 The series is about Light Yagami, a young man. His life undergoes a drastic change when he discovers a mysterious notebook, known as the "Death Note", lying on the ground. The Death Note's instructions claim that if a person's name is written within it while picturing that person's face, that person shall die. Light is initially skeptical of the notebook's authenticity, but after experimenting with it, he realizes that the Death Note is real. After meeting with the previous owner of the Death Note, a shinigami named Ryuk, Light seeks to become "the God of the New World" by passing his judgment on those he deems to be evil or who get in his way. After months of killing criminals, Light is dubbed Kira by the public and some believe him to be righteous about killing criminals. Interpol is no closer to catch him, and is going to pass the case on to the Ministry of Health as some disease, until "L" steps on the scene. Known as the best detective in the world, L has solved many cases with his assistant Watari. Working with them, L manages to confront Light, live on TV, and deduces he is in the Kanto region of Japan and he can "kill without lifting a finger". The race begins between L and Light to discover each other's identity, and a game of cat and mouse ensues between the two geniuses.

I did enjoy the live action movie. But i found that when they made the eng dub it just ruined it for me.. screw you dubbers!

I watched the original Japanese version & I cried. They butchered Death Note to hell, the acting was horrible & the actors themselves were only mediocre. The only cool thing was the C.G. for Ryuk & Rem. Thank gawd, my friend rented it & I didn't buy it. Suiseiseki says, "Desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu yo!"

I didn't know that they made a real life one, I only watched the Japanese anime type (which I loved) but they really made a non animated version?

Kurenai_Akari 3mo cutting ros3 I didn't know that they made a real life one, I only watched the Japanese anime type (which I loved) but they really made a non animated version? Oh yeah. Suiseiseki says, "Desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu yo!"

I really enjoyed the movies. They are really well made. I loved how Fujiwara Tatsuya and Matsuyama Ken'ichi were acting. Toda Erika was awesome as MisaMisa as well. Ok, the movies aren't like the anime or manga, but that's okay. I love the movies! heart

As for me, I was half and half about the movie. I liked it, but at the same time, I didn't. It wasn't even close to the actual plotline. The acting was okay though.
The dubbed version was just funny because it was off by like, 2 seconds at some points. And when I say funny, I mean sad. I'd much rather curl up with a copy of the manga.
... Actually, either way I'd rather read the manga.

I saw the anime too, I read the manga too. But I still love the movies. That's all.

well i think the japanese version for death note was better than english because it tells a story english just made it not so funny.
