This is Private RP between Mayu [OrionDeltaOmega] & CuiYan [Tooaya]

Setting;;
A teahouse set along one of the many roads of the Artisans Path, near dusk.
PostPosted: Tue May 25, 2010 11:05 pm

Today had been a long day. Not necessarily a bad one, per se, but full of the numerous errands her parents had sent her on. They never seemed to end, yet they got her out of the oppressive atmosphere that seemed to settle on her shoulders the moment she walked into the compound, so she never really complained. Shaking her head, Mayu brought herself back to reality; she had just conducted a rather well-haggled exchange with the local gem trader, in her opinion. Her mother was intending on commissioning some new accessories for a favorite outfit, she was told, and wanted to have the exact gemstones on hand for whenever she could make it to the family clothier or, better yet, whenever Mayu could make it.

Navigating the many pathways that pervaded the Artisan district, Mayu dodged vendors and people alike as final transactions were processed and merchants packed up their stalls and goods under the fading light of the sun. Looking around, Mayu allowed herself to take in the sight as dusk was one of her favorite times of the day. The hues of the painted sky, along with the way the emitting light seemed to warm everything it touched seemed to be one of the most beautiful things any one person could experience, not to mention the way the heat of the day seemed to fade steadily, bringing with it the final warm gusts of wind filled with the scent of flowers and spring. As she pondered the falling of night, Mayu found a part of her yearned to be back at her house, where she could shed her clothes and slid into the waters of the koi pond there, brushing against the fish within, surrounded by the gold-tinged liquid of the setting sun. Sadly, she still wasn’t completely done in town.

Mentally reviewing the list of things she had needed to get, making sure she had everything, Mayu directed her steps to her favorite teashop for some much need herbal rejuvenation and sustenance.

It was rare for CuiYan to have a break time in the middle of the day. Normally, schoolwork would not make him work past morning, but today he had just a little more to do. Being in a group project and unsatisfied with his partners, the young man decided to take on the whole project on his own, which could mean an all-day work. Cui however, knew well that continuous work put more stress on himself than needed to be, which was why he took numerous small rests in between.

Currently, the young man was on his final break, sipping tea in a local teashop, near the balcony. Cui watched absent-mindlessly as people walked by the teashop, not paying attention to anyone particular. To him, everyone looked the same, he was just a little bit above all of them. Seeing the busy streets was no different than seeing an empty street (and, admittedly, he preferred an empty street for its quietness). Clearing his thoughts, the young man took another sip before looking up, only to be confronted with a bright blue spot not far from his face.

The girl was not looking at his way, yet she was awefully close, close enough for Cui to see her face clearly. The young man's half-smiling expression froze, the tea cup hang in midair for a split second before it was slowly and carefully set down on the table, not making any noises as if not wanting to be seen. A rather complex expression then emerged across the young man's face. He knew this girl, not just from a few days ago, but from back when he was only a child.

Not to mention, he did not have the happiest relationship with this girl. Cui frowned as if he had bit his tongue, then, seeing the girl coming closer, he consciously looked away, hoping that she had become blind in the years not spent with him and would fail to see his presence.

This girl, if she recognized him, could give him a whole lot of trouble.

Stepping inside the teashop, all the smells of the different concoctions assaulted her nasal cavities, causing her to feel seemingly rejuvenated just on scent alone. Mmm. There sure was nothing better than herbal teas after a long day of errands, that’s for sure.

Walking over to the counter to place her order, Mayu caught what seemed to be a flash of some greens and reds out of the corner of her eye, but dismissed it moments later. It was probably just some ornamental floral arrangement. No need to investigate. Talking with the petite Lunarian girl at the counter, Mayu set down her payment and walked away to a corner table, her hickory almond black bean tea in hand. Sitting down in the cushioned barstool-like chairs that encompassed the table she had chosen, Mayu brought the cup close to her face, enveloping her senses in its beautiful aroma before she took her first sips from the cup. It was heaven. Exactly what she needed and more, if that was possible. She could feel some of her stress seeping away as the robust flavors of the hot tea rushed through her veins, removing all of her negative energies and replacing them with calm vibes, effectively notching her mood up a sizeable amount.

