Starting now, thanks for waiting!

The setup is fairly complicated; pm me if you have any questions.
Also, pm your profiles to me and I will post them here.
Thank you!

In a world where perfection is so often obsessed over, many parents have been led to believe that to obtain "perfected" versions of themselves or their children is in vogue. At the moment, only privileged officials or advanced science corporations have been able to obtain this status. The large production of "perfect clones" has resulted in a generation of cast out "imperfect children."
Each Perfect Child is different. They have been more/less accepted into society, some with greater acceptance than their originals. They assume themselves to be their own people, and generally want to keep living and keep their newly assumed position.
Imperfect Children have become very unpopular. Because of this, people who can't afford them or can't obtain them may pressure their imperfect children to perfect themselves. Those I.C. that have been cast out wander the streets alone, or join in groups, planning to someday regain their places in life.

Imperfect Children and their doubles may only be doubles in origin-- they don't have to look alike. Sometimes they are too difficult to tell apart, sometimes the difference is more obvious.

So here's the game.

You either create [1] One character and his/her perfect double, or [2] A supporting character (or more of those). Any significant people in their lives that need to be noted should be included in the bio. Try to be complete, as these profiles are very important for your roles in this RP smile

Creating more than one of these sets is totally fine.
Also, from here onward, the official term for the clones/copies/perfectversion/etc. will be Doubles. So people creating a pair will be creating the Original and the Double.

All acting characters should be human. Mutants do exist in this world, but only as a result of scientific experiments- they are not mythical creatures. Magical abilities are not encouraged!
Keep in mind that the meaning of the word "perfect" is different for everyone-- or can be, so be creative as possible!

Good luck! smile Suggested profile formats are included below.undefined

Profiles

Username: Silver of Ink
(Original)
Name: Mariah Iekelazi
Age: 19
Gender: female
Occupation: Athlete (mainly ice skating, swimming, horseback riding), sophomore college student
Goals/Intentions: To redeem her grandfather's honor in athletics, after being suppressed by her mother for most of her life. She dislikes being considered an imperfect by her mother, but can ignore it. Her prowess in athletics allows her to appear to some as a perfect child, or at least acceptable in society.
Anything else/Personal Bio: For most of her life, Mariah's mother tried to get her to "stay away from those nasty sports, get yourself married and raise a family". She was able to escape the house every so often to train though, and was finally able to break away all together. Soon after, her mother acquired a perfect child and was able to forget about Mariah completely. Her father has tried to reason with her mother, but to little avail; thus he secretly supports her. With his support she was able to obtain land, materials and money for a shack (home), land for her horse (Atesia, which means Imperfection) and school.
Picture: NOT MY ART! All credit to original artist.

(Double)
Name: Nicknamed Nefertiti (means Perfection has arrived) or Neti.
Differences: Obedient, complies to her mother's wishes, no interest in athletics, coward.
While Neti looks the same as Mariah, she has none of Mariah's agility, endurance, stamina, or tolerance (Mariah has a high pain tolerance, while Neti is a bit of a wimp). Unless it comes to doing chores or shopping that is--that Neti could do for forever.
Goals/Intentions: To obey Mariah's mother's wishes, spend money, find a person to marry, and raise a family. Also, as a double, to prove that she is the real Mariah.
How the double was obtained: Her family is very wealthy and was able to purchase one from a scientific corporation.

(Supporting Character)
Name: Tana Iekelazi
Age: 31
Gender: female
Occupation: wife and doting mother
Goals/Intentions: To make someone's life as materialistically perfect as possible. To raise what she sees as a perfect daughter.
Anything else/Personal Bio: Growing up poor, Tana dreamed since she was young about having everything be perfect--to her, shopping, hanging out, and doing whatever pleased her at the time. Realizing it was too late for her to have that life, she resolved to make it possible for someone else by cultivating and perfecting her domestic skills. Getting married marked a watershed for the better in her life, which led her to believe that marriage was good, even without love. When Mariah disagreed with her plan for material perfection, she hired a science company to artificially create the organism that would be the perfect subject of her ambition.

(Original)
Name: Danica
Age: 13
Gender: female
Occupation: Group member
Goals/Intentions: to regain her place in her family
Anything else/Personal Bio: Her father Dan and her mother Lucy have cast her aside onto the streets, where she met her friend, Mick, who introduced her into the group of castaways called Silent Dagger. The leader is mysterious and often not seen, Danica doesn't know the leader's name.
Picture:

(No pointed ears. Not my art)

(Double)
Name: Danella
Differences: She is what Danica never could be. She is a straight A student and has perfect habits, but is slightly evil
Goals/Intentions: To never let Danica back into the family.
How the double was obtained (connections?): Danella was created in a lab that Dan and Lucy gave a lot of money to.

