Background History: After Kagomes brother Yumi left, Kagome was the center of her fathers attention. He was a hateful drunk who couldn't even make it into a mission. He took his anger and disappointment out on his kids.
When Yumi first left, Kagome felt betrayed. She looked to her older brother to protect her, because it seemed her mom couldn't. She was very young then, and doesn't remember much. But her disliking of her brother faded. As she grew older, she felt it was her job to protect her mom.
Eventually she ran away with her mother, and for a while they traveled. Her mom thought her how to fight when she could, but her mom eventual got sick. They were a few miles away from a town, but her mom couldn't make it. And kagome wasn't going to leave her mom.
Little did she know that an assassin had raided the village, and happen to have ran into them. The assassin killed her mother, as the assassin turned to attack her younger sister, through blind rage Kagome murdered him, her sharingan being activated at her young age. She was eventually found, and escorted back to the leaf village, where her home was. She attended school, and became a very stealthy and dangerous kunoichi. She still searches for her brother, while taking care of her younger sister. Being more of the mom figure they lost so many years ago.
