Kahya was grazing in the fields, letting the late spring sun soak her in warmth. She was wandering through the vast, empty stretches of green by herself, even though she didn't really like being alone. Ever since her and Cadmium had run away from home, mother didn't really trust her that much, and knew that she would never really leave by herself. Kahya was someone who put up a huge show and caused a scene, but never really exploded if she didn't have ammunition. In her case, ammunition was simply someone else to go along with her crazy ideas and push them even further. Even so, she was actually enjoying her day, and trotted with a steady skip in the direction of the lake.

Rolling in the grass and dirt in the middle of the wide open field was Brian. He was happy to be away from his family, finally find someone new or just be alone.Maybe this get away from his family and the heart ache was the best for him.Huffing and puffing Brian stirred up the dust in the middle of a field. He whinnied and laughed having fun just by himself. Finally he laid upon his side and just smiled up at the blue sky.

Kahya came to a halt as she spotted someone up ahead. It was a male horse, and he was lying in the grass. Her mother had told her never to talk to strangers, but he seemed pretty harmless to her. Nevertheless, she wanted to avoid any unnecessary confrontation, and looked for another way around him to find her favorite spot at the lake.
She scanned her surroundings, but couldn't find any way around him that didn't require her looking like a coward. Plus, she was too lazy to make a loop around him. He was in her way, so he should be inclined to move.
She lifted her head up high and walked straight towards him proudly. She felt strangely self-conscious, but confident because she knew there was nothing to worry about. She snorted confidently to herself and averted her eyes away from him on her way.

Brian heard a soft hoof beat coming towards him.Laying on his belly he looked around.Noticing a green mare coming towards him she didn't even look like she knew he was there.Shrugging his shoulders he laid back down and huffs softly.A huge smile upon his face and his fur warm from the sun.Very nice day to be out from the teepee. Hearing the mare coming closer he just laid there,if she stepped on him, she'd step on him.No big deal. It'd be his fault in the first place for being in the way.

Kahya approached him, but he didn't seem to move. She stopped and cleared her throat loudly. "Excuse me," she beckoned. "You're kind of in my way mister." her voice was very soft, almost gentle, making her words seem even more nasty than she intended them to be. Others often found her very rude, when really, she was simply just stating her own thoughts.

Brian's head quickly shot up and looked at the mare.It was her, standing quickly he moved out of her way."I'm quite sorry.I guess i shouldn't lay right in the middle of the fields should i..."He laughed nervously.

Kahya grunted and stalked past the stallion, content with the way things had turned out. She always got what she wanted. She hadn't realized how powerfully she was stomping onto the ground until she realized that she was leaving deep hoof-prints behind her. She stopped, and turned back to look at the stranger. A thought passed her mind as she asked him, "Do you wanna come to the lake with me?" The strange impulse was gone as quickly as it had come, and she was left wondering why on earth she was asking this stranger to hang out with her. Mother would sooo disapprove! The thought lingered behind for a while, and she liked the taste of danger.

Brian watched the female put imprints of her hooves into the ground that he once laid upon.Just raising a brow he heard her speak."To the lake?Sure, why not.Its better than laying here all day, right?"He smiled and started to walk with her.Why he agreed,he was unsure of.Just walking next to her he started to state his name."My name is Brian, whats yours?"It was his nature to be so nice to everyone, when he really didn't want to be.But he felt it was the right thing.

"My name is Kahya." she said. Brian was awfully nice. It had been a while since she had met a genuinely nice soquili. Since she had been born, her life had been shifty and full of drama, and it felt like kind of a relief to be around someone who was actually nice. She had always been one to find the bad influences. "Kahya means rock in Turkish, some far, far away dialect apparently." she explained, feeling the need to fill the silences. "Mother named me Kahya, because thats what our teepee-human calls me. Mother says its because I'm stubborn and impenetrable. Like a rock." She smiled a grand smile, proud of the meaning behind her name. It made her feel special somehow. It was the only thing that belonged to her, and was unique to her. She had always followed others, and now she wanted to be strong enough to be by herself. For Kahya, this simply meant summoning enough courage to stand up to her family. "So... you come around here often?" she asked. Despite the fact that she lived nearby, she hadn't really strayed away from her family much.

"Beautiful name."He smiled at her story."It is special to you isn't it?You may come off as meann. But you seem like a misunderstood Doll."Brian gave a light sigh,a happy one. Finally someone to speak to besides his family."Like a rock huh?"His mother called him Bribri,so that's how he got the name Brian. He gave a reassuring smile and flicked his tail."I live at the nearest river from here. There would lye my family and my teepee."

Misunderstood doll... No one had ever put it that way before... Mother had just claimed it was an attitude problem. Kahya liked her attitude problem. It made her different, and likeable. And even though she was difficult, she liked it when people made an effort to please her. "My family lives near the sea, but I'm here on a small trip with my mother and sister." Kahya explained. "My sis and I ran away, and mother is trying to re-connect with us." Kahya laughed away at the way it sounded. It was all so cheesy, and mother really had to try harder to tame her - she liked the way she was. Up ahead, the lake was beginning to show. The sun shimmering off the surface of the cool, calm water was arousingly beautiful, and made Kahya want to get right in. She looked at Brian. "You know what..." she begun. "Let's go in."

"I love my mother, she wants whats best for me.But she doesn't try to control my life. Why does your mother do that?I don't seem to understand."He laughed lightly and ran with her.Niele (his mother) never tried to change his life, nor tell him what he could or couldn't do.He grew up just fine, but she did teach him manners.Shrugging Brian noticed the lake."You wanna go there?"Thinking he nodded."I'll race you!"He took off quickly towards the lake.

Kahya pondered the question. "I guess she doesn't trust me. But then again, not many do." she flashed her trademark smile, and made a dash for the lake. She was trailing just behind him, so she pushed her legs a little further, until she was in an actual, full sprint towards the lake. She refused to lose. She laughed coquettishly as she finally caught up with him. They were almost at the lake.

"Really? She seems quite over protective."He ran beside her,the both of them going head to head for the lake."I'm not going to let yo-"Brian tripped over himself and tumbled into the lake.Laughing his mane and tail were soaking wet.Walking to the edge of the lake,he looked at her."I guess i'm way too clumsy these days."Laughing more he gave her a small smile. Finally,he was away from the drama and having fun for once.Brian loved it out here with Kahya,he was having fun even though they had a rough start.
