Drifting along through the grass, Yu's bright eyes seemed a bit far off. He had been thinking about an encounter with a female recently, one he had been following around ever since. There was something in her air that just drew him to her, and now she was acting strange, and he wanted to see it through. Part of him really did want this chance to prove that he'd matured, not just run around like a little boy to have fun.
Today, though, he'd decided to go hunt. Provide a little food for her, to try and make her feel better. A full stomach always did wonders with him as a cub, so he hoped that it'd do the same for her, even though she was looking a little pudgey lately. But the round belly didn't ruin her gorgeous coat, and that's probably the one thing Yu really cared about. And her personality was pretty fun, too.
Flicking his green eyes around, Yu crouched as low to the ground as he could, picking up movement not too far off. Hiding his bright colors would be a hard thing to do, but he'd managed before, so he knew he could probably do it again. And this time, he was actually trying.
Slowly, he crawled along, tail down and eyes wide. The closer he got to the movement, the larger the source of it sounded. Gathering up his nerves, he peeked through the grass. seeing nothing but a large fluffy ball of white.

Dysi had snuck away from the pride, leaving his cubs with Nyoka and the other pride members, meaning he could have a day for his own use. He loved to walk, but being a family man now, or as close to one as he could be in his situation, Dysi had lost a lot of time for walking and travelling. Somedays, he just wanted to walk, though he was getting out of shape, he groaned to himself.
His legs were aching, and he had only been wlaking for a few hours. He could have walked for one week straight when he was younger, he whined, and flopped onto a nice rock which was warmed by the bright sun. His light coloured fur stood out in the savanna but since he had little interest in hiding, he didn't care to try and find a place to be hidden away from the world.
He decided to rest, for a little while only, as he curled up on the rock, stiffling a yawn. A small purr worked out of his throat as he basked in the sunshine. He was getting old, he muttered inwardly, shifting his body to try and find a comfortable spot.

Clawing at the ground, Yu looked downward, staring at his paws for a few moments. His chest sunk, realizing now that whatever was a few yards ahead of him wasn’t food, and couldn’t be turned into food. Sighing, he flicked his tail to the side, regretting the movement after-the-fact, thinking now that he may have just given his position away to some hungry or violent predator that’d be more than happy to turn this bright and fragile cheetah into lunch.
Returning his gaze towards the movement, Yu decided to stand, giving up on his stealth, even if it was poor to begin with. As he stood, he could see his normal world return to him, with giant soaring flowers flapping their petals above him, waving down to the bright cheetah. He smiled, looking across the lavender sea of swaying grass. Having found his confidence again, he started off towards the creature, thinking that if he were to be chased, he’d have a better chance if he was already upright rather than down, huddled in the dirt.

Dysi's tail twitched from where it was curled around his sleeping form, content to doze away the sunshine though he knew he would have to get up and go back to the pride eventually, or he would not be allowed in the den for a week or more, depending on how much trouble the girls had given Nyoka. He yawned, stretching lesuirely, but he paused as one of his ears twitched.
He could hear...someone approaching? He hadn't smelt them coming at all, he thought, raising his head and glancing towards the noise. Thankfully, it did not seem to be a threat. Dysi was used to cheetahs. He was mated to one, after all, and lived around several, so he was not worried to spy the slender figure coming towards him. He perked up.
“Hello there,” he called out, his voice raised slightly so that the other male could hear him. What a vibrant pelt, he thought, momentarily distracted by the colours.

Yu’s ears lightly flicked back, then quickly returned to their upright position. His eyes were half-closed as he pranced in his dreamland, taking in deep breaths with every step. As he heard the other’s words, he straightened up a bit, trying to act as ‘normal’ as he could while still maintaining his little fantasy world. “Why, hello.” Titling his head to the side, he dipped his nose lightly, a smile on his face. He was briefly distracted by an orange pixie buzzing around the leopard’s head, his green eyes tracing it as it soared away.
Eyes returning to the leopard, Yu couldn’t help but thinking how dull the color white could be, unless, luckily for the leopard, it was dressed up with some other, more wonderful colors. The male had a certain glow about him, and Yu couldn’t help but come in closer. The spots on his should started to dance, soon fluttering around the leopard’s body like little butterflies. “Ooooh, how you’re pelt gives me shivers.” He smirked, ruffling around his body to exaggerate his point. His eyes looked a little demonic, but it was all in good fun for the cheetah.

Dysi's face pulled into a light frown at the male's comments, a little confused by them and he tilted his head to the side. The other male was a little odd, he decided, looking amused at his comment about his pelt. Glancing down at his fur, he saw nothing but white with the ocassional pink or blue which broke up the rather dull pattern.
“Is that a good thing?” He asked, chuckling lightly. He stretched, and rolled so he was facing the other male full-on instead of slightly turned as he had been before. Dysi sat up on his rock, claws scratching the surface as he stretched. “Your coat is quite stunning,” he said, to return what he assumed was a compliment. Was someone's coat giving you shivers a good or bad thing? H ewondered. The other male's coat really was eyecatching and Dysi could honestly say he had never seen anything quite like it before. Not on a cheetah at least.

“It’s an amazing thing.” He smiled, a new rainbow washing over the colors of his world, altering everything. His tail wrapped around his back leg, lightly squeezing it as he spoke. “Why thank you. I take great pride in my coat.” He twirled, watching his blue fur glisten in the sunlight. In his world, he glowed, as if planted here by a foreign race from far in the sky.
“Why are you out here laying on that?” Yu motioned towards the rock, that looked more like a giant pink tortoise to him. Not that he would say that aloud, of course, as Yu knew all too well what kind of reaction he’d get. It was a miracle that the female cheetah hadn’t turned and run when she had the chance. But she was more intrigued than frightened by his odd antics.