----

Username: Mirelstorm
(Original)
Name: Phyllis Lane
Age: 17
Gender: female
Occupation: vocalist, freshman college student
Goals/Intentions: To put down all of the companies producing "perfect" clones, to make producing clones illegal. She wants her place back in the family. She also has trouble deciding between her education and singing- she is a brilliant student, but can't set her priorities straight.
Anything else/Personal Bio: Her family disliked her uncompetitive and unmotivated attitude, and were tired of feeling embarrassed over having a daughter with no merits or talents of value in their eyes. (They valued her education more) By then, she was already a famous vocalist in her hometown- however, the record company and producer also opted to replace her with her copy. She separated from her family after being replaced, and created a haven for Imperfects that also acted as a anti-government rebel group called MARK. She currently pays for her own college tuition through various side jobs, a clean record as vocalist in another company, and MARK activities. Phyllis is generally weak-willed and runs away from her problems- MARK and the government are probably the only things she has ever really given all of her effort to.

(not mine)

(Double)
Name: "Jam" Phyllis Lane
Differences: Extremely eager to please, pays boys little to no interest except as work partners. She is an extremely accommodating person (where Phyllis is stubborn), and is nice to everyone. She makes friends extremely quickly (very charismatic where Phyllis is awkward), but is in fact a very lonely person because she doesn't know how to trust others, especially when it comes to the production of "perfect children." Although she feels guilty for taking Phyllis's place in the family, she loves her life there and wouldn't trade it for anything else.
Goals/Intentions: to please her parents, and to excel wherever she goes
How the double was obtained (connections?): parents are scientists at Lewis's company

(Supporting Character)
Name: Lewis
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Occupation: director at one of the most advanced technological institutions in the world, finished school.
Goals/Intentions: Lewis wants to beat out his original mother's company and take it over, forcing her to admit that he's the more capable scientist. His main goal for the company (DOUBLE Corporation, or DB Corp. for short.) is to further his research and make profit- he doesn't really care what distributing perfect clones does to the originals' lives.
Anything else/Personal Bio: He had a "perfect" clone created of his mother- but not to replace a dead parent; his mother is still alive. Because they could not get along, his mother often subjected him to physical abuse. They never resolved their differences, and Lewis split up with his original mother to start his own research company. They haven't communicated with each other since.
He is also closely connected with the government- there is much talk of his company helping mass-produce an Doubles army.
He's also made secret deals with politicians to help replace their political opponents. Because cloning has even been brought into the government, it's in disarray. Most of the government is now composed of Doubles.

Picture:

----

Username: Lyrica Pie
Name: Christrose (Rose) Landernorm
Age: 16
Gender: female
Occupation: Student, Musician
Goals/Intentions: To show her mother that she's not going to turn out "evil" and to find her birthfather and figure out the truth behind his actions.
Anything else/Personal Bio: Straight As, second chair violin, exemplary community service performance. One would think she were the paragon daughter. But for Tiffany Landernorm, a single mother living on near-minimum wage, Christrose's quintessential records are only reminders of her ex-boyfriend, another similarly "perfect" person--and she worries that Christrose will turn out like him. When a man courting her mother appeared with a Double of her, Christrose was shocked and horrified, but sympathetic of the double. She cares for Peony very much and hopes that in the end, Peony will be accepted into the family. At present she lives in a secret room in Steven Corbolo's office.
Picture: Not my art. A darker brown though?

(Double)
Name: Peony Landernorm
Differences: More talkative and less shy in personality, Peony is also more vain and less studious. She is understanding but less afraid to voice her own opinion.
Goals/Intentions: To make the Tiffany Landernorm realize that Christrose is fine as she is and that she has to let go of her past. Unlike most doubles, Peony loves her original like a sister and wants Christrose to stay.
How the double was obtained (connections?): Tiffany Landernorm (the mother) was an old friend of the vice president of a double-making company, Steven Corbolo. Said official decided to create a double as a surprise present for Tiffany, in his courtship of her.

2] Supporting character
Name: Tiffany Landernorm
Age: 36
Gender: female
Occupation: Waitress and chef, along with a few odd jobs.
Goals/Intentions: To convince Christrose to care more about herself and to ensure her a happy life. For herself, she wants to pursue her dream of being a writer or director and sort out her personal life.
Anything else/Personal Bio: She moved to the city for her high school years, and there met Kevin Jackson, the quiet concertmaster, valedictorian, and paradigm of perfection. Although she wasn't a top student, she was a diligent one, and the two--somehow--fell in love. From her point of view, he used her until he was bored with her and then abandoned her with a child; however, she still loved him very much and did not bring the case to court. She believed in his innocence of the matter until she saw how similar Christrose was to him; after Steven's present--Peony--she was tempted to abandon Christrose--Steven promised that he could safely "dispose" of the original--but has not yet let go completely.
Picture: Not my Art.

