Blahhh. I can't do anything with my hair. I want to have straight light flowing hair. Its hard to even dye it without getting random splotches.
Besides layers, what else can I really do with my hair? It's probably two inches thick in diameter.

You can ask the hairdresser to thin it out. I have really thick hair and I get it thinned every time I have a haircut. They use thinning shears, which you can buy and learn how to use at home if you need to.
Also, straightening hair (even if your hair is already straight) usually makes it look thinner.

i thin out my own hair when it's getting a little gnarly. it's probably not a good idea, but y'know. just take a regular razor and do small downward strokes at the root.
again, not a good idea, but i don't do it often and not all over my whole head so get it done professionally.
