Misty shelves: Library

Kirigakure, being the home of the Mist 7, has some of the most extensive and in-depth information on weapons and weapon-styles out of all of the other villages. Much of this general information can be found in the shelves of the library, but not much else. Although the library is also well-known for its collection of books on water jutsu, it is unable to hold many books thanks to the extra care that must be given to each and every text to keep the moisture and mold, both of which originate from the constant mist, from damaging the books.

While general information can be found in the library--enough for someone to be able to recognize a jutsu--it is impossible to learn how to use a jutsu just from the information that is provided in the general sections. All of the scrolls and such that are required to learn specific jutsus are either hidden in an unknown spot in the library or found with the Mizukage. All jutsus and techniques that are B-rank or below can be accessed at the library --A-rank jutsus and above are with the Mizukage--if the shinobi either belongs to the Mist or has a letter from the Mizukage. Careful, though, the librarians are all extremely skilled in sniffing out any counterfeits and have memorized the name and face of every shinobi in the village. If any discrepancies arise, they can always refer to a large reference book that contains up-to-date information on any and every mist shinobi. In addition, they are all skilled at blocking out any sort of genjutsu.

If any attempts at stealing jutsu are suspected, then the shinobi who tried to steal the scrolls will promptly be asked to leave. If that offer is refused, then the ANBU, who constantly guard the library in addition to the other key points in the village, will attempt to forcefully kick the shinobi out. If the shinobi continues to resist/has caused any form of destruction, the he/she will promptly be arrested and taken over to the ANBU headquarters for interrogation. The guards can only be rped by someone who has a jounin+ character.

The Library, home to all the knowledge within the Mist Village. It was a shame in Mileena's eyes that it would be a target for the assault. The intruders must have wanted to cripple the villagers by destroying all the knowledge they hold. Then again, it could have simply bee caught in the unfortunate crossfire. She waved to the guards as she entered, having guessed that they must have already gotten wind of both Genin's arrival. The first thought that came to her mind as she entered the large building was that it was impossible. The state of the place was disaster above everything else. Books of all different kinds and sizes were splayed across every nook and cranny of the room, and one of the shelves leaned against the other before it, which caused the one carrying the burden to tilt slightly from stress. Mileena turned to Nero with a look of trepidation, with her eyebrows lifted slightly. She then sighed and went over to the first book on the ground close to the entrance, reaching down to pick it up. She did so and continued on to the next, book, ensuring that she checked the alphabetical arrangement for each book and the shelf to which they belonged.

Ugh...this is going to take forever. God damn why do I always get stuck doing this stupid stuff. Whatever...at least we get a D-rank credit for this. He thought, somewhat annoyed at the fact that he didn't consider the task fun, or exciting. He picked up a book and put it in its spot on the shelf. He groaned, continuing to pick up the books.

I wonder why they hit this place so hard. Doesn't seem to really add up...but, it's not my call I s'pose. He thought, deciding, to just think, rather than actually talk. She could read his mind anyways, if it was just the two of them and the librarian, he decided against unnecessary effort.

Mileena picked up book after book and sorted them in a neat pile on the ground before her, watching the piles grow as she retrieved even more books and sorted them. This would make her work that much easier and reduce all the unnecessary walking back and forth. Once she had gotten a good majority of the books in their individual piles, she went about placing them where they belonged on the shelves. All the piles were almost in their rightful place when she reached the one shelf that had decided to relieve itself of its perpetual stance. The books for that section would most definitely not be able to go home unless she could find a way to get the shelf standing once again. She pondered going to the guards at the entrance for help, but decided against it on the first step, thinking to herself that that would be cheating, as she called it, and the credit would not have been deserved. She stayed in her section and formed a link with Nero, invading his mind just in time to catch the final words of what he had been thinking. She smiled where she was, knowing that he couldn't see her. Not many people could get her to feel so happy.
"Would you stop complaining? The sooner we get this over with the sooner you can relax. Could you come around to section four for a second? I need some help with something". Mileena picked up a few more books and placed them in short piles while she waited for him to come.