2] Supporting character
Name: Steven Corbolo
Age: 37
Gender: male
Occupation: Vice President of Lewis's company, DB
Goals/Intentions: To marry Tiffany as revenge for Kevin beating him in everything when they were younger.
Anything else/Personal Bio: He grew up as "the best friend"--always the one in the shadow, always the one who never got enough attention. Now he's the little-known vice president of a well-known company, and wealthy beyond his dreams. He holds a strange grudge against his old best friend--Kevin--and has devoted his surplus energies to wreaking havoc with the love of Kevin's life. He gave her Peony as a present--somehow making the double without her or Christrose's knowing-- hoping the double would support his case, but was sorely disappointed; for revenge on that point, he treats Christrose cruelly. After that-- he thinks-- he will overthrow Lewis and achieve world power through the power of the doubles.
Picture: Not my art.

2] Supporting character
Name: Kevin Jackson
Age: 36
Gender: male
Occupation: Architect, musician,
Goals/Intentions: To get away from his domineering parents, find Tiffany, and reconnect with Steven.
Anything else/Personal Bio: Never enough. Straight A+ student, concertmaster by the second semester of his freshman year, honored by the governor were examples of his "laziness" in his parents' eyes--nothing was ever good enough for them--but he never told anyone, not even his best friend from elementary school. In high school, he finally found someone he could trust to listen and understand him--someone to confide in--only to have that person torn away by his dominating parents because she was "not good enough for him". At present, he's all but a part-time slave, catering to their every order.

"We warned you," Phyllis's mother spoke stiffly, her eyes never leaving the television screen. "We can't tolerate your misbehavior anymore. From now on, this girl is our Phyllis Lane."
The woman turned to the other girl- that girl who looked exactly like her- and her voice became infused with warmth and familiarity. "Come here, Phyl-darling. We need to chat about what's to be done about your room. It's too much full of that music stuff- I'll have it cleaned up nicely for you so you can fully concentrate on your homework..."

"Hey! Is Phyllis here now? I need to ask her about a question I need answered for my schoolwork!" Phyllis's brother yelled, running down the stairs.

Phyllis turned to answer him, but froze as he excitedly ran past her and to her Double. Her father quietly approached behind him and sat beside his wife and son showering affection over the other Phyllis. They had quietly excluded her from their lives. This was the final straw. Still somewhat numb with disbelief, she turned and walked out of the house for the last time.

-----------------------------------------------

"Jam" Phyllis Lane knew nothing about this whole Original-Double business- all she cared about was making her family happy. She aced her tests, and did well in school, did them proud- and they gave her their love. But at times she wondered about what had happened to the other Phyllis. That day, the other girl had walked out and had never been seen again. Jam had begun to attend university in Phyllis's place, but had never seen her around. She'd either quit, or enrolled in another school. Replacing Phyllis had been easy. The company that sponsored Phyllis's releases even took more of a liking to her- she had the same voice as Phyllis did, and was much easier to work with.

Sometimes she worried about whether Phyllis would one day come back and try to reclaim her place.

But- as an afterthought, seeing how Phyllis was as weak-willed as she was, she probably wouldn't try something so rash, Jam reasoned. They'd probably never meet again. As long as she still had Phyllis's (now Jam's) family, she was sure her own happiness would be guaranteed. Nothing could ruin it.

Eh. Mariah was standing at her closet, looking for something to wear. Not that there was a great selection or anything. When she'd been kicked out, she hadn't exactly been able to take a lot of clothes.

It was the final week of summer before school resumed. Aside from taking care of Atesia, she had a week all to herself--no contests, no meets, no races.

With a sigh, she grabbed the first thing her hand touched and put it on. She glanced around the room and decided the first thing to do would be to clean up the house. Shack.

She first threw the dirty sheets and clothes out the window and into a laundry basket outside and then proceeded to pick up the various trinkets there. With that room looking considerably cleaner--correction, emptier--she proceeded to the bathroom and tidied that up as well, including a through scrub-down of the bathtub. The same went for the largest and last room--the kitchen/whatever room.

Following this, she strode outside to wash the clothes and sheets. True, she had to wash everything by hand, she didn't have a TV, and she lived alone on the edge of town; however, she did have a good plumbing and heating system, a high-tech cell phone with solar-powered batteries that covered, and she had her horse.

