Welcome to Draug Faroth's first RP based contest. This contest came about as I, Jungle, wanted to encourage RP within Draug and in general and to prove it does have it perks other than the pleasure of it. So this is an RP sort of contest for the owners of: Aegean, Boreas, Neptune, Pallas, Athena, Cernunnos and Gaia. The young pups have been set a task of finding 'treasure', this is to encourage their tracking skills and to increase their knowledge and understanding of their territory and the resources in it.Uta has kindly allowed for me to do this, so to the perks;
The winning wolf, the one with the most items, will win the edit of a medicine bag though of course according to native American traditions these bags hold other items besides medicine such as totems, trinkets and items which are precious to the individual, a great commodity to a wolf who is so good at treasure hunting.
The wolf which finds the Bison hair, will win the edit of the fur being tied about which ever leg they desire with leather.
The wolf which finds the turquoise, will win the edit of a bone and turquoise bracelet on which ever leg they desire.
These three winning wolves, once the treasure hunt is over, will then go on to RP out a meeting with the humans which live at the far edge of the southern boarders, either accompanied by Madhuri or Macha.

Rules of the game: 1)Firstly you need to make an 'entry' post. I will wait three days from the first post and then post as Aineislis, if you haven't posted for your pup in this time span then you must still post an 'entry' post before commencing in the contest and explain how your wolf gained the knowledge the others know. 2)After my post for Aineislis, the hunt begins: generate a random number between 1 and 3, placing in the post 'Searching'. Once rolled you may go back and edit your post depending on number generated; 2 is always the winning number, 1 and 3 mean your pup is not successful in finding the item and you must RP out their continued search in the post and then are free to roll again. 3)Once you have found your first item you must return to Aineislis who will care for the item but only if you manage to answer her riddle, if you leave and roll again without first answering her riddle, she will not guard your item from Rowan who is mischievous and will steal the item and hide it once again. Once answered correctly you may begin rolling again. *Note; you don't need give a large RP answer, the answer simply in dialogue will do. Also if you are struggling to answer the riddle ask Aineislis for a clue. 4)The once all the items are collected the hunt ends, the pup with the most items wins.
General Rules: 1)No OCC posting please, any questions please feel free to PM me to my Junglerunner account rather than the Draug mule. 2)There are no fees to pay for the edits, I shall be covering the costs.

Aineislis was a young bear, though older than most wolves being 11 and though she had seen much of the world she still had a lot to learn and also still had a rather childish nature. Thus when she had met Cocidius and he had told her of the number of young wolves in the area, rather than avoiding them Aineislis had promised Cocidius to help to teach them to respect the land and to get the most out of what it had to offer. So today, rising earlier to make the most of the day, Aineislis made her way to a stone circle where Cocidius had said he'd inform them to go the day before and to be prepared for a lesson.
Becoming slightly nervous now, Aineislis walked slowly onwards wondering to herself if this was such a good idea, several wolf pups meeting a strange bear, she wondered how they would react and if they would listen to her and if they would take part in what she had planned for them.

x x x x x x xNeptune was more of a nocturnal wolf, at least when the nightmares let him. Lately they had been growing less frequent, but he was on his guard nevertheless. In the waking world he could defend himself if needed - in the dream world, well . . . There was no escape from those soulless silver eyes. Unfortunately today was one of those days Neptune was visited by them, and he woke with a jolt as usual, panting heavily and with stiff hackles. Why? he wondered. Why . . . ?
He didn't want to start his day so early, but Neptune wanted to shake off the lingering bad feelings. Perhaps a quick walk would suffice. He wound his way about the den and trotted along outside, gathing his thoughts together. Today was . . . something . . . The hunting captain had mentioned a lesson, was it? It took him a moment to remember where exactly Cocidius had told them to gather, at which point he diverted from his aimless path to a more purposeful one.
Even early in the morning, the sun was already breaking from the horizon, and the pup's eyes squinted as he made his way into the stone circle. Blearily he eyed the dark bear already there, at most yawning and plopping down on his haunches to wait for further instruction. Gods, the same day as this training lesson? Really? His nightmares had sadistically terrible timing when they did decide to show up.

