A larger shadow loomed over the lab. It was eerily calm as if waiting to be disturbed.

“Char…”

A low and threatening growl emitted from the pokemon that sighed in increasing anger at his situation. He was hooked up to a variety of machines being monitored for scientific study. Team Rocket was hoping to have luck with their new rapid evolution method; akin to attempt on the Red Gyradose of The Lake of Rage. Hopefully, this would put an end to the aggression and recklessness shown by the pokemon used as subjects.

There seemed to be no such luck in this case. The monitors showed increased heart rate and brain activity in the Charizard. Up until today he had showed no signs of aggression, so it was very unexpected of him to break into a fit.

A loud roar startled everyone in the vicinity of the Charizard. It broke free of it’s devices, smashing them into a mess of scrap metal before turning his attention to the scientist around him. He was, not even a full 48 hours ago, an unsuspecting Charmander. Now he had evolved at an abnormal rate into a raging inferno of hatred. His tail blazed brightly in exasperated anger, sending a purple glow around the room.

Mau had his back turned, watching one of the monitors. He looked down at his notes. The rate of growth didn't seem to be affecting his move set too much. He was learning his moves at an increased rate too. Interesting.

He looked down to his notes when the alarms began going off. The notebook slipped from his hands as people began running. He stood there, staring at the charizard as it thrashed at the machines. He saw a fluffy white headed scientist fall. Instinctively, Mau grabbed for his pokeball.

Nyx let out a yelp as she was lifted into the air. As she dangled there she noticed that her back felt wet. Well... some deep scratches were the least of her troubles. She was about to be roasted and eaten at the same time.

One of the pokeballs on Nyx's belt shook violently and with a quick flailing motion, she managed to press the release.
Very suddenly, a tiny white squirtle was shooting bubble after bubble at the rampaging Charizard.

The Charizard was hit with a double dose of water attacks. He brushed off the first attack that sent a shower of bubbles toward him. The Charizard was enraged even further by the Watergun attack sent from behind. He let out a a bone chilling growl before spreading his wings and taking to the air, Nyx still in the grip of his claws.

Meanwhile, riding up and down the elevator was a nervous Cal. She fretted with her purple t-shirt. She held a box of poffins in one hand and a bag with two sandwiches in the other. "It's just a friendly lunch visit Cal. Pull yourself together." She wasn't the one to worry, but she was making a bold move to show up and bring Mau lunch and ask him if he would like to train. But she was keeping up her end of their deal, which she didn't mind doing.

When she got out of the elevator, all seemed peaceful. She didn't really have any idea of where Mau might be, so she decided that it was best to start looking. A few doors into her search, she heard a commotion from down the hall. The scientist were all fleeing from the room in a mad panic. She scoffed to herself, "Something must've gone wrong." She mumbled and was about to continue on her way when she heard a familiar voice. It figured that Mau would be in the middle of this. Just her luck. She made her way over to the entrance cautiously, peeking around the corner seeing a Charizard fly up into the air with someone.

Cal had to do something. She reached for her pokeball absentmindedly, the only pokemon on her was Skye-just because she couldn't leave him alone. Skye came out of his pokeball, sparks flying already, yet he tumbled flat on his face. "Skye get serious! We need to do something!" The two ran up to Mau ready to help out.

Mau snatched a second pokeball from his coat. "RAN!" He flung the ball into the air after the Charizard. The pidgeotto springing from the red glow and flying at the Charizard. "Ran! Try to stop it with a quick attack!"

"OTTO!" The bird flew after the Charizard, diving at it to try to prevent it from flying too far away with the scientist.

When Cal ran into the room, He didn't give her a second glance until she said something about Skye. How bad would the damage be if Skye got zap-happy in here? There was water all over the floor, though that was Mau's fault. Everything could short out with the pikachu-

Wait.

"AKI! Use your Watergun again!" Saying that, he picked up Skye. "Whatever Electric attack you have, aim it at the watergun!" He said to Cal and Skye.

Oh how he hoped his lab gloves were rubber and not latex.

Woah! What was going on? Nyx fell on something person-like, and then it started talking to her.

"Wha... Uhh... I'm ow. Ow. OW!" Nyx stood up and hissed as she started to notice the deep gashes in her back. "I'll... Go get help." The scientist hurried as fast as she can, limping down the hall and away from that beast.

Now that her trainer was out of danger, Beaker left the battle and waddled after Nyx, who knew what sort of trouble she'd find herself in on her way for help!

Cal watched as the scientist ran from the room. I guess she's ok... At least she wouldn't have to worry about her. Maybe the wounds on her back weren't that serious. She stood up and brushed hearself off, checking to see that she wasn't hurt as well.

"ZARD!!!" The Charizard batted at the Pidgeotto angrily. His tail wavering slightly. He knocked over a desk with one flip, sending it to the ground with a hard crack. He made his way to Mau fast and with another loud roar, he picked Mau up and tossed him aside like he was nothing more that a mere ball of trash.

Cal hadn't expected the Charizard to get to Mau so quickly. She uttered a small squeak when Mau was thrown from where he stood. She started after him, but the Charizard fixed his searing gaze on her. He was going to attck her like he had attack Mau and the other scientist. Cal needed to move, but her legs wouldn't move.

By now, he was right in front of her. He picked her up, like he had done to the others, but hesitated. He sniffed her and gritted his teeth a bit as she winced and turned her head to the side. He couldn't bring himself to exert his anger on her for some reason. He held her up higher in another attempt to throw her, but instead he gently set her down. His tail flickered again while he clenched his fist. He didn't know why he didn't do anything to her. He let out a solemn sigh with smoke coming from nostrils.

Cal cowered in fear when picked up and still when she was sat down. She fell to her knees out of shock.

Skye, noticing what was going on, launched himself at the Charizard with a Thunder Wave, but when she was picked up, he lost concentrating and missed, going over to Cal's side to make sure she was ok.

The sound of screaming when she stepped out of the elevator signaled something was up. Nadja had been traveling at a swift walk - not a run, you never ran in a lab - toward the commotion; it took a minimal adjustment to her pace to catch Nyx under the arms as she fell, brows lifting at the sight of her back.

The woman pulled the fluffy-haired grunt to the side of the hall and lowered her to the floor, then rose. Her pace quickened, expression set, and her fingertips left pink streaks on the Pokeball she selected from her belt as she spoke into her Pokedex.

"Medical, this is Volkov from Cloning. We have a casualty on 5B in the main hallway."

She clicked the release catch, loosing a furry form into the hallway. "Moloch, guard." The large dog sniffed curiously at Nyx, then whuffed and took up an alert stance directly over the grunt, watching his trainer walk away.

Those in the lab would hear the tapping of heels before the elite rounded the doorway, expression set and gloves stained with blood.