[]iUgh...not you too...everybody's always telling me to stop complaining. He told her, with a groan. He stood up from his previous squatting position, as he was putting books on one of the lower shelves. He finished the pile of books he had, too lazy to make a stack out of them, he had just thrown them on the ground in a pile in order to make things easier for him.

Fine, I'll...be right over. He told her, walking over to where she was, in section four.

Mileena Mayu

Mileena just finished placing the last of the stray books that were not of the lazy shelf when Nero arrived with his hands in his pocket, that same half attentive look in his eyes. Mileena rolled her eyes and motioned to him to hurry over. She pointed to the shelf that leaned out of place onto the other and assumed that he caught on to what she was trying to say. She moved closer to the bookcase, placing one hand on it as if willing it to stand on its own once again, but, as expected, nothing happened. Without waiting for Nero to move over to where she was, Mileena went around to the other section where the shelf leaned against the other, looking as if it could push the other from its position any minute. She placed both hands on it, braced herself, then pushed with all the strength she could manage. She may as well have been attempting to move a submarine for all the good it did. The shelf didn't so much as budge. She stepped away from it with speculative eyes, wondering if Nero's assistance would make a difference. Was he strong enough to move the shelf back into place, or would she have to relent and call the guards for help? She sighed inwardly and went back around to Nero until she was vis-a-vis with him. She looked up into his eyes and wondered what he was thinking. She thought better than to pry, not wanting to come off as the type that abuse her power to squeeze whatever information she needed from unsuspecting individuals.
"Well, you see what I mean now. We have to get this shelf standing again if we are to have any hope of completing our task. Do you think maybe if we tried moving it together it would work? I don't mean to pressure you or anything, but..." Mileena looked down to the ground, half expecting that he would refuse, but she would never know until he said so or made his thought known.

Nero attempted to push it back into place. It worked, and the shelf was now "fixed". However, whatever mechanism used to hold it in place was broken, so the shelf simply fell back down a few moments later. He sat down on a nearby stool and began to think. He assumed his thinking position, which consisted of locking all of his fingers together, placing his hands palm down, and swirling his thumbs around each other. I could put a senbon needle or two into it, to try and hold it, than simply bend the ends not in use so they dont hurt anybody..but I'm not sure if I have enough, or if I have any at all. I think I have 3 or 4...but it would probably be better to think of a few other options first. Hrm... He thought to himself, lazily picking up a few books and putting them on other shelves nearby. He had finished one row, row four was pretty much completed, which left only a few rows of shelves left.

He continued to think about a solution to the problem, not having much luck. He reached into his gear pouch and realized he did have a few senbon needles, and decided it was probably their best bet. I think I'm gonna just use these to hold it up. I'll stick them through the side of the shelf, and rest the shelf on top of a few of them, until a proper repair can be done. He told her, standing up.

He placed the needles into the positions he wanted them in, then put the shelf on top of the 4 of them he had put in. It worked like a charm. He took a hard cover book and used it as a make-shift mallet to pound the excess part of the needle so it was vertical, facing down, parallel to the shelf, that way it wouldn't hurt anybody. Done. Anything else you need? He asked, getting ready to turn around and get started on another row.

Mileena Mayu
~ Genin ~ Mayu Clan ~ Kirigakure ~

Mileena watched him get to work on the shelf, and almost fell out of character and jumped for joy when he managed to get the shelf back into position. Then whatever thoughts of joy she had died when the shelf teetered in place then fell back into its slump. It seemed that Nero arrived at the same conclusion at precisely the exact moment she did. She listened to him think and found his plan a bit lacking, but decided against letting her thoughts slip since she had nothing better to add at the moment. She let him do what it was he wanted and was quite happy to see that it had worked better than how it had played out in her mind's eye. She kept her eyes on the place where the needles held the shelf in place when he made his snide remark in the form of a question, asking if she needed anything else. She just turned to him with a smile and shook her head, dismissing him with a shooing motion of her hand.

