But he wasn't sure if it was just because she was company that he enjoyed it so much. She was a pretty lioness and had a interesting personality. She was like an egg that he wanted to crack, and he wanted to see the inside of it. He wasn't too sure what it was about her but he found it interesting.
The large lion stretched his legs out and wiggled his toes, the sun was starting to set and he had already settled in for the night, or at least he was just settling in for a little bit. He could be a bit of a night bug when he wanted to. He watched as some of the brightly red colored lions started to head toward their various dens. A smile was on his face he was in a pretty good mood, he was glad to be in that good mood on top of that. The smile stayed on his face as he laid down, flopping on his belly and stretching out a little more, tossing his head back in a half roar half yawn. It felt good to have a place to be in. He couldn't wait to get his duel out of the way, he wanted to be considered a official part of the pride.

Kibela wasn't long after the male in entering the den, her steps short and weary as she moved to step up into the furs that made up the softer bedding of her home, red eyes trailing over to her guest as she shifted herself down onto her stomach. Having spent the day stalking after potential threats and crawling through sand and shadow, she was much more tired than he was, and it was obvious.
Though it was still a bit early yet, the sun only just going down as she settled herself comfortably, taking in the sight of him.
" You seem to be fairing well Iivari... " She commented with a hum, head tilting in thought before looking away from the male, to peer out of the den, out into the desert, watching as the passerby became fewer and far between. " Are you having any trouble adjusting to the desert? Any trouble from any of the other lions who live here? "
Her ears flicked up with interest as her eyes finally returned to him, awaiting his answer. Not only could it help her determine who may still have Traditionalist ties, giving new rogue trouble, but... She found she was genuinely.. interested. Why? She'd never taken much interest in new members before. They came, they joined, and they faded quickly from her mind, even when she was the one to bring them in, that's how it had always been. So why this one?
She didn't like not understanding something... She would just have to keep him close until she could figure out what was so special about this male to peak her interest, however subconscious it was.

Iivari smiled at the lioness before he nodded to her as she wandered in. "Good evening Kibela." He said with a slight purr. To this point the lioness that he was staying with had caught his attention for one reason or another. But she was giving him a reason to join the firekin. He sat up a little more scooting a little closer to her hoping that she wouldn't mind. "You look like you had quiet the busy day." He chuckled quietly before flicking his hair out of his eyes again and then.
"I am." He said simply with a little chuckle he then shook is head. "I don't have any problems except with a male... His name was Rowtag or something I dueled against him and he didn't even seem like winning was worth it. Cocky little b*****d he was." His voice trailed for a moment before he looked back at her again with a smile. "But I'm adjusting well I have another duel coming up." He was pretty ready for the next one. He knew he wasn't going to paired up against the male again he knew that he was goign to be able to handle himself and take on whoever he was fighting against.
"So how was your day?" He asked curiously, he was being as nice and grateful to the lioness as he could. He didn't want to seem like he didn't appreciate what the lioness was doing for him. "Are you hungry? You look tired, if you want I could go out and fetch something for you." He said simply as he looked at her. He didn't want to seem really pushy but if she was really hungry then he only felt like it was right if he grabbed her something to eat.

She peered at him curiously for a long moment, mentally cataloging the name Rowtag to look into later, just in case he was a problem. Even before her change to a more active rank for Kidondo she preferred keeping a close eye on any Firekin who seemed to make trouble with the new rogues coming in. It would hardly do to let an uprising of Traditionalists go un-noticed. " I see... Aside from that incident, I am happy that you are settling in comfortable, Iivari. "
Dark ears perked up at his questions, head tilting a bit in thought as she decided how to answer him. To say she was unused to others asking about her day, and offering to get her dinner was an understatement. She'd left her parents at quite a young age, and the male she'd had cubs with certainly wasn't her mate. He wasn't even around during the pregnancy in fact.
This was... an unfamiliar experience. But not an unwelcome one.
Slowly, she offered him a slight quirk of a smile, bowing her head in a nod. " My day was a long, but pleasant one... And.. I believe I am hungry... I would.. appreciate a meal if you were in the mood to bring one... " She said almost uncertainly, her smile already slipping back away.