Even though she was in better moods, an impending feeling of doom was effervescent. Sort of like that feeling you get when you are called to the office with no idea why. Or when you were sent on a huge day of errands, and you feel that you forgot the most important part...something detrimental. Sighing exasperatedly, Mayu dipped her hand into her messenger bag, looking for the list of things that she was told to pick up. It wouldn’t hurt to double check everything, just to be sure. As she flattened the piece of paper out on the table, Mayu glanced up and around the shop, viewing the patrons settled within the shop. Breath catching within her chest, she stared at a familiar figure across the shop and near the balcony.

It couldn't be him.
No.
Not after all these years.
There was just no way.

Air rushing back into her empty lungs, the obsidian-haired Lunarian could feel herself on the verge of a panic attack. Chest heaving and breath short, the anger at seeing CuiYan after all this time flared up, simmering and boiling to a high point. She had no idea what to do or how she was supposed to respond. Had he noticed her? Did he feel the same confusion and upset feelings that she was? Resolution forming past the smörgåsbord of emotions she was feeling, Mayu hiked herself out of her chair and made her way over to the source of this confliction. There was no point in hiding in the corner and waiting to see what he was going to do; she needed to figure out what was up right now.

Judging by the time Cui could tell that the girl had passed by him without noticing. The young man breathed a sigh of relief, holding up his teacup for a sip to celebrate. He must leave now, or else he would be a fool, trying to stay in the same place and waiting for Mayu to notice him. Cui signed, lowering his cast to the tea. It was a shame, he rather enjoyed the atmosphere and the drink. The green-haired Lunarian shuffled in his seat to get up, only to feel a sharp aura that threatened to strike him down. His heart, at that moment, sunk.

The girl, Mayu, the one he had feared in meeting, had finally recognized him, and was sending her rather obvious killer glares this way. Cui didn't need to look back at her to know that she had not forgotten what was done in the past, and that she was angry, perhaps, even angry was not enough to describe her surge of emotion.

Cui winced, and sat back down, eyes remained to the side and still pretending he didn't know she was there. The peace was only temporary, as the other quickly took initiative and approached his seat. In moments she was so close he could feel the raw heat radiating from her body and her extravagant breath. This was not good, he must remain calm. He had always been able to keep his composure, but really, Mayu was the only one he had made upset in his past---well, he had probably made many enemies, but this girl was..just a little bit more upset than the rest.

Well, upset was an understatement. Cui had no doubt Mayu would not hesitant to smash his skull to pieces if they met again. He wasn't planning to meet her again, but there she was. Why was she there in the first place? Did the gods have to ruin his day like this?

Cui took his time at ignoring Mayu's presence, but eventually he had to respond. So after the girl was too close to be NOT noticed, the young man looked back and up, forcing a smile to counter her rage.

"Oh my, isn't this Mayu, long time no see."

What should he do now? Cui wished he had chosen a seat with more open space. He was cornered, the only way out was through the bars of the balcony.

Face set in a determined grimace, Mayu marched her womanly figure straight up to CuiYan. Watching him stand up, as if he made to leave, and then sit back down caused Mayu to smirk. He knew she was there. There was no other reason for his up-down movements. He wouldn't be able to escape this time, even if he had made his way out into the street, she would have followed him. Last they met, he had disappeared in what seemed a verifiable magical act, as if he was never there. Now, in a tea shop of all places, he was reintroduced into her life with as much forewarning as a passing dove depositing his "gift" on the head of an unknowing pedestrian.

Hearing his salutations, as she approached closer and closer, sent her right over the edge. How dare he smile at her as if they were the best of friends, and then greet her in such the same manner.

You green haired, golden eyed swamp turtle. Why the hell are you here. Don't you have some hole in the ground to be burrowed away in? She couldn't do it. She couldn't address him any longer. Opening her mouth to let spill her angry words did not seem to be helping her mood at all, instead firing it up a couple notches. Letting loose an unintelligible scream of angst, Mayu couldn't contain herself any longer, it was just too much. Stepping forward and jumping off the ground with her right leg, she lashed out with it's counterpart, aiming straight for the smug smile on the male's face.

