This pickled vegetable...So, years and years ago when I was a kid I saw this animated movie about anthropomorphic mice in either Industrial Revolution New York or Industrial Revolution London and there was something to do with a factory, cheese and an illness.
What I remember clearly:
The main character standing on top of a grate. Under the great were a number of mice that appeared to either have leprosy or be melting and they were covered in this blue goo which was supposed to be some sort of cheese. They reached their hands up through the great at the main character, I forget for what reason.
What I'm not so sure about:
I think that the mice trapped under the grate were workers in a cheese factory and the cheese was what was causing their leprosy/melting condition.

The art and animation style was similar to that of the MGM cartoons such as Secret of NIMH and American Tale but it wasn't one of theme. ... could kick your a** !!

This pickled vegetable...No.
That was about a canister of airborn poison being released in a meadow and a bunch of woodland creatures having to travel to another meadow to get a plant to cure their friend of poison. There were no factories, leprosy or blue cheese/goo involved.

Renkon Root This pickled vegetable...... could kick your a** !! I'd totally forgotten about that cartoon. I never understood why they tried to make it "kid friendly". Maybe people would know the anime I'm looking for, then...

I thought it was called The Judge, but apparently I am mistaken. It's about this dude who runs around as a "Judge of Darkness" and judges people for their dark deeds. He is accompanied by a cockatoo who is some sort of embodiment of the Judges in the Underworld. Eventually, the judge has to go after some corporate boss who happens to be the judge's boss (at least in his alter ego form). It's cheesy as all you-know-what, but I love it.