Cernunnos was on a mission today. Or he was given a mission, or he was told of a mission, which as it was happened to be a sort of enigma to the little pup at this particular moment. He had been rather excited when his father had told him of a ‘special lesson’ by the rock circle; Where the adults gathered, he thought, during their important meetings. Which, of course, meant that father had told him something incredibly important, something that shouldn’t be forgotten or missed for anything, and therefore the thought had lingered in Cern’s mind from the moment he had been told to the moment he decided to shake himself from an unsuccessful sleep. Though normally a very calm fellow, the moment something exciting crossed his mind - anything exciting, really - he tended to blow things out of proportion.
On the outside he appeared cool as a peach, walking at a considerate pace that measured footfalls and counted breaths with the intent of appearing at the rocks completely ready for whatever was about to be thrown at him. He wanted to seem more mature, a little more respectful to whomever would be teaching him this new skill or life lesson, and he certainly didn’t want to cause a fuss by bulldozing his way into the meeting. His heart was hammering and he was somewhat dizzy with anticipation, yes, but he still found the rocks with his dignity intact; only to be nearly overwhelmed by the sight of a large bear, waiting patiently and already accompanied by a blue pup. He quietly chided himself for not being first, at the sime time commending the other pup for being such an early riser, and giving a polite, yet oversized grin, he fond himself a comfortable spot to wait. Others would be coming, including his sisters, and until then he’d have to keep his itching eagerness under control.

Boreas had stirred when Neptune had left the den, and had pushed himself into full awareness not long after. He looked around, at his family, but counted only two of his siblings still present and sleeping. His eyes finally caught on his mother, whose icy eyes focused on him from the dark of the cave. Whether she had been awake before or after Neptune leaving, Boreas didn't know. He thought his mother was always aware of everything that happened, like a magical sixth sense. For him, she was practically a shaman.
"You don't want to be late," she said lowly, respectful of those sleeping. "I'll have to wake your siblings in a moment. Go catch up with your brother. You're going to have a great deal of fun today."
Boreas got to his feet slowly, but he was wide awake now. Before he left he trotted over and nuzzled his mother, who gave him a firm but loving lick back and then nudged him. He stumbled slightly, but turned it into a little prance out of the cave, and then into a run once he was clear of the cave entrance.
"Where am I going?" Boreas asked aloud, stopping so abruptly that he nearly fell over. Neptune had left long enough ago that there was no sight of him. This was a good time to start his tracking skills, though.
He put his nose to the earth, sniffing the ground and moving until he picked up someone's trail. That smelled like Neptune, right? Still with his nose to the earth, Boreas followed the scent until he caught sight of something out of the corner of his eye. Turning in that direction, he saw a looming form and smiled. A bear.
He ignored the trail now, and the fact that chances were good the trail wasn't Neptune's and it was luck that had led him to the gathering place, and trotted the rest of the way over. Two smaller forms sharpened in front of the hulk of the bear when he got closer. There was Neptune, and one of the males from the other litter, too. Boreas hadn't had much contact with the other pups, but as blue as Neptune was, this boy was green. No mistaking him for one of Boreas's siblings, even if he hadn't known two of them were still sleeping.
He moved in and took a seat closer to his brother than the others, glancing up at the bear, and then at Cernunnos. He offered no smile, but nodded politely and gave a small wag of his tail in greeting. It wasn't that he was shy... he just wasn't all that outgoing with strangers. He wasn't even all that outgoing with his own siblings. Winds, normally he wouldn't be this close to Neptune at all. For some reason the brothers were all opposites, and weren't really close to one another. Sure, they played sometimes, but Neptune always seemed to distance himself from his siblings, and Aegean was always looking for a way to get a rise out of him or Neptune. Boreas could only take so much prodding before he tired of it and wanted to bite off one of Aegean's ears, although that reaction was usually only to an extreme case of Aegean's teasing. At least with Aegean, he understood Neptune's aversion to spending time with them. And Pallas was... well, his sister.
The bear had been quiet thus far, and Boreas looked at her again. Her face markings were kind of scary...