Cui's smile didn't hold for long. Mayu's reply was enough to shoot his small attempt at being friendly toward the female down the drain. How civil. He mentally rolled his eyes. He didn't like the girl, not at all. In fact, he wondered why he even hang out with her when he was young. Mayu had the quick temper that Cui despised, but he knew she had an easily-trusting heart, and it was by that the young man was able to pull her strings so she could dance the way he wanted. In the end though, the effort broke out, and the string snapped, leaving only contempt behind the two Lunarians. Of course it was Cui who had snapped the string, it can't be helped, for he was careless to put himself in a desperate situation. Now, the girl just had to reappear, and had to remind himself of that failure which lead to the same desperate situation today.

Only today, he had no help, no puppet to pull strings with.

Mayu's advance didn't leave Cui much reaction time. Seeing her foot coming his way and threatening to kick a hole in his face marked the severity of the situation. Without second thought the young man raised his arm to defend himself, but only to realize that the teacup was still held in his hand. The realization came a split second late as Mayu's kick successfully landed on the teacup, making a dull sound in the air as the small container was shot out of Cui's grasp.

"Oh gre---"

The civil curse did not catch up with the situation. That moment, the young man was hit by a spell that slowed down his time. Everything played in slow motion, but he was powerless to struggle out of the disaster that was bound to happen. The tea, still plenty in the cup, flew out of the container and came splashing down on the young man. His eyes were wide open, but they failed to register what just happened. When Cui's mind did catch up with the situation there he was, standing, with his chair knocked down behind him, and his shoulder soaked in tea. Cui stared blankly in space, breathing heavily, then allowed his golden eyes travel up to the culprit. On one hand, he was glad that kick failed to break his nose, but his current situation was no better...

"Hah...after all these years I see you have not changed, barbaric as ever." He was too shocked to smile, but the sarcastic words flowed out of his mouth calmly as if Cui still had the upper-hand.

"Do you not think foolish of yourself for displaying such rude manners in a public place like this? You must be REALLY HAPPY to see me."

How had she ever held feelings for this man? Countless hours of swooning as a young girl, and hanging out in amiable situations, held no reason as she stared at the man that had played her like a fiddle and left her heartbroken, confused, and in a lot of trouble. Nevertheless, ashamed that her temper had broken in such an unseemly manner, Mayu was still content to see the damage her actions had caused. They might not have been exactly what she was looking for, but a sizeable tea stain and a possible hurt forearm was good with her.

Humphing at Cui's words, Mayu fixed him with a stare that seemed as if it might bore holes into the man's soul, possibly revealing his intentions for everything in the past and the meaning of his words and emotions in the present. Alas this was not true, but it was an interesting concept to consider.

Shut up Cui. As if you know anything about me. A lot has changed. More then you could even imagine. I'm not that little girl who held stupid ideas of love and friendship, who can be controlled by a smile and a few well-placed words, anymore. I know exactly who you are and how you operate. You might have an excellent vocabulary, filled to the brim with pleasantries and civil mannerisms, but don't think for one second I'm fooled. Not anymore. Flipping her hair out of her face, as it had fallen haphazardly in her kick of passion, Mayu took a stance that could only be described as purely sexual and haughty, with a popped out hip and propped hand, the other one hanging free. She sure wasn't trying to seduce this pompous player, but she sure wasn't going to leave out any assets she could use in this conversation. He needed to know she wasn't that immature little girl anymore, she had grown up and she sure wasn't to be messed with. So why are you even here? You ran away like a little coward when we were younger, and I heard you moved away. I expected to never see you ever again and was content with that. So why return now.

Time had finally started to return to its regular pace. Cui found him smiling again, this time not a pretended smile, but a real one. Of course, it wasn't one of happiness, for the situation looked nothing but frustrating to the young noble. Nonetheless, Cui was confident that the female in front of him was equally frustrated, perhaps even more so than himself.

He could make good use of Miyu's anger.

The smile was truthful, it was a victorious smile, with Cui bearing malicious thought and, after analyzing the situation, it appeared that the young man had already won. Slowly Cui lifted the handkerchief that was thankfully still dry off of the table and dabbed it against his drenched robe. The young man took his time while doing so, while the girl was tossing her anger fit at him. Miyu's great effort in showing that she had grown did not escape Cui's eyes, though he purposefully chose to ignore it. She claimed that she had changed, but she was wrong. Her nature certainly stayed the same compared to back when she was young, the same temper, the same disgusting sense of righteousness, the same...straight-forward mind.