Now that she looked around carefully, she could see that they were mostly done. All that was left were a few books that needed to be placed on the top shelves, then getting rid of all the dust and ashes, and that would be all. Mileena looked around quickly for signs of a step-ladder anywhere in the library, thinking that there must be one or two available somewhere to allow access to the books that were too high for people to reach. She walked around the shelves, traipsed through the aisles until finally, her eyes caught what she had been looking for. Even better, it was one with a set of wheels which allowed for easy manoeuvrability to the shelves that she couldn't reach. Finally, the last set of books to place and then half their task would be finished. She stood on the highest step and stretched slightly to reach the furthest shelf. When she placed the book where it belonged, she was all too eager to move on to their next task. She turned around on the ladder to get a bird's eye-view of the Library, and admittedly, she liked what she saw. Everything was exceptionally neat as a result of her and Nero's efforts. She turned back to the case she was in front of and proceeded to climb down the ladder. She moved a bit too fast which caused the wheels to move away from their initial position, making her lose her balance on the ladder and slip.

She was falling side-ways and eventually turned to her front. She would have screamed had she been able to, and all she could settle for was using the already formed link between herself and Nero to make a shrill sound to alert him to her dilemma. It was in vain, as she knew that there would be no way for him to get to her in time. 'Is this the end?' The thought came to her, but she was close to her peril and could do naught but wait. She braced herself for the impact with her eyes closed and her hands crossed before her face. It never came. She opened her eyes slowly, and what she saw caused her to feel a tinge of fear and a deluge of surprise. There she was, floating inches away from the cold, hard ground. A slow smile crossed her face as she realized what was happening. 'This must be another one of my strange abilities'. She hovered through the air slowly, familiarizing herself with the feel of this new power she had gained. She was doing well until Nero came around the corner just as she was getting the hang of it, causing her to lose her concentration and fall stomach first on the ground as her chin followed suit.

Nero heard the slight bump and click that were made as she fell. He didn't hear anything else, and he went over to check, to make sure she hadn't been impaled silently, as wasn't dead. I swear...if you're dead...I'll have to finish this by myself. That would really suck... Nero though, frowning slightly. He walked around the corner and wasn't surprised to see that Mileena wasn't dead. However, the reason why she wasn't dead, was a bit different. He raised an eyebrow and took a step back.

Uhh....what're you doing, Mileena? Are you...floating? He asked her, via his thoughts. She apparently hadn't noticed, or was too focused to respond. So he decided to do what anybody else would have done. He decided he would scare her. He figured a simple voice question would do it. He took a deep breath. "Mileena!" He said, watching her fall to the ground. He grinned as he heard the large thump, then began to laugh.

He then, as repayment, picked up the last few books, and put them on her shelf, amid avoiding eye contact with her. He was still smiling though, as he had thoroughly enjoyed the result of his scare operation.

Mission success. He thought, with a grin.

Mileena shifted her head slightly so she could properly glare at Nero and that smug grin he had on his face. She managed to push herself off the ground and noticed with a tinge of anxiety that this was her second time falling for the day. She couldn't help but wonder and pray against all odds that there not be a third. Nero's snickering voice became clearer in her ears as she rubbed her chin to relieve some of the pain. 'Well he seems happy. Glad one of us can wallow in my pain' Acid poured from the whites of her eyes to him, but he seemed to not notice during his fits of laughter.
"Are you quite through? Some of us would like to actually get the job over and done with thank you very much!" Mileena, clearly, was not amused by the little scare that Nero had caused her. She sashayed away from him, making all the exaggerated movements of her hips which she thought served to show just how upset she was at him.

Mileena had been gone for all of two minutes when she finally returned with two brooms in hand. She threw one of them to Nero non too gently and went to an opposite section of the massive building from where he stood and began sweeping away all the ashes and dust on the ground. As she swept, the ashes blackened the ground further, but still got dragged along by the broom, leaving the ground where they once were spotless. Several specks of dust managed to escape the pile she was trying to create, but this was just the first sweep. The second would surely remove all unwanted refuse.

