Dark paws stretched forward against the new light of the morning. The hunt of the night was bountiful. She had dug a fat hare out of its hole and managed to snap up some left-overs a lion or cheetah had left behind in haste or lax.
The hyena gave a small yawn before shaking the thick bangs out of her blue eyes. She was yet unwilling to move from her warm sleeping spot, and it looked as if her small pink companion did not wish to leave either.
Usiku, in fact, groans and curled closer to the dark body to obtain more warmth that she seemed to lose as the large female moved. "Roxoo, dun move," she mumbled in her sleep and the large hyena could only smile.
Deciding against leaving, Roxo settled and relaxed back in her spot next to the small serval that seemed to dwarf her.

Padding through the cool sand, Kizuka-bui was returning to his den, his small breakfast of hare in his jaws. He was an early-riser; and an early-sleeper. But that was only because he really had nothing else to do. He didn't know anyone, he had no companion, it was just him. Alone on this land.
He squinted as he continued to walk, the sun's rays blinding him as he walked into his den.

Blue eyes narrowed her eyes as a figure crossed her line of vision. Normally, she would ignore the presence if it seemed far enough away, but figure was pretty close. She pushed herself up, ignoring the protests of Usiku. She hesitated in waking up the small feline and in a last minute decision kept the serval sleeping.
The purple female steeled her eyes, making her way closer to the figure, hoping not to gain its attention, but obviously not making the effort to hide herself.
She would confront the other - hyena, she noted - if he or she would decide to go for her companion. For now, she would simply observe.
He probably hadn't even spotted her yet, but she wouldn't take chances.

The male hyena slipped into his den which was situated behind a large boulder, unaware of someone following him. He didn't have a reason so be so onguard. He wasn't really friends or enemies with anyone anyways.
Once inside, he plopped down his meal and his head soon followed, ripping the carcass apart hungrily. Sleeping for that long without food always made him hungry. Pretty soon, his white muzzle was covered in blood and stray hairs. Kizu was never a clean eater. Probably cause he had no one to impress anyways. Pretty soon, he was done with his meal, the only things remaining were the bones, skin and various organs. He piled the skin ontop, not wanting anything to spill out. Picking it up in his mouth, he exited his den only to see another hyena in the distance.
He froze, unsure of what to do. He couldn't talk of course, there was something in his mouth. Was he to wag his tail? Stick it straight up?

Ah, so she was finally spotted. Roxo frowned. perhaps this creature wasn't a threat after all, if it didn't notice her. Or perhaps just cocky. She inched closer but the white figure seemed frozen and unsure.
"Hello," she called out, leaving the uncertainty and coldness out of her voice - merely a faint curiosity and impassiveness. Should the creature attack, she could escape with Usiku or fight back. She was a small female, but larger than most male hyenas.
Still, she watched with a certain intensity that was more of a forced inquiry then animosity or mistrust.

Oh no. It spoke! Now he really had to do something. Kizu stepped closer, his tail swaying side to side slowly. Should he try and talk or should he spit out what he was currently holding?
Mhm. It was a female hyena. So now he really had to do something. He had heard that some females were rather demanding, so he knew that there was a chance that this one was demanding. Though, the way she looked at him, she was probably one of the demanding types. Having no choice, he spit out his leftovers onto the ground, spitting out the loose hairs that was in his mouth. Oh gods. He probably looked like a complete idiot right now, hacking and spitting.
"H-hey." Kizu said, his voice low. His crimson eyes looked elsewhere, as he really didn't want to know or see how the female was looking at him now.

Roxo could only give a sigh at the reaction she received. It wasn't a bad sigh. She moved a little closer, noting that the hyena was male. The cold eyes turned from the ice of the mountains to clear calm lake.
"I hope I don't seem imposing or anything," she sighed, shaking her head. She was surprised that he didn't run or attack with her look. But she gave a small grin. Most would run - hyenas and small felines and dogs. "I apologize if I was," she gave a small bow.
"My name is Roxo," she told him hesitantly, hoping to spark conversation. Hyenas were pack animals - she, at least, craved some sort of contact with her own kind and companionship.
He was the first one she had actually approached since she left her pack.