Cui paused in what he was doing when Miyu posed a question for him. He finally lifted his gaze to look at the female, his smile not fading in the slightest.

"My family decided to move back, that's all." Cui replied simply and in a sweet, innocent tone. "And about what happened before, I must thank you for defending me. Without you, Miyu, I wouldn't know what would happen...it would have been horrible."

After everything, the kick, the broken tea cup, the angry rant that had patrons of the teahouse turning in their seats, Cui continued to have a smile upon his face. Of all the pretentious, self-absorbed males she met, this one took the cake. He held no remorse for what he had done, and probably never will.

Her earlier words had rang true though; once upon a time she did have feelings for this green-haired Lunarian, misguided and immature they may be. A part of her would probably continue to care for him for the rest of her life, but that did not mean that she enjoyed it, or want for his presence.

Nevertheless, his answer to her question was short, something that threw Mayu off balance mentally as she stood before him. She hadn't been expecting something as long winded as her anger had led her to give, but she had at least thought the answer would make more sense, have a better reason behind it then, "My family decided to move back". Talk about an anti-climatic moment. She didn't have much time to think up an answer though as his following statement flew in for the kill,

"I must thank you for defending me. Without you, Mayu, I wouldn't know what would happen...it would have been horrible"........"I must thank you for defending me"......"Without you"....."horrible".........."defending me"......

The statements swirled around her brain, buzzing in her ears like a swarm of bees. He was thanking her with a smile on his face and a tone that dripped with so much sugary sweetness she could have gotten a mouthful of cavities. Knocked senseless she didn't even hear what she responded with, just that her mouth moved and she could feel her vocal cords vibrate a response, one she felt was dripping in it's own sickly sweet juice of sarcasm. Defend you? Yeah...okay, Cui. That's exactly what I did. There was never a crying child involved in that day, that had never done anything to you other then refuse to play with you, or share his sweets, or something of the sort. You never made up lies about others to make you feel better about yourself at all. I bet you'll tell everyone in here that this was a martial arts targeting practice, or something of the sort, after I'm gone, won't you?

Cui's mouth curved up deeper. His words had reached Mayu, and had a profound effect on the girl. He was an adequate player, and Mayu was no match for him, despite how much she claimed to have changed or have improved. Setting the handkerchief down gently, and did not look up for a while. His voice remained soft, perfectly feigning sincerity.

"Of course, I understand what you have been through. It was unfortunate that things had to happen that way. But surely. " Finally looking up, he stared into Mayu's eyes with bold curiosity, "Like you said, you have changed. I take it you are mature enough of a lady now loose your grip on the bitter past and look into the bright future?" Cui gestured by opening his arms. If anyone was paying attention to them, it looked as if the young man was about to embrace the female. However, he made no further moves, and simply let the arms drop.

And that was the end to Cui's kind words. He was still smiling, but the immediate words came out betraying his kind demeanor. The words were not loud, as they are not meant to be heard by public ears. He inched toward Mayu closer so that his voice only reached her.

"However you have grown is none of my business. But I hope, and this is just my humble wish, that your pretty little head has grown smarter. I have no intention of covering up whatever happened just now, if that's what you want to happen, then start behaving more like an educated lady."
PostPosted: Sat Oct 16, 2010 12:55 am

Rearing back from the man Mayu's eyes slitted as she listened to the man, watching as the shoddy facade he had been showing to the audience fell away, revealing exactly what she knew lurked beneath; a repulsive, underhanded, and diabolical creature who's words meant nothing more then last week's news.

Cui, I don't give a rat's tail what you do and I sure don't regret walking over here. The only thing I do regret is not having my foot connect with your face. Color returning to her face, as the earlier angry splotches of red began to fade from her face, Mayu met the cruel eyes of her long lost love. And don't worry about me behaving like an 'educated' lady. I'm on my way to joining the Noble Retainers, and if you're still following down the path you used to, you will be too. We'll see whose educated then, and have no doubt, I'm not fooled by anything you say or do. And I'll make sure that no one else is either.

Turning forcefully, hair flying, Mayu walked back to her table, gathering up her supplies. Working on controlling her emotions, trying to keep from breaking into tears and running out shamefully, she turned around with her bag slung over her shoulders and arms full, wondering if Cui had followed her, left, or stayed in the same spot.