Iivari looked at the other female before smiling a little more. He was glad to see that she was friendly enough to him. He was pretty surprised by that. Not that many times had he seen lionesses or anyone for that matter so welcoming to him. He was enjoying this and he was enjoying her company. He was really enjoying her company. He flicked his hair of of his eyes before sitting up some. "I'm glad that you have welcomed me so even into your den Kibela." He said simply to her at first.
he pushed himself to his paws before glancing at her. "I'm glad that it was pleasant." He then shook out his coat before turning back toward her. "I caught a meal just a few minutes ago before I settled into the den. I had a feeling you would come back hungry." He chuckled slightly. "I will be right back M'lady." He flashed her a grin before he trotted out of the den for a moment. He knew he didn't put it that far away, just on the other side of the den, he looked around for a moment before picking it up in his jaws.
He briskly trotted back toward the den placing the baby Gazelle down in front of her and then nodded to her. "Ladies first of course, eat your fill." He smiled as he flopped down across from it, sitting back up so he could look at her and have a conversation with her as she ate. "Do you have any family in the pride?" He asked curiously. "I hope you don't mind me asking, I am very curious."

" My thanks. " She murmured as she sat up a bit so she could lean and begin eating the meal. Red eyes flicked up to him when he spoke again, asking about family and slowly she sat back from the gazelle, licking her lips. " Yes. I have a bit. Kidondo and his sister, Kaanga. I would call them family, though our connection is not one of blood. "
She said thoughtfully, tucking her paws under her a bit. " I also have children here. Two have departed the pride for other lands... One of those being my eldest daughter her left in shame for attacking her brother. Six remain in the pride still. Some have mates. Some have already birthed children. One is expecting soon. " She hummed, turning back to the meal now that she'd answered the question to quickly finish eating her fill.
She truly had no other relations here, and certainly no mate. Though she did have one sister she remained in contact with outside of the pride. Her dear younger sister...
Shaking away the thoughts of her, she shifted back from the meal and took to grooming her paws and face, removing any stray blood and sand from her day out and about in the desert.

Iivari listened closely as the lioness talked but then he nodded. "Family not of the blood can be closer then family of the blood." He noted simply at the idea, it was true in his mind. He flicked his tail behind him again then he looked back at her. His mind wandered to his family as he was raised. His mother would probably be looking at him weird for being so kind, yet this female caught his attention more then the others around him. Something about her was interesting and eye catching.
He flicked his hair out of his yes once more as his brought his attention back down to what was going on he was talking to the female. "Ah, you have children." He thought quietly at the idea before he looked back at her. He thought back for a moment. "I had a litter myself a while back, I was also young." He shook his head for a moment. "There was only two in the litter both girls and the mother ran off after that." He really wished he could see his daughters again but he knew it wasn't oging to happen. A small chuckle rose from his throat. "I wouldn't be surprised if they have cubs themsevles." He nodded at the idea before turning back toward her.
He stretched his paws out some thinking about what else to say, however nothing was coming to his mind. He wished he was a little bit more of a social lion but that didn't seem to be the case with him.

Chuckling out lightly at his words, she settled herself down into the furs underneath her, resting her head down on her paws. " I would hardly call myself young... Even at the time I had them. " She hummed, curling her tail in as well. " Though certainly foolish as a naive child would be, to let myself be manipulated into the situation. I don't regret the cubs. I do however resent the father. "
Bodaway had quite openly coerced her into having the litter with him, The male was quite a sweet talker when he wanted to be. He was lucky he was a member of the pride as well, meaning she could not strike him down in sweet vengeance...
" But it's no matter I suppose. The old fool wont last much longer at his age. " She smirked, flicking her ruby eyes back up to Iivari curiously. " I've never been... Particularly good with family. I could only barely figure out how to raise those little ones, and I'm hardly convinced I did a good job, with how they turned out. "
" I'm sure you'll have better luck, however. If you're unable to see your old cubs, you may always have new ones here. There are quite a lot of lioness' to choose from. "

Iivari looked at the lioness and then nodded a few times. "Ah but you have carried youth with you for sure Kibela." He said simply with a smile slightly showing on his face. "You are a beautiful lioness and look pretty young." He nodded at the idea the comment just as serious as many of the other comments that he would say. "I'm glad that you are happy with the cubs though." He chuckled slightly, before lifting his foot licking it.
"Aha!" He half laughed for a moment before nodding at Kibela once more. "At least old age is catching up with him. I couldn't believe a male would do that to a lovely female as yourself. But I'm glad you managed to raise the cubs." He paused for a moment with the mention of not being good with family he sighed. "Never that great with family myself." He laughed slightly nervously then looked at her again.
His mind raced for a moment as he was debating on what to say. The only lioness on his mind was the one sitting in front of him. "I can say... Out of the ones that I've seen one has caught my eye. She is lovely all black, strong firekin blood."