Aegean wasn't sure what he thought about this little endeavor, of course he hadn't been told much in the way of details so he hadn't much to judge by - mostly the instruction had been of the report here at this time variety, and as his brothers had already gone ahead he wasn't about to miss out on the chance to show them up, regardless of what it turned out to be. So he'd hurried along when his mother sent him on his way and arrived only a little after his blue brother's. Upon his arrival he noted the bear but refused to do more then that despite the fierce looking marking on its face, he supposed that if the beast had yet to eat his brothers it was doubtful going to start eating pups now. Rather he turned a superior look upon the green pup as he positioned himself with his brothers. Sure he wanted to beat them...but he wanted his brothers to beat this other pup just as much.

Though Athena had been awake for some time now she only just now left the den and headed towards the meeting place she was instructed to go to. It wasn't that she didn't want to be the first to arrive but more that she was mentally preparing herself for the upcoming task and needed some quiet to do so. Padding forward towards the pups that were already gathered and the large bear, Athena found a spot to sit while her gaze roamed over the others. Most of the others who were to join in this pup hunt were already here, except for her sister Gaia and a pup from the other litter from what she could tell. Once she was in her spot, Athena lowered herself onto her haunches and looked at the bear. Athena wasn't intimidated at all by the creatures large frame or claws, in fact she was quite intrigued by it all, she hadn't met a bear before. While her excitement towards the upcoming hunt as well as meeting a bear began to grow she hide it well, knowing that too much excitement could distract her from the tasks she would need to soon complete.

Aineislis had sat deadly still while the pups had come one by one, gathering about her and much to her surprise not one of them seemed at all alarmed there was a bear in close proximity to them. She had a great urge to charge at them all and teach them all to be a little bit more weary but then again she did not doubt Cocidius had informed them or his own pups where will aware of his strange bondage with numerous animals. Thus she simply cast her eyes about the wolf pups, there were two missing but if they weren't going to arrive on time that was a failing on their behalf, not hers and she would not see the others suffer for it.
Calmly she rose, slightly aware she was now circled by wolf pups and not far away were their parents and the other pack members. She walked forward a little into the circle and stared at them all and then slowly in a low, deep voice which was soften slightly but the hint of motherliness within it she announced their reason for gathering, 'Good morning, for those of you that are unaware my name is Aineislis and it is with Cocidius that I have formed an agreement that I am to teach you of your territory and hopefully in time you'll learn to nurture it to your best advantages.' She levelled her eyes and looked around at the young pups faces before carrying on, 'firstly, something less strenuous, today I have set you the task of finding various items that occur naturally in the environment, a treasure hunt if you will.' She smiled at them wondering if she'd caught their attention yet.
'The items I wish for you to find are; a deer stags antlers, stags shed there antlers over the winter once the rut has finished and they have no need for them any more, they start growing them back over the summer for the rut again in the autumn. Secondly, the hair from a Bison, they shed their winter coat and thus you'll find hair over the plains where they have travelled down to to relish the spring and early summers lush grasses. Thirdly, a bone, fourthly a turquoise stone, the humans prize these and dig the earth for them, you may find such a stone near the river where they've washed down from the mountains and finally a feather.'
She stared at the pups and wondered whether she needed to tell them as to why they were finding these items, that there was a prize to be had was a bonus, but ultimately it would begin to teach them of their environment, where they would find such an item within their territory and where notable prey animals roamed. She remained silent for a moment the question, 'any questions?' playing upon her lips but she held it back looking for an intelligent light in their eyes and an eagerness to learn, instead she informed them, 'I shall remain here, return with your item and I shall care for it, at a cost. You have until sundown, then I want you all back here.' She grinned and said only one more word, 'GO!'
((Note: you may choose to go after which ever item you desire first and as in character your wolves generally won't be following each other, I presume, thus they may ultimately retrieve the same item but OOC I don't recommend this as it's the first wolf to find that item that counts, so keep an eye on the other posts.
Items: Antlers of a deer stag, The molted hair of a Bison, A bone, A rock of turquoise, A feather.))

