Sungura was getting used to life outside of the den. His sister, Kipofu, her ratel, and himself had been wandering farther and farther from their mother and father day after day. As Kipofu grew braver, Sungura grew more scared and jumpy of everything. Especially with all the talk of the demons and the shadows outside of their borders.
Today Sungura was by himself, wandering around the dens, not feeling courageous without his sister there. He pawed at some rocks and practiced his growl at them, not that they could actually respond to what he felt was a mighty roar. Or at least as mighty as he could possibly muster.
"Takes this shadow!" Sungura hissed, smacking at a branch near the rocks and promptly being smacked back by the branch as it recoiled. He held his nose in his paws and whined loudly, little tears coming to his face.

Mizuka-sisimka stalked the grasses, red-tipped tail swishing behind him. He wanted to be like his eldest brother...a great stalker and hunter and protector! But to get there...he needed practice! Lots of it, since he stood out pretty well. He yelped when he heard a 'smack' and a whine, fur going on end and ears rushing back. What was that?!
The cub stalked towards the source of the sound...and blinked. And blinked again. And perked up. One of his big sister Taswira's babies! He bunched up and leapt, playfully trying to pounce his nephew.
"Why you cryin', silly? Boys don't cry!" He paused. "Except when their Mommies are around. Then it's okay."

Sungura got knocked over by the white and red bundle of energy. It was his older uncle, which he was still very confused about because his uncle was a baby like him and not like his other uncle, Hekima, who was big and strong and sometimes made him really nervous.
The little dark cub let out a whine underneath his cousin and made a face, "I can't help it, the eye wateries just happen when I get a boo-boo."
Sungura wiggled out from underneath Mizuka and pawed at him sheepishly. He was far from the valiant protector that most of the pride's lions were. He was too sweet for that. The other day he apologized to a bug he ended up stepping on and squished. It really made him sad.