Dysi smiled back at the happy cheetah. He was an interesting soul. Bright coloured and in spirit, it seemed. He shook his head, to not get distracted by the bright colours. Really, it was an amazing colour but he was trying to have a conversation and getting distracted was not a good idea.
“Sunbathing,” Dysi purred delightly, stretching as the sun hit his fur pleasantly. “It is quite nice on a day like today. Nothing to do, just lie in the sun and soak up some of it's warm.” He was usually not lazy, prefering to be on the move but today seemed like such a nice day to stay in one spot, if only for a little while. “What are you doing out here? Are you on your own?” He asked, sounding curious over the other male.

“I see. I guess bathing in the sun would be rather nice.” He glanced up at the burning ball, it’s face sneering at him. The sun was always a mean character to him, and he didn’t really know why. “I was actually out hunting for….a friend.” He looked to the side, trying not to let out too much. He may have had slight feelings for the girl, but now he was just interested in what was going on with her. If she was perfectly healthy, he’d be gone by now.
“But I’m afraid my hunting skills are rather….poor. I can’t sneak up on a thing to save my life, especially not with this coat.” He laughed, glancing down at himself. He was wondering if he should keep trying today, maybe go raid a hare’s den or something. Even the smallest bit might be good for her? He really didn’t know much in these kinds of things. He wasn’t a father, didn’t have a family worth boasting, and hadn’t been told how things were supposed to be. It seemed like these days it was just expected that he know everything.

Dysi tilted his head to the side as he watched the other male. He didn't seem that happy when he looked at the sun, and Dysi followed his gaze, trying to see what the other male did. Unfortunately, he couldn't and all he got was stinging eyes for looking directly at the bright spot. He blinked and tried to get rid of the spots now clouding his vision.
“I could help you hunt if you'd like?” He suggested, slipping from his rock with a simple grace, though he would never admit that he'd almost tripped over his own paws as he landed on the ground. “I hunt for my mate and I often, especially when she was with cubs, so I may be able to assist you in some way. You would take the kill, of course, since I have no need for the food.” His tail flicked behind him as he waited for the male's response. It was mostly out of boredom, and perhaps an honest desire to help that Dysi offered. He had nothing else to do that day, so he might as well offer to help another creature.
“I am Dysi, by the way,” he added, suddenly. He had forgotten to introduce himself, again.

“Help me? It could work.” Yu’s eyes were wide, unaffected by the glare of the sun. His tail methodically swayed, very intrigued by the idea of getting help with his hunting from a leopard. It had its advantages, or course, given the leopard’s sheer size and natural ability to hide itself. He, on the other hand, was clumsy, always wanting to be in the spotlight, and a bit too….bright to really conceal anything.
“Only if you’re free. Otherwise, I could just go see what I can scavenge.” As unappealing as that sounded, he didn’t feel like burdening someone today if they didn’t want him to. But the situation seemed rather familiar….the leopard hunting for his mate when she was with cubs. A thought of pregnancy in the female he’d been around flicked through his mind, but somehow, he’d always just assumed that he was too childish to every produce offspring. But the notion seemed all the more foolish, considering his body had aged even though his mind hadn’t.
“I’m Yu Zhou. But Yu sounds a bit cuter, I think.” As odd as it sounded, Yu was very concerned with every aspect of his appearance, even his name had to be perfect.

Dysi smiled at the male, head tilted to the side as the male spoke. “I have nothing to do now,” he told the male, unconcerned by wasting his time to help the cheetah. He had a soft spot for cheetahs afterall. His mate, Elua, Mani, even Aiko had wormed their way into his heart, meaning that Cheetahs always seemed a little special.
“Scavanging is just not as worth it as hunting,” he mused, his body stretching pleasantly as he tried to think of where they would find some food. “You never get quite enough to satisfy your hunger with scavanging. A pleasure to meet you, Yu.” He shot him a smile, then tilted his head up, breathing deep.
Faintly, he could scent some prey nearby. Likely only antelope, but a full grown antelope would be enough for the cheetah, he mused, and glanced towards where the scent originated. “There are some prey that way, I believe. Or they were there not long ago. Either way, we can find something there, I believe.”

“I suppose you’re right.” Yu looked up to the sky, the color morphing to a shade similar to the usual blue it had always been. This might be a good lesson in life for him, not only being forced to interact with another for a common goal, but he might actually get some improvement on his poor hunting skills.
“So how do we go about doing this?” He smiled over at Dysi, hoping that he’d have some magnificent plan of action for the dual hunt. “Because, as truly amazing as I am at hunting, I think it’d be best if we follow your plan of action.” Being wholly sarcastic, he started to laugh, swiveling his tail around behind him. This was looking like it could be a very interesting experience for the bright boy.

Dysi paused and then grinned at the male's sarcastic comment. “How about this, I know a lioness with colours as bright as yours, but different. She used to shock prey into staying still, while her partner could attack them. Shall we try that? So all you've got to do is stand there and look pretty.” It was a tease, and he set off towards the prey herd.
Ili'ella. He knew the young lioness from his days wandering, and knew she had settled with her cubs now but she still hunted in that fashion when she was with someone else. It was a risk, since the prey could just turn and run away but with Yu, he could probably stun them easily.
The herd was a herd of antelope, and were grazing so they didn't notice their approach. Dysi lightened his footsteps, crouching low as they moved closer. Hopefully, Yu was doing the same.
