The smell of water hung ripe in the dry air as the waterhole neared. Niyol took a breath, filling his lungs with the welcome scent. Damn. He would never get tired of it, the smell of fresh water after a long day aimless trekking. It was the reason he had always wanted to go to the sea. Ah, the Sea. It was more a legend to him than anything, and in truth, he had little idea as to whether or not it was anything like the vast, unending waterhole he had imagined, but he had to see it. He had to.

Ambling down to the water, he paused to stare at the surface for a moment, watching the gentle ripples disturb the otherwise perfect reflections of the sky, the clouds, and his own face. "Hey there, good-looking," he chuckled, shaking his head, before leaning forward to lap at the cool water.

Ah, this was the life. No worries - other than the usual food, water, shelter, safety - and no responsibilities, free to do what he wanted and travel where he would. He could live his life out just the way it was right now, enjoying the world for all it had to offer him. And he had every intention of doing exactly that.

Displeased with the lack of finding Jeraha he had accomplished in the past few weeks, Angusho was by no means in a good mood. All he wanted to do was sink his claws into some helpless victim to help him feel a bit better about his skills, at least. Maybe he wasn’t the best tracker in the world, but at least he knew he was a damn good fighter. Recent loses be damned. For the most part, he had won things fairly proficiently. So what if a couple battles went the other way?

He was still a bad a**.

A bad a** who was getting a little bit thirsty. Luckily, the scent of water was not as hidden as the scent of his son, the male following his nose to a waterhole. Much to his chagrin, there was already someone throwing their spit into the liquid, the lion instantly marked as an enemy simply because he had been thirsty at the same time as the aging beast. How dare he need water to survive.

This was perfect. He had not only a new target, but motive to attack. Which he decided not to waste time on initiating. Too many of his battles had been started with idle banter. When they all met the same end, did it really matter that they speak before hand? No, not to Angusho. The male roared and charged forward, leaping to attack the male. Tackle him.

Take that, random lion that had been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"What the f-" The sound of a roar had erupted seemingly out of nowhere and sent the brown lion spinning around to locate its origins. Niyol's dark eyes widened in surprise as the sight of a black lion hurtling towards him greeted them. What. In. The. World.

He barely had time to unsheath his claws before the dark lion was upon him, and the next moment, he found himself being knocked of his paws. He landed with a splash in the waterhole's shallows, now half wet, sore, and irritated beyond words. "What was that for?" He snarled as he leapt back onto his paws, apparently none the worse for wear. But being young did that for you. The achey muscles and bruises didn't cry for as much attention. He would feel them the next day, perhaps, but at the moment, he could only see rage and more rage.

Without waiting for an answer, the young lion launched himself at the older lion, claws swiping for - something, anything - and teeth all too ready to sink into - well, anything as well.

Now that was fun. He splashed into the water, watching the other fall over sideways as he kept himself back after the tackle had proved successful. As much as he would have liked to keep after him, attacking again, he didn’t want to do too much at once and risk leaving an opening for a sloppy counter attack.

His eagerness to vent could not over-cloud his judgment as a fighter.

A good thing, too, as this lion bounced back from the attack very quickly. Angusho was still seeing a couple small stars from the heavy hit and he had been the one executing it. Ah, to be young. That didn’t, however, mean that he felt himself at some kind of a disadvantage- just because he had more experience didn’t mean he could no longer add to his win count. In fact, he was determined to make sure he could still whoop his son in a fight when the time came. This lion seemed younger than Jeraha would be by now, but not by much.

A perfect target, all things considered. “No talking, child!” he roared, pulling back to and springing off to the side to avoid the attack, “this is a fight, not a conversation!” he charged forward again, swiping his large paw and the boy’s side, his claws out stretched and ready to meet fur and flesh.