Kibela's ears perked back up at that, her head lifting slowly to stare at the male in interest. All black...? To the best of her knowledge there were a total of two all black females in the entire pride. Herself, and her sister-in-law, No... She didn't take the male for a fool, so he certainly wasn't pining after the Regent's mate... That.. Only left her... A frown came onto her lips as her head tilted, processing this. Though no matter how she tried it really hardly made sense to her.
" I have caught your eye then..? " It was true she'd been quite kind and hospitable to the intriguing lion... Any other wandering rogue she never would have welcomed into her den. She didn't care much for interaction past what was needed after all. " If it is because of my kindness toward you, that may not always be the case. I am... difficult to get along with, most days. "
Her frowned deepened as she tried to get across what she meant properly. She wasn't really trying to discourage him, and turn him down... More like, warn him. A little voice in the back of her mind was screaming she really should just get rid of him, but for now it was firmly ignored.
" I find you... Interesting. But if my interest fades, I may treat you more coldly... And if your attraction is because I am the first you met, the one who lead you here... It may not end well, yes? "

Iivari looked at the female with a smile growing on his face. He flicked his hair out of his eyes again thinking slightly amused as he thought about it. Kibela was quite an interesting lioness. He wanted to get to know her more that was for sure. It was a good try anyway, if not maybe he could have made a friend out of this. That would be pretty cool.
He looked at her then nodded. "Very true, I am interested into you." He said simply as if it was the simple thing to say to anyone. He glanced at her before shrugging at her next comment and then he chuckled slightly. "You know I'm not the best to be getting along with either." He looked at her and then chuckled slightly again flashing her a bit of a charming smile.
He then shook his head a little then glanced at her again. "I've seena lot of the other lionesses around here. The only that are not already mated are repulsive to me." He chuckled a little at the idea, lifting his paw and cleaning it off a few times then looking at her with a smile. "You never know, if it works it works and if it doesn't work then it doesn't work." He chuckled slightly at the idea it sounded interesting for sure.

She eyes him for a long moment in curiosity... as well as a slight bit of caution. She certainly didn't get to where she was today by being trusting after all. Her mind was calculating and always mindful of the people and things around her. Slowly though, she lowered her head down to her paws with a slight snort, settling to rest for the night.
" Very well... I will... give you a chance. Court me as you see fit, but I will not hold myself back for you, I will not change. And I will not protect you if you do wrong within the pride. I do not abide such things. " She said firmly, her thoughts drifting back to a time very long ago.
Her parents. Her brothers. They had all wanted her to change. She was 'strange'. And 'embarrassment'. Only her dear Radi had been accepting... Until Kidondo had come along. He too accepted her, more so than even Radi had, for he had also had need of her, her strange skill, her power. He needed her in his war. Three people in all of the world held her trust. She would not purposely make it easy for this new male to gain it... Despite her continued loneliness she ignored deep inside herself.

Iivari smirked as she watched her. He really liked her she seemed nice enough down on the inside but then again he didn't mind. He liked the rough outside he knew he had a rough outside himself he knew he could do it. It was a challenge he was up for. "I will no do you wrong Kibela." He chuckled slightly before flicking his hair out of his eyes.
He rested his head on his paws getting ready for the night himself. He glanced at her again before closing his eyes. the next few weeks were going to be interesting but for now he was goign to have to win her over. He knew he could do it.

" See that you do not... Good night, Iivari. " Came the soft reply, deep crimson eyes peering at the male from across the den for a moment more before slowly sliding shut in sleep. The male seemed confidant that he would be able to court her... And, truthfully, she admired that. She liked that about him... She still would not make it easy but...
She did hope that he managed to accomplish his goal. For both their sakes.
Kibela had never given much thought before to the word mate. But she had seen how happy others had been. Kidondo and No especially, as well as a few of her own children. Perhaps it is something she could enjoy... Eventually.
