Infinity sighed, flicking the tip of his tail rhythmically against the stream he had lain besides, looking at his reflection. He was still surprised by the striking similarities between his brother, Zero, and himself. Sometimes he believed – even wished – he was his brother, but it wasn’t just looks that made someone. Their personalities were polar opposites and, besides, everyone they had known could tell them apart – if not by the bracelets they purposely wore on separate paws, then by scent.

With a snort, he splashed the stream with his tail, breaking the image of himself. He didn’t want to think such thoughts. Only recently had he met up with his brother out in the wild and, for the first time in his life, told him how he really felt, that the world wasn’t all fun and games, and that not everyone enjoyed Zero’s presence, him most of all. He had even told him he was disgusted to have his brother’s face. And after that, he had left.

Although he desperately hoped his brother had gone back home, he doubted it. Most likely, his brother was still waiting for the knowledge to sink in. No one had ever told his brother they didn’t like him.

Slowly he stood, peering around cautiously. He had grown up with a pampered, if not isolated, life, and he was still new to the wild. There were many things to learn, and more things to be cautious of, but it was still better to be out here than back home, he thought. And, besides, his fore claws (which were so long they couldn’t even retract all the way, and always stuck out) and horns usually intimated potential threats before it even reached him.

Reassured, he went about his way.

-will put image here once her cert comes-

Emilia had been following the small stream for hours, her pace varying according to her stormy thoughts. It had been a few days since she had left her family behind, and it had been the first time in her whole short life. Her family had been proper and well kept, with a prideful, knowledgeable father, proper well-to-do mother, and the five beautiful, well-behaving children, including herself. She had loved family life and had done everything her parents ever told her to do--in fact, she felt as if she was the favorite of the litter, and why not? Her parents always told her how kind and pure-hearted she was, and constantly remarked on her beauty. She may have become conceited and egotistic, had not her siblings ran her out because of jealousy. Now she was alone, tired, and lost. She didn't care where she went, as long as she kept walking. It was the only thing that kept her mind off of her family.

She looked ahead in the trees, wondering what lay before her. Would she have the strength to continue on by herself? She could only hope.

Weaving between the large, aging trees, Infinity found himself closing his eyes and inhaling deeply. A myriad of scents filled his senses, and he felt some pride at being able to recognize most of them. There was a sparrow above, some moldy moss growing close to a tree, the scent of old squirrel, and—

He blinked, looking around. It was something that smelled like a tiger, but no one that he recognized. Wary but filled with curiosity (he had yet to meet anyone else save for his brother ever since he had left his home) he put a tentative paw forward, then another, and another. When he thought he was close enough, he hid behind a tree and peered out and whoever it was, ears pressed forward.

Whoever it was – a female, most likely – didn’t seem so happy. She seemed tired and hungry and lost, which worried him. He was the same way when he had first come here and although he wanted to help, he didn’t want to help, either, if that made any sense. He had one too many experiences with others who had brushed him off and ignored him in favor of his brother back home. He wasn’t sure if the same would apply – after all, he wasn’t in his home, and his brother was nowhere to be seen – but he was too shy to try and risk it.
