Roller derbies are awesome! I've been to one once... entertaining, even though I didn't really know the rules of the game... biggrin Well, I have to admit it was a little awkward what with the very happy gay couple in front of us... not that I have anything against gays... cool

Well, yeah it is. I actually joined up for it... My family is a bit worried I'm going to kill myself. XP
Training doesn't start until July, so at least that gives me time to buy roller skates and get used to them. (I'm someone who usually wears in-lines.)
I myself only vaguely know the rules, I guess I will have to study up.
And I don't think you would have anything against gay people. It's more of the fact that watching people be all "lovey-dovey" together can be a bit awkward. Especially if they are making out or something. I sometimes get embarrass watching couples of any gender display public affection. Mostly because I'm a more "private affection is private" kind of person.

Haha. I agree. I always remember in 7th grade, my stupid P.E. teacher saw me linking arms with my friend (a girl), which girls my age then did all the time. He said, "Hey, no PDA!" It was ridiculous. But yes, PDA is kinda gross. I mean, the only reason people show it in public like that is because they really want other people to know that they are together. Bleh.
What are some embarrassing moments put on you by teachers? (Or other random adults)?
And, anyway, the whole Roller Derby thing sounds fun! Like your family hopes, just don't.... die. xd You know, fall down, break your neck... get trampled and what not.

Well, I happen to be a HUGE clutz. Although I am rather graceful on my blades. However, as I said before - I'm still getting used to the roller skates. So I might just hurt myself. XD
I actually had something similar happen to me. In grade six our entire grade went on a class trip to some camp. So, I was holding hands with my female best friend and the counsellor saw us and decide to announce it to the ENTIRE grade. Was totally embarrassing. XP It wasn't even anything like a "couple thing". You know how when we were young kids we held hands with everyone? That was how we were - and that counsellor totally blew it out of proportion. I think both her and I were traumatized from the ridicule. confused
I guess that would count as an embarrassing thing that happened with a "teacher".
I probably have more horror stories... I'm just too tired to think of more. *shrugs*

Roller Derby-ing sounds cool. I'm not a very good skater myself, I tend to crash into walls and such.
sweatdrop PDA's not a huge prosecution at my school. At the most, the teacher will shout out the door, "Hey, PDA!" And they'll get a glare.

So...what do you guys think about age differences in a relationship? Where do you think the line should be drawn? Does the term "Love conquers all" ring true?

My grandparents are an eleven year difference and they've been married for fifty years now. And yes, I do know that the time period was much more lenient... But I'm still okay with it.
The one thing that I do have a problem with is concerning the sex. I had a friend who was sixteen and her boyfriend was eight years older than her. And they didn't wait until she was eighteen to go all the way, and it totally screwed up their lives because of it. If the two people love each other, they can wait until they are both adults. That's all I'm saying.
So, yeah. Age difference doesn't bother me at all, as long as they wait until they won't get into trouble to get too physical.

It is not so much a question of age, but a question of maturity.
A child (say, a sixteen-year-old for the purposes of the laws of sexual consent--and before we get into that: yes you are still a child when you are sixteen) has not developed a fully rational mind. A popular stereotype is that young girls are susceptible to unrealistic expectations, especially in relationships, which often lead to horrible conclusions.
I'm not saying that once you hit 18 or 21 you magically develop the rationalization skills needed in order to pursue a successful relationship--but part of the reason why most adults stay together longer than teenagers or teenagers with adults (assuming they are compatible partners in the first place) is because they have grown out of expecting the same flights of fancy that they had in their youths because they have had more personal experiences. That isn't to say that adults don't believe in true love or soul mates or the perfect romance, it is that, hopefully, they have come to realize that it isn't as likely as televisions and novels might make it seem.
Of course, you can't reach this point without first experiencing it yourself, thus the personal experiences. That being said, I don't think it is unacceptable for a younger person to develop feelings for an older person or vice-versa. As long as they are mutually consenting partners of a reasonable age, and that they are both sexually mature and mentally mature. This does not condone ***** and maturity are correlated, but not necessarily the same for individuals. There are some sixteen-year-olds out there that have developed a rational mind before their eighteen-year-old peers. And there are some sixteen-year-olds out there who populate their love life expectations with chivalrous men or perfect women, and will continue to do so for the rest of their lives, only to be met with perpetual disappointment.
Of course, teenagers will be teenagers, and irresponsible adults will be irresponsible. People usually do not realize how intimate a connection sex actually is, because of how it is made light of in our current society, and I believe this has led to the slackening of rational-thinking minds in relationships, especially those where one partner is older than the other.

Uhm, interesting points from both of you. I'm just gonna make my input short and sweet.
Now, what I think about age differences in a relationship... hm. Well, if you're quite young (teens to upper twenties), a large age difference tends to take a toll. If the two partners are older (30+), it's not such a big deal. I don't really know why, but that seems to be the way it works out in life.

Me and my boyfriend have a 6 year gap, me being 16 and him 22, which is why I was a little curious.

Oh, I understand that age and maturity are two different things. I'm just saying that those who are under the age of eighteen, legal age where I am, should wait. The age of consent was actually fourteen at one point in my life-time, but the consequences of under age sex can just be so huge that really, if you love one another, you can wait. That's of course I'm talking about two rational people who understand the fact that even if the younger is at the age of consent, doesn't mean that the older can't still be charged for Statutory Rape. Trust me, I know from experience.
I just think that if someone wants to be in a relationship with an older individual, they need to wait until they are legal age to have sex. Better safe than sorry.
And Sparrow, I don't think your opinion is necessarily true. Back to the couple I spoke about before, as of what I know... The younger of the two is living a happy, healthy, and normal life - free without consequences. While the older one, was charged with statutory rape, lost his job, actually went to prison for a time, and well, basically his life was screwed over. And from what I talked to him, he still loves her and still wants to be with her. The younger one has moved on and he hasn't. It's actually really sad. So, no, I think it really depends on who is in the relationship, because the one who comes out unscathed is the stronger of the two. Age and gender have nothing to do with that.
@Tenro: You be careful now. (Not saying that he's not a gentleman, but I'm just saying that when you're in a relationship where one of you is under age, it's best to be cautious over some things that seem like a given when both are of closer age.)
And to answer your next question...
I choose Zombie. XD
