take ur time. take it slow. sazh hope and lighting.
sen *sen *med cast all buffs and keep healing with lighning
once applied well these are pretty much the paradims u need
med-sen-sen rav-rav-rav (to stagger him) com-com-rav ( when he is staggered if u need healing switch to next one) med-com-com com -com-com
these are the ones we (me and my hubby although he will take most of the credit because i got fustrated with it. Had to go to work the next day and when i got home that was my surprise) used to beat him. it took me awhile and i didnt get much of a star rank out of it.
make sure u KEEP BUFFS ON.
During his destructo mode unless u need healing keep attacking it makes his attack a little weaker. and if u can stagger him durring destructo he restarts it over. like a reboot

I'm assuming you are referring to the first fight with Barthandelus. If so yes I had some trouble with this one, but went with a similar rout LiuXian did. But this was my party.
Fang (Leader), Lightning, Hope
I would start off the party with SEN, MED, SYN- this allowed Hope to buff your party with Protect, Shell, Haste, and whatever other boosts you could put on. Fang did a great job holding hate while Lightning played Medic and kept the party alive while Hope did the healing.
Once my buffs were up I went with COM, RAV, MED- had Fang and Lightning take out the 4 faces as quickly as possible so that all you had left was Barthandelus himself. Usually Hope did a great job keeping everyone alive while I did this, if my characters at any point got too weak I switch to my healing paradim of SEN, MED, MED- this was the default paradim I went to after the destructo beam. It allowed for very very quick healing and allowed you to get back on your feet quickly.
After you Stagger Barthandelus I switch to my DD of COM, COM, RAV- and only used that when he was staggered, otherwise I played conservatively and went with COM, RAV, MED through most of the fight.
That pretty much how I did it. It took me a couple of tries, and I was completely maxed on my CP as well, but I did defeat him after 2 or 3 tries.
Hope this was helpful.