"Er...you're not..." Kizu said, rubbing his tongue on the roof of his mouth. Still a little bit of hair... "There's no need to be sorry. I just wanted to throw away the remains of my breakfast. That's all."
Roxo. Nice sounding name he supposed. "I'm Kizuka-bui. Good morning." he gave her a small smile, as he glanced towards the rising sun. "I'm guessing you live around here?" He supposed he would just have to leave his carcass here, or throw it away some other time. She didn't seem as demanding or bad as he had thought earlier. Looks were deceiving he thought.

The darker female gave a small grin. "Nice to meet you," she told him kindly. She shifted. "I'm just passing through with my young companion." She continued, shifting on her paws.
"I didn't scout well enough, I guess..." She frowned. She hadn't realized anyone had lived here. "Do you? Live around here, I mean," She shook her head at her foolish questions. But perhaps, that was why she hadn't noticed him?
Either way, she didn't notice him. He was nice, any how, so she saw no harm in her carelessness. However, if he had been dangerous, she would have never forgiven herself for such a mistake.
She had Usiku to think about, after all.

"...Young companion?" Kizu tilted his head, "Shouldn't you be...er...protecting it or something?" Or maybe she thought that the creature would not be in danger? Well...it was still kind of risky in his opinion.
Kizu nodded, pointing with his snout to a big boulder, "I live behind there. I've been living there for quite a while now I suppose." How long he was living there, he didn't know. He wasn't really the type to keep track of silly things like that.
"I'm guessing your new here?" or maybe she wasn't. Maybe he was just an idiot for not noticing that someone could be living here. That really was a possibility as Kizu wasn't really the sharpest of hyenas. Especially when it came to noticing things.

She tilted her head a bit. "I had to make sure you wouldn't attack first," she responded in a sort of mater a-fact tone. "I couldn't tell what you were from a distance," she informed him. She shook her head. "She's sleeping, and not too far from here. I'd be able to see if something decided to go after her."
She gave a nod - so he did live here, and she wondered how she didn't spot him before now. Then again, she hadn't been in these area long. Two days at the most.
"I've been traveling - trying to find someplace to go, ya know? I've not been in this area long."

Kizu nodded, understanding completely, "I don't blame you." he said truthfully. "So...what is she? A cub or something?" Perhaps she was a mother? But she didn't look like one...nor would she be alone.
"Someplace to go?" he looked around the area once more. "It's not too bad here I guess. You have a lot to eat around here...though sometimes finding water is a bit hard."

"Oh, no, not a cub," Roxo shook her head a little, "But I found her when she was one. She grew into an adult more quickly then a hyena, but she's still child-like in mentality." The purple hyena gave a small hum. "I think she called herself a serval."
Roxo gave a small smile. This male was quite kind, especially with telling her of the area. "I'll keep that in mind," she told him. "Food is hard to come by when traveling." She sighed a bit.
Suddenly she paused. "I hope I'm not intruding on your territory," She said apologetically. She had planned to stay here for a while before moving again, but if she was intruding, she would be sure to move again.

Kizu nodded slowly. So, a serval huh? He wondered when he would be able to have a small companion with him at all times. The male laughed, "So you're still acting like a mother I guess."
"Oh no. Not at all." he shook his head, "I don't really plan on having territory anyways. Too much work." and also, he hated confrontation. And fighting. Basically anything that really required him to move.

The darker hyena gave a small laugh. "I suppose so. I never thought of it that way, really." The female said thoughtfully. "But yes. I can't just not protect her, though. She's just so small," Roxo told him airily.
She smiled at the male. Territory was a lot to maintain, but worth it if you sought to protect a family or such. "Alright," she gave a small not. "I hope you don't mind if I stick close by. You seem like a nice guy," she told him sincerely.
