Kizuka-bui poked his head out of his den, unable to sleep. His crimson eyes stared at the stars for a moment before he shook his head and climbed out of his den. It was extremely late. Everything that was remotely edible was probably sleeping, so he wouldn't be able to get a meal. He stretched out, and proceeded to walk in a random direction. Perhaps a small walk before trying to go back to sleep?
His white tail swished freely behind him as he trotted through the savannah grass. Pity nothing was around. He was getting pretty hungry too...

Equally crimson eyes stared out and blinked blearily. He was tired, so very tired from his long trek through the unclaimed territories, darting between prides and Coalitions and who knew what else. Unlike the white male, Yoru knew how and where to get the best meals in the night time. He lived for it; he blended in so well with the night, save for a few minor markings.
He knew how to survive at night because his mother had taught him how to do it. His father helped, too, but Yoru only remembered taking after his mother in the hunting department. Of course, he ignored the fact he could hardly remember what either of them looked like, much less the names of his siblings or how many he had.
The black hyena crept through tall grasses, trying to be as quiet as he could. In the distance, he heard the grass moving in a frantic manner. A meal out this late? How quaint. Black ears folded back against his head as he ducked it under the grass, sniffing. Something edible indeed. A grin appeared on his face as he picked up his pace. Better not hide, prey. You're going to regret it. His thoughts rang like a song in his head.

The hyena continued to trot along, unaware of the presence of another. What did he have to fear anyways? He could take down anything that came into his path. Kizu skid to an abrupt halt, as he spotted a small hole not too far away. He sniffed at the air cautiously, hoping to catch a whiff of what may be in that hole. He smelled warmth, and the scent of prey.
Drooling, Kizuka crouched low, crawling silently towards the hole, ready to catch himself some dinner.

The pray had stopped for a minute, then trotted. Oooh, this would be fun. He crawled down on his stomach and shifted through the grass, still not seeing what he was going to be attacking. All he smelled was food. That's all Yoru even cared about. The starving male wouldn't even care if it was just a genet kit. He was going to eat it.
With a growl, he jumped, knowing he was close and was not pleasantly surprised when he saw it was a white hyena. "Gods above!" he whispered under his breath in a warning growl. Maybe the other male would move.

Kizuka was just a few feet away from the little hole knowing that the prey would soon fill his stomach until his ears picked up a growl not too far away. He froze, not knowing if he should ignore it or acknowledge it. He sniffed the air, smelling the scent of another hyena mingling with the scent of dinner. Damn. Was he after the same thing too?
Slowly, he turned his head around, scanning the area for this hyena. "Whaddya want?" he whispered with an annoyed growl. "I saw this first."

He had to skid to a stop and growled low in his throat when he saw another hyena and not what he thought it was. The black male narrowed his eyes and snorted a bit more. "I didn't know it was yours. I thought you were a hog or something. Warn a hyena next time. Or drag your kill somewhere else. Leave it out here and the wild dogs are bound to gang up on you and steal it." His tail flicked in annoyance as did his ears.
Still, Kizuka caught his attention in the looks department. Almost completely polar opposite of himself.

"A hog?" he repeated, a bit louder than he meant to. How the hell could someone mistake a hyena for a hog? Especially a fellow hyena. But, he didn't question any further as it would probably lead to a fight, and also, Kizu wasn't the best fighter. He had a hard time catching prey with his white coat as it is.
"Well..." the hyena said, with a slight annoyed undertone, "It's still alive in that hole." with his paw his pointed at the small burrow. "I might've been able to have it for dinner tonight if you didn't come and intrude." Kizu sat on his haunches, squinting in the darkness to see this other hyena. He saw no one. Either this male was hiding, or Kizu was just blind as a bat.

"....." He didn't have anything to respond to that. But, seeing the other male squinting, trying to look for him, Yoru took pity and stepped closer. He blended with the night quite well, save for his legs and markings around his eyes. The back stripes weren't noticeable to anyone from the front.
So he was after a hog, too? His ears perked at that and he sighed. Time for introductions to ask for help taking down the thing. Warthogs could be dangerous when they're startled and on the attack. Especially with those tusks. Yoru was going to go for a small one since it would have been just him hunting, but with another male helping him.. One warthog was big enough for the two of them.
"I'm Yoru'damudour. ...Yoru for short."

As the other hyena stepped into view, Kizu had to adjust his eyes to realize that the other male was black. Save for his white legs. Immediately, Kizu was jealous. This one had been blessed with a dark coat while he was noticeable everywhere. He let out a little grunt, trying to not let it get to him.
"Kizuka-bui...Kizu for short." he said as he plopped down on his haunches rather ungracefully. Maybe he'd just wait till morning...wait for that little rabbit to pop out of its hole...right into his waiting mouth.
"So..." he said, glancing at Yoru, trying not to think about his darker coat, "What brings you out here...?

Peppermint Coffee Why would he want to answer this male? The creeping lonliness was coming back and he looked away. He had too. For some reason, his brain wouldn't let him look at Kizu while he spoke next. Shy? Maybe not, maybe. He wasn't quite sure. "I.... was looking for game. ....And a place to settle down to until morning." Yoru looked kind of thin. His big ears flicked as he listened and then he looked back at Kizu. "You?" He felt... so lame for this, no kidding. Gekokoko Oh. Well. They both had the same goal in mind. Barely noticing that Yoru was a little on the thin side, Kizu decided that they should at least team up together and get food. "How about..." he started, knowing he would most likely regret this later, "...maybe we could team up? Get food together...?" he ventured. "Cause I was getting food too..." he stared at the rabbit hole again.