And there you have it, almost everyone else came. Almost. The two maybe had slept in on accident? Their loss, Neptune thought with another yawn as his brothers came as well as the girl he recognized from before, Athena. No doubt she was secretly brimming with energy at the thought of a lesson, also wanting to learn so much as she was. Thankfully neither of his brothers had time to start bringing up some form of arguement, for the bear spoke to them then about today's lesson, being . . . a scavenger essentially.
Great. His first field test of working with his colorblindness was against four other pups . . . Neptune had been hoping it would be more one on one with either the hunting captain or his parents. But at most the uncomfortable feeling he had was manifested by a slight shift in position from paw to paw, which might have just as easily been registered as quiet eagerness - well, until one looked at his stoic expression. Mentally listing off the items, as soon as the bear gave them the go, the pup shook off drowsiness and immediately bounded towards teh woods.
It was like running underwater in a way, a silver wonderland with dapples. Neptune's eyes were still adjusting to the growing light, so he stayed away from the plains for now. Surely deer wouldn't be hard to find? He could smell them anyway, as his father had taught them each various animal smells now that they were on the cusp of adolescence. Perhaps there's a system of points based on size and weight? he thought. If so, the antlers could easily net him the lead.
Only as he was walking, he stumbled without warning upon something. Grumbling, he loooked down and realized that he had tripped over a particularly shiny rock; not like one he had ever seen so far. Is this a jewel? He could only hope, for he quickly picked picked it up in his mouth and ran back, following his pawprints back to the bear.

After listening to the bears words carefully Athena raced off at the bears signal. She would find that deer antler first. She had listened to stories from her father about where the deer went and after some time of searching in that location Athena's eye fell upon the thing she was searching for. Quickly grabbing it Athena dragged the large antler back to where the bear waited. And once she made it back, she set it down at the bears paws and waited for further instructions.

Aegean set off in the opposite direction from his brothers - there didn't seem to much of a point in following them, clearly they would be going in the wrong direction and would just fell badly when they failed to find as many items as he did. Yes he was quite confident as he traipsed through the woods- not at all fazed by the fact he had yet to find anything. Obviously the bear would remove the items from the general vicinity right?
I mean it didn't make sense they he'd walk ten feet and find the all sitting in a pile - that wouldn't teach them anything at all, so he kept on searching, letting his eyes roam over the shadows with more and over scrutiny the farther he got from the bear and - hopefully - any possible thieving siblings and pups.

The tree's gave way to a more plain like environment as he continued onwards, the bear he recalled had said something about the plains... something about Bison though he couldn't recall exactly what...
Furrowing his brow slightly he looked over the land until a drafting breeze shifed something snagged on a small bush. What was that? Hair! Ah yes..he recalled now the bear had asked for just such a thing from the Bison. Of course he had to make sure this was indeed Bison hair, eagerly trotting forward he inspected the dark brown object, sniffing it to make sure it was what he wanted before heading back. Wasn't he just so cleaver? The bear would babble unending praises he was sure and tail and head high he retraced his steps.
Ah but what was this? Neptune and that vine frilled female had beat him back?!? He snorted sharply around the bison fur before setting it down. Well he'd just have to beat them in the next round. He was sure they'd cheated somehow.

Aineislis simply blinked once she had issued the word go and before long the first pup was back with a bright blue stone in his month, she simply looked at him wondering how he had found it so quickly then smiled and announced, 'Cocidius has made friends with a squirrel, who is rather mischievous, I have not seem him about yet this morning but I'm sure he's around.' She cast her eyes about in the tree tops and then down at the pup, 'I shall care for your item if you answer me this riddle correctly, if not I will not watch it and Rowan may steal it. The riddle is:
The Moon is my father, the Sea is my mother; I have a million brothers, I die when I reach land.'