Atesia was grazing then, her black coat still glistening from yesterday's grooming. Mariah kissed the white star on her head in greeting and then proceeded with the laundry. I need to buy a laundry machine...

"Mum, I'm going shopping!" Neti called out as she left the large house.

"Have a nice time, dear!" Tana Iekelazi called.

As Neti checked her elaborately curled hair in the mirror, she directed the chauffeur to the mall. The original Mariah would have never consented to such a fancy hairdo. And the original Mariah knew how to drive.

"She's so much nicer like this," Tana said to her husband. The man nodded, not replying and silently not agreeing. True, the original Mariah could have been less hyper and messy and stubborn, but this new one was in his point of view, a spoiled yet submissive illusion.

Then again, that was what Tana had wanted all along--a normal girl. Normal problems, like not having the perfect thing to wear or not having a date to prom. Or vice versa, having too many. Tana wanted to give someone the best material life possible and when Mariah didn't want all that, she sought another. But he was never very good at arguing with his wife and feigned ambivalence. Whenever his wife demanded a comment other than, "Mhm" or "Sure" or "Whatever you say," he would say, "Yes. Nefertiti is good". At what he didn't dare add.

Neti herself though, knew nothing of her father's opinions. She continued her way, humming sweetly and flirting with the "cute" boys. By late afternoon, she had returned, the 200 some dollars she had set off with replaced by bag-loads of gaudy new clothing.

A few bags in each hand, Neti walked towards the house. With a disgusted shriek, she kicked a stray dog away with a heeled shoe before entering the house, leaving the other bags for the chauffeur to bring in.

((Overkill, I know =.= But I wanted to establish the difference between Mariah and Neti's lifestyles clearly, as well as delve a little into why Mariah's mother would want such a daughter))

"Good morning, sir! How was your morning? Are you heading to the office? May I help you with anything?"

"Thank you, Mr. Cawley. My morning was great. I'm off to the office now, and I won't need any help, thank you. I'll see you later!"

Lewis fought to keep his smile from crooking awkwardly as he walked past his employees in the hallway. He had to keep up appearances, after all! Since the establishment of the company (one year ago), he still couldn't get used to having men and women much older than him addressing him as "sir" or "boss." But he'd already become accustomed to running the Doubles-production business- already his company was considered to be one of the most successful in that industry.

"Mr. Lewis! Thank you so much for letting us create my daughter's Double! Phyllis is much more tolerable now. I feel like all our family problems have been solved."

Lewis smiled wider. "That's what Doubles are for, Mr. Lane. Don't thank me-- it's all I could do to repay you and your wife's work."

If he could fill the world with Doubles, he would- but not because he had a grand scheme to perfect every single being in society- (he was aware that the concept behind using a Double was very flawed)- it was because of the fame and money it would bring. The more he sold, and the more his company grew, Lewis's name would rise in society.

Lewis was one of the few first to create a "perfect" clone- a double of a human. The prodigy son of a prodigal scientist mother, he graduated college early and played a major role in running his mother's research company, which specialized in genetic engineering and cloning. As time went on, his mother became jealous of his talent, which seemed to surpass hers by the day, and constantly gave him a hard time both in the home and at the company. She seemed to decide that harsh words weren't enough to prove her points, and turned to physical harm. Eventually, Lewis left the house- and she let him leave, thinking that he wouldn't be able to progress without the advantage of using her resources. She was sorely mistaken. Lewis opened his own business, and through some old connections he expanded it to be on par with his mother's company, eventually creating a Double of his mother.

That he had considered replacing his mother and actually gone through with it had been widely discussed and criticized by many acquaintances- but it was an irrefutable fact that many of them had also dreamt of a world where flawed people could simply be vanished from society by creating the more agreeable Doubles to act in their places. There were many who believed perfection was the ultimate goal. Uncooperative people were smudges on their clean slates. Those people who commissioned Doubles were the models of society. These beliefs, and more, propelled people to invest in his business, and helped it flourish.

In due time, Lewis would realize that the happiness in his life was but a fragile dream.

Danica was out on the streets with the other members of Slient Dagger, just walking about. Taking recon of Mr.Lewis' company. They planned to destroy it. She was wearing run down sneakers covered in mud, tattered pants, and a muddy "I <3 NY" shirt. She crouched down across the street in a tree watching Mr.Lewis enter the building. She missed her family, and that's why she had to destroy the building. She hated Danella with a firey hot passion. Nothing would stop her from getting rid of her.

