With a cunning swiftness, Gwend had weaseled his way away from his trainer, scampering along the narrow sidewalk down a respectful neighborhood. Many people owned pokemon here, as pets or as slow-paced trainers. This was the neighborhood Kacen's mother lived in, and the neighborhood they'd stopped at for the past few days. It was nice, but Gwend felt confined. Too many walls, too many humans. He'd been a rental before, but he preferred just his trainer now.
The green grass was softer under his paws as the sidewalk finally ended, bringing him to a small field-like park at the end of the community. He stuck his nose to the ground, sifting through the different scents. Some old, some new. None of them Kacen, yet. His large teeth chattered and he cheered. It was his favorite game, and one that lasted a while. Kacen wasn't very good at surprise hide and seek.
He flopped into the long, sweet smelling grasses and sighed. Rest wouldn't be any harm. Kacen probably hadn't realized he was gone yet. In fact, Gwend knew he could probably explore for a little while and get to know the area a little better before Kacen even left the house. Perhaps find some berries and just relax on his own, like when he was young and wild.

What a slow day it had been for Draco. With the antics of his trainer, he had been tied up in her mess for the whole time. Now she was asleep, in the oddest of places, outside of a friends house. He didn't feel that sticking around was a necessity, so he was quick to make his escape to a nearby field. Now, yes he knew that he slithered like a snake, but a lot of people and pokemon where afraid of this 13 foot long snake and that suited him just fine. Milo was pretty much the only one he could recall that was impervious to his icy glare, not that he meant to glare at people all the time. He made good time taking the back ally ways and short cuts Milo had taught him through their many trips through here. Soon he could smell the sweet fresh smell of grass. He longed to be out of that neighborhood, to feel a cooling breeze caring the pleasant aroma of the grass he liked to sun himself in.
With a quick flick of his tail Draco was off, drifting silently through the grass. He kept low to the ground feeling more "one with the earth" as his trainer liked to say. Being out of there just made him feel a lot better. Not so many pairs of eyes watching. He slithered ever so carefully to a small clearing, small for him that is. He wound himself up into a little pile, basking in the soft grass, just relaxing. This is what he loved about the open plains.

Gwend paused, mid-roll, and flicked at ear. His sensitive belly was open to the sky and his paws twitched a little. Something seemed... wrong. Out of place. Perhaps it just felt creepy. He couldn't see anyone, but there was someone else around.
With a panic-y twist he swiveled to his feet and looked around. Trainers played with their young pokemon on the other side of the field, and an older gentleman was intent on his newspaper, but there was no one watching him. So why did he feel like there was?
He cautiously took a step forward, cocking his head to the side. The grass moved, he could hear it, but he couldn't pin-point where. Maybe had the grass been a little less long and luxurious, more kept, but it was thick and obstructive. He'd have to wait to face the threat close range.

Draco basked in the sun, loving that no one had noticed his approach. He heard the usual sounds of the park, more of them being further away. But he heard a rusling in the grass. At first he shrugged it off as nothing, but when it continued he took notice.
The rustling wasn't too apparent, like someone was trying to sneak up on him. He tilted his head in the direction of the sound before deciding it was best to see what was making this noise. With little effort he peered into the grass, noticing a small Rattata looking around suspiciously. He kept his eyes keen on the mouse to see his next move.

Gwend pushed through the grasses carefully, and came face to face, or eye to eye, with a pair of silver-white orbs. A sudden chill shook his spine and he squeaked in something less graceful than shock. Fear, perhaps. He recognized the shape of the body behind those eyes. Or so he thought he did.
He gave another, softer squeak. "Snake.." he accused in a terrified whisper. If he didn't move soon, he'd be glued to the spot. He already felt his knees starting to wobble, locking up.
He scrambled for purchase, but the soft grass slipped under his paws for a heart shattering moment before he was able to finally move.
