The scenery this day was not quite what she was used to. Kailani'ki had decided to take a different route than usual, though not away from the water, of course. Having stumbled upon a little stream jutting out from the river, she had turned off into the trees to follow it. The deeper she went, the tighter the canopy became. In the heat of the season, the mare was actually thankful for the great shade. It felt rather nice.

Stopping, she dipped her head to the stream momentarily, examining it. The line it created had grown significantly smaller in a short period of time and now she could see why. The stream came to its end in a tiny bowl, hardly bigger than your average puddle. But regardless of the less than interesting turn of events, she could say she was glad to have seen this little stream all the way to fruition. She really did think it would be nice to know every bit of good water this land had to offer.

Stepping only a short distance from the stream and it's puddle end, she leaned against one of the many trees dotting this patch she had wandered through. The bark was rough, but didn't feel uncomfortable against her skin. A contented sigh left her and she shut her eyes momentarily, not meaning to doze off as she eventually did.

User ImageThe day was horridly bright for the the shadow pony that drifted through the trees as quite as a ghost. She'd been caught up for some reason that kept her from her cozy mountain home. She'd traveled the whole forest before in the night though she was unsure if the forest would be just as dark in the day. She felt exposed in the sunlight more so then she did in the moonlight.

Not far off Angeetia picked up on the sound of calming water. She'd risk exposing herself other soquili and risk being judged by them. She hated those who would judge her appearance. Her pace was set though she moved silent still in attempt to avoid being seen. The water as quiet as it was grew louder to her ears as she drifted along. She was usually not so careless in her travels but the thought of a cool refreshing drink made her anxious. So that when she neared a snoozing mare leaning against a tree her tail brushed against her as she quietly moved to the small area that was barely big enough to drink from.

Carelessness had lulled her into a rather shallow, but comfortable sleep. Every once in a while she would snort lightly, shifting against the trunk of a the tree and lifting a hoof or two as she did while stepping through the water. It was as if she were dreaming.

However, when something ghosted past her leg, she shivered, lifting the appendage away as awareness started to fill her again. A mumble left her lips, the final vestiges of a light sleep, and she opened her eyes, blinking the blur from her vision. Mouth already dried, she turned to the stream, thinking to drink, but something caught her attention and pulled that idea right out of her mind.

Eyes squinted partially shut as if what he was seeing wasn't really there. It was as if the trees were casting some strangely shaped shadow, but as Kailani'ki stared longer and longer at the form by the puddle-pool, she realized that was not the case. The shadow became a Soquili in her eyes and while she had never seen one of such a body, she thought that this must certainly be a horse like her. Emboldened, she spoke in her normal, amiable tone. "Hello?"

Angeetia had sipped at the water of the puddle like ending of the river. It was cool and refreshing. She was sure it only seemed so cool for the canopy above-head shading it was the hot sun. The midnight waters of the mountains were crisper and tasted different but the water was not bad. Though while she drank she heard from behind her so to speak a friendly voice which gave her a start. She wasn't fond of other soquili they were often not pleasant in her company.

Angeetia lifted her head and backed away from the water. She moved her head to see if she could find where the voice came from and she saw purple mare with odd white markings. She stared at the mare for a moment before deciding the mare was acceptable. "Hullo."She wasn't one fond of speaking but lack of speaking had not made her voice rough, no her voice was smooth as silk but held and eerie edge to it. It was soft though like a whisper through the trees.

Ears flickered back and forth, as if the sound of the other female's voice had come from all around. It was different, certainly not like anything she had heard before. A bit unnerving, perhaps, but suited to the shadow like appearance. It actually seemed to halt her for a moment and there was a silence between the two of them until she found her voice again. "I'm sorry, were you still thirsty?" There was a slightly apologetic smile on her face now. In her happiness to meet new faces, she had pulled this one away from the water without thinking. Internally, she blamed part of it on her own drowsiness.

"Please keep drinking if so," she vocally nudged, stepping away from the tree that had been her makeshift bed. "I'm a bit thirsty myself, sleep dry throat, you know." At some point she felt she had begun to ramble a bit, but shook the thought away, closing the distance between herself and the tiny stream. There was still a socially acceptable distance between herself and this other, however. And thought she didn't want to admit to herself, there was a bit of wariness in that space.

Dipping her head, she lapped carefully at what little water there was. It was soothing, enough to calm her somewhat and remind her of her manners. "Forgive me," she muttered with a laugh, her nose still skimming the surface. "My name is Kailani'ki." Another smile crossed her lips and she lifted her head, glancing to the side.

She tilted her head to the side still eyeing the other mare. “No I thirst for no more.” The other mare seemed of the friendly sort. A part of Angeetia wished she’d known the mare before she’d slipped into a shadowed form. That part of her urged her to stay rather than flee as she would have usually done, part ashamed of what she’d become the other part a desire not to cause harm to the other. However the other mare being so friendly did not invoke distaste or dislike for her.

She nodded as the mare continued on in her talking. As she moved away from the tree Angeetia noted that she was smaller than the other mare, though not too much smaller. It had become usual for her to be smaller. She was still not too fond of the mare, with her being the breed that had ignored her as a child, and if at any point she felt the desire for a small peaceful conversation gone she would excuse herself however, for the time being she was enjoying the company regular Soquili or not.

Angeetia watched the mare as she began to take her fill of what little the small stream had to offer and Angeetia found it odd to watch another drink, so she frowned and glanced away till the other mare began to speak again. “Hmm?” Angeetia caught her forgive me but it wasn’t till a moment later she understood why it was said in the first place. “Certainly sounds a mouthful.” Angeetia smiled a soft smile. “My name is Angeetia.” She nodded her head softly while thoughts rambled through her head. “What brings you so far into the forest?”

"A lot of people have given me nicknames," she admitted with a small laugh. "It wasn't unusual for someone to stumble a bit over her name or simply wish to call her something shorter. Something with a few less syllables. She didn't mind at all. Even her mother had called her Ki.

An ear flicked forward, catching the other mares name. It was a bit more relaxed. For whatever reason, there was a sort of vulnerablility, openness maybe, in knowing your company's name and having them know yours in return. Perhaps that air of mistrust she felt before had been her imagination? Regardless, her muscles visibly relaxed under her skin and she leaned slightly, finding a stance that was comfortable for the long term, just in case. But still, that acceptable distance remained.

"I was just following this stream," she revealed, nodding her head down at the water they had both had a drink from. "My momma raised me near the water and... well, I guess I've always liked it. I just wanted to see where this one went." For a moment, she looked slightly sheepish. As if her story sounded childish.

She nodded her head slightly at the other mares comment about nicknames. Others had given her nicknames before it was interesting. Angeetia had never been around anyone long enough for them to give her a nickname. She didn't really see where her name needed to be shorted because she found her name was perfect as it was though she figured she'd not object to anyone giving her one though.

Her tail flicked to the side as her gaze drifted from the mare to the water that flowed along side them. It was calm. Upon the other mare settling in her stance she turned her gaze back. She shifted her hooves shuffling them slightly shifting her weight about. Her ears flicked forward as the mare began talking again. She'd followed the stream. She frowned when she mentioned her mother. Angeetia couldn't remember anything about her family. "I can understand curiosity." She nodded her gaze drifted back to the stream as she watched it bubble along. "I was just out looking to see what was about,"