Nero stopped laughing just in time to catch the broom to the chest, knocking him off the last 2 steps, and onto his butt. Unecessary...totally uncalled for. He thought, groaning as he stood to his feet. He sighed and picked up a few books off the ground, that he had knocked off the shelf behind him, as he fell back. He shot Mileena a glare, before brushing himself off, making sure he got rid of all the dust and debris on me.

He sighed. Do all girls do this when they get mad? He wondered, curious as to the answer, but that curiositiy quickly dissipated, as he realized they had work to do. He got back to sweeping up the debris, and picking up books.

"I don't know about all girls, but that was uncalled for. I could have broken something, what would you do then?"
Mileena played through her feelings like a tape in a record, trying to find the one that would best suit the way she felt. None worked, and the anger lasted only a little while longer before she decided it was too much to pout and remain angry over something as silly as a practical joke. 'A practical joke that almost maimed me. Okay. So maybe it wasn't that bad, but he didn't have to laugh'. She pouted again as she swept the ground vigorously, relieving all her anger onto it as it was forced to be the scapegoat in silence. She had finished with most of her section and the dust and debris were in a neat, or as neat a pile as was possible at the far end of the room. She looked at her work and smiled, knowing that this was the last thing left to do before they could move on. Mileena moved back to where she had started sweeping and redid the areas, ensuring to capture all the dust and gravel that escaped her the first time. Once she was through, she waited for Nero to bring his pile around to meet hers so they could figure a way to get it all out without too much of a hassle.

Hah, I wouldn't have let anything happen to you. Besides, if you got hurt, I'd have to do this by myself, and that's out of the question. He told her, grinning. He continued to dust the rows and yawned. He was getting tired, luckily, they were almost done. They only had 3 more rows to go until they were finished, and Nero really wanted to be done with the assignment he was told to do. He groaned, and continued to sweep through the rows.

He looked back at Mileena and smiled. He began to wonder. I wonder...what would have happened if she got hurt? What if it was bad? Or worse...what if she...no, nevermind. Don't think like that...just...get back to sweeping. He thought to himself, getting back to sweeping.

Mileena was at a loss for words when she heard Nero's thoughts carry to her mind. 'Is he truly only concerned about the work? He doesn't even care that I almost got hurt?' Mileena was standing in place, looking down to the ground at the dust she had managed to gather. She was just about to look back up into his eyes and let loose a mental scream that was piercing enough to send him writhing on the ground when she heard his thoughts, though maybe he intended for her not to. 'He was concerned'. That was enough to make Mileena rethink the type of person she thought he was. He may be lazy and lackadaisical at times, but at least he cared.

While he made his way over, Mileena looked around for anything they could use to gather the dust and dispose of it with care. She paused mid-thought, 'I seem to be the one getting everything we need. The step-ladder, the brooms'. She looked up at Nero with the brightest smile her beautiful face could manage as he approached.
"Nero? Would you mind searching for something we can use to gather the dust so we can get rid of it?" She said it in the most seductive, girly voice without even trying, and batted her eyelashes as she said it. It was a card she never played, not once in her life, but she figured there was a first time for everything.

Nero looked over at Mileena and groaned. Ugh...don't be like that....god. Fine. I'll do it." He had a major softspot, and he noticed it then. He was an expert at saying no, so admittedly, what just happened was a moment of weakness. He sighed, looking back at Mileena once again, before he left the row to get the piece of cardboard. He walked down the isle scanning for the "something" that Mileena was talking about. He found it, in the form of a piece of cardboard, leaning against the shelf. He picked it up and looked over it. He nodded his head, it would do for now. All they wanted to do was sweep up the dust anyways, it wasn't like they had to build a house, so the piece of cardboard should be fine. I wonder what that was about. Was she trying to...no....it couldn't be....or....was it? He thought to himself, carrying the piece of cardboard back to Mileena. Here you go...your cardboard. He told her, handing her the cardboard.
