a fleeting second about his home. She tilted her head, and laughed softly. "I think you're correct again. Though I suppose it's not that bad to have somewhere safe to return to." Shrugging her shoulders, she continued, "It's just never been my style to settle down."

As for Coeur, in any encounters with another, she was usually the one to raise eyebrows, and their reactions would only go to provoke stranger responses of her own.

The large purple lion chuckled softly to himself. Yes, it was nice to have somewhere safe to return to. It was returning to be the lion in charge that was more than a little intimidating. He couldn't help but wonder what kind of a ruler he was going to end up as once he returned to the lands he he sought so much to be free of not that long ago.

Now he couldn't escape them- he had to protect them instead. What an odd twist of fate imposed on him by some higher force. What was he supposed to do?

"It's not for everyone," he admitted, "if not to settle down, what are your plans? If you don't mind me asking, of course." He smiled at the female faintly, hoping he wasn't digging too much into her personal life with his simple question. He shifted on his large paws, playing with the dirt that had slipped between the pads.

Oh, you know the same ol' same ol' cliche. Rule an empire. Have everyone pander to my silliest want or need. Never EVER have cubs. They're mildly disgusting and great burdens.

But those were just her thoughts. Coeur tilted her head and looked pensive while digging for an appropriate response. "Hmmm. I supposed I'd like to settle down and live my days out in peace. Whether that means with a mate or not, I'm not sure at the moment, but for now I think I'll stick with avoiding a large family, if that means a pride or cubs, I'll pass." She tried to play the last bit as just immaturity. Not every lioness was ready to have cubs at adolescence. And she wasn't ready now.

Her white eyes were half-lidded as the lioness relaxed in the conversation. It was a rather pleasant one, and Bwana was sufficiently polite which she found just delightful. Of course her opinions would change if he offered to show her his pride.

Bwana nodded along. Certainly sounded like the kind of thing he would have said not that long ago. How much would he like to go back to that life? Knowing the obligations that had been placed on his shoulders, though, he knew it wasn't possible. Not only would he have to return to his pride, but he needed to make sure he found himself a proper mate too. That meant both a pride and a family would soon find him.

"We're utter opposite," he laughed, "these days, anyway. But I think your ideas are good. Having a bit more time to roam is not a problem as far as I can see. Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury anymore." He sighed softly, looking over his shoulder back the way he had come.

"I should probably return to my comrades. They might be worried about me. It was nice speaking to you." He offered her a respectful bow of his head to show his appreciation.

Coeur didn't move very much as he spoke. Obligations. Ugh. Poor Bwana. But it seemed he didn't mind too much, and perhaps she jumped to conclusions and to feeling sorry for him, when he could very well be the happy father of somany cubs with a loving mate and a secure and safe pride.

But in the end, they both respected the way the other chose to live their lives, and that was enough, at least for Coeur. She nodded her head as he prepared to leave, and smiled. "I wish you all the best, Bwana. And who knows, maybe someday you'll come across me again in a large troupe with a belly round with cubs and more at my feet."
Ha, that was a laugh. But it was light-hearted and she returned with a deep bow of her own head.
"It was very nice meeting you. Good bye, Bwana!"
