 Xenos sat at his desk filing through paperwork. Xenia had disappeared again as she always did,and left mountains of work on his desk. No one else seemed to want to do it. Scolding her never worked. She just didn't listen. Xenos was just thankful that she stayed for important meetings and social events.
He dropped the last stack of papers into a drawer,as he was finally finished. He stood up and exited the office,walking briskly down the hall.
He stopped in the library and looked around for someone of interest.

 Mariana was in the library sitting on the top of a ladder when she noticed Xenos walk in. "Hello, Xenos. How are you today?" She took a book from the shelf and glanced over the pages.

"Hello Miss Mariana."
Xenos nodded his acknowlegement. He ran a hand through his hair and took a seat nearby,picking a book up during the process.
"I am well. Have you seen my stupid decendant? She seems to have disappeared again."
He scowled and turned a page in the book,reading it intently.

Mariana chuckled and shook her head. "I haven't had the pleasure today. You may want to try in town. She is usually at the weapon shop or the book shop. She seems to be everywhere." Mariana flipped through another book before stepping down the ladder. "Has she left all the work for you again?"

Xenos set the book down; it was a tome on black magic that he would read through later. It thumped on the table as he set it down.
"I don't understand why she enjoys the town so much. Most of it is dirty,and filled with psychotic citizens."
He scowled at the thought.
"Theres a pile of paperwork,crowding my desk at the moment. Loans to be collected,items to be smuggled....I don't understand why she won't do her job."
He growled and ran a hand through his hair.

Mariana chuckled again. "Sadly, it's impossible to ever understand her way of thinking. If you need any help then don't hesitate to ask me. Business is slow for me so I am finding myself with too much time and nothing to do."

Xenos stood and pocketed the book as he looked around,perhaps thinking Xenia was arround the corner eavesdropping or ready to pull some kind of horrendous prank.
"Maybe she's a good choice to run this city. She's almost as crazy as the rest."
He smirked as he took a few steps down the bookshelf browsing. He pulled afew books out and paged through them quickly.
"I might have to take you up on that. That fool Aeon doesn't seem able to keep Xenia working."

Mariana smiled and nodded. "Usually, you have to be insane to survive in this city. Aeon is too obsessed with her to make her do anything. I'll be here or at my home if you ever want that help."

Xenos wandered up and down the bookshelves pocketing a few as he went. He stopped and slowly made his way to his seat, slumping in to it.
"Hmm...Do you think chaining her to the desk would make her work?" He questioned aloud.

Mariana laughed. "That won't work. Ignoring work is Xenia's specialty." She sits down across from Xenos and opens her book to read.

Xenos shook his head in remorse as he opened his own book. He flipped through the pages and skimmed it.
"So Mariana,what Possessed you to join the Family anyways?"
He looked up from his book and stared at her intently.

Mariana looked up and rested her chin on her hand. "Hmm. I've never really thought about it. It just happened. I had just turned 16 and moved away from my family to learn more about the world. I noticed a need for an informant in the mafia so I decided to try it out." Mariana smiled. "I'm glad I did. I've had a lot of fun and met some great people."

Xenos looked down at his book as he thought.
"I see. Great people,huh? I bet you were expecting a bunch of suit wearing italian men right?"
He chuckled slightly as he looked up from his book.

Mariana chuckled and shook her head. "I learned long ago not to expect anything. Besides, I had already heard the leader was a demon so I knew it wouldn't be a normal mafia. Not to mention the location was in one of the most insane cities in the country."

"Alas,that city is insane only because we founded it..."
Xenos shook his head in mock sadness.
"But this city is no were near as insane as The Capital,beyond the mountains. You should be glad you didn't search for a job there."
He smirked.
