My 214 is in need of more power...It hasnt seen a good service since 2000 and until 2008 it was only checked over by an uncle once a year...Is there a cheap (As in under $250 cheap) way to catch all those horses that my engine has probably lost over the past years?

Well there is always Seafoam. This is on of the few snake oil treatments that work ridiculously well. It will produce a ton of smoke and will turn your oil pure black, which means of course you should change it (I recommend Penzoil). After that you should invest in a compression checker to see if the compression is still good. If the compression is off you'll need a rebuild.
if you have done no previous modification to the engine, a simple air intake and a good bleeding of all fluids can get you 20 - 40 hoses back in the stable

So did you do it?
Not yet, as always troublesome reality always sets in neutral First it's been shite weather, then I've had to invest all my time in sorting out college and work...And now I only have £14 to my name thanks to an unexpected lost bet to an army buddy