Danella was with Danica's mother. "Hello mom!" She said cheerfully.
"Hello darling" Lucy replied.
"I'm going out to study with some friends." Danella replied.
Her mother nodded and she left. She wore a pink spaghetti strap shirt with glittering beads, and a black jean mini skirt, with black high heels. She got into the convertable she had and drove down the street to her friends house.

It was evening by the time Mariah was finished cleaning and hanging the clothes up to dry. After a quick, refreshing shower, she made a peanut-butter bagel for herself and strung a hammock outside so she could eat with Atesia.

"Well," she said to the horse. "Tomorrow I think I'll go to town and splurge my paycheck on food and other necessities. I'm running dangerously low on soap."

Atesia nickered as if she agreed and Mariah nodded, taking another bit of bagel. After swallowing, she added, "And I'll get you a few treats as well.

"Wednesday I'll go to school and get the first month or so of work so I can work on it ahead of time in case there are competitions that month. I don't know of any besides the city ice-skating contest though."

Content that she at least had that much planned out, Mariah leaned back against the hammock, feeling oddly tranquil with her situation.

---

((I'm going to make up that the Doubles occasionally need maintenance check-ups--to monitor the research, as well as ensure customer satisfaction as time and opinions change. Is that ok?))
PostPosted: Fri May 28, 2010 7:31 pm
((I think that's a cool idea.))
Danica pulled out binoculars and watched. "Seems they get on lunch break same time everyday." She told Mick.
Mick nodded and took the binoculars.

Danella looked at the calender at her friends house. Also a clone. "Gr. Homecomings in like a week, and I don't have a date."
"It's ok." Her friend said. "Neither do I."

Lewis stacked the large box of files he was carrying on the floor behind his desk, which was already cramped with several other boxes of the same kind. Sighing from exertion, he dusted his hands and flopped back into his chair. At the same moment, the door swung shut, revealing a pink-haired girl who looked like she'd just come out of a rock concert.

"I'd like to have a word with you, Lewis." Phyllis took a couple of steps forward, appearing unarmed, but still threatening with her diminutive stature. "On the behalf of my group - MARK. You've probably heard of us."

"Oh, I have." Lewis laughed, swiveling his chair idly. "The rebel group that's been attempting to peacefully put down all Double-production, right? Seems like you haven't been very successful. Is breaking into DB Corps and entering my office the best you can do?"

The girl appeared to be gritting her teeth, but after a second, her facial expression melted back to calm blankness. "You'd do well to not let your mouth run too much. MARK is not your only enemy, and not everyone is willing to attempt to resolve things peacefully."
PostPosted: Fri May 28, 2010 8:05 pm
Just as she finished that sentence, Danica entered the room. "Damn. MARK beat us here." She said to Mick behind her.

Danella sat down on her friends bed. "We NEED to find dates."

Phyllis continued: "Judging from your attitude, I don't think you're willing to negotiate at the moment. But I'm warning you: you should stop all Double production, or else our entire society is going to fall apart! You'll regret it."
With that, she turned and left the office.

Lewis said nothing, and watched her leave. Did she come alone? he wondered. I'm surprised she was able to just walk in like that... I should give the security measures a once-over.

((Thanks smile

Lol, I just noticed Danica would be an 8th grader.

Also, we're at different times, right? Because I'm writing Mariah and Neti's posts as August, but it sounds like Danica and Mick is in June (Graduation Prom?)...))

It was time for Neti's monthly check-up at the building. Tana was especially worried about this, because it would be he first time Neti went to school. School was an understatement. Nefertiti was skipping from the cradle--or wherever the doubles were manufactured--to her sophomore year in college.

The chauffeur drove the familiar path to the Double Corporation (DBC) headquarters and Tana and Neti disembarked.

"Mum, where is this?"

"A form of the doctor's office, honey. Don't fret."

Neti obeyed and sat quietly in the waiting room.

The last time Neti had been at the DBC was 3 months ago, when she'd been released to the Iekelazi family. Although Neti had been released in May though, Tana had insisted she stay not attend the last few weeks of school--after all, it was only testing and it wasn't fair to have a newborn taking freshman college exams her second day alive. So May was instead the brief transition period, kicking Mariah out, making sure Neto was comfortable, introducing the new addition to he family, et cetera and et cetera.

((LOL, I also just noticed Phyllis and Mariah both have pink hair. haha))

Danica looked at Lewis when she entered. "Well hello, the person who ruined my life."

Danella laughed at a joke her friend had made, then looked at the clock. "Crap, gotta go. Bye!" She said and left.

"Call me a brat again and I won't hesitate to kill you." Danica said lowly pulling aside the coat she wore to reveal a dagger.

Danella got home and did her chores before she went upstairs to her computer.
