Zanpakutos, soul cutters, they are the trademark tools of the Shinigami and are vital in performing their duties of soul burial and hollow cleansing. A Zanpakuto is part of their master's soul, they are an embodiment of their power and by communicating with them the Shinigami can increase their power by a significant amount. When a mutual understanding is reached between the two, Shikai is made accessible, and when the Shinigami has proved themselves to be deserving of the power by defeating their Zanpakutos, Bankai is made accessible. The Zanpakutos are as diverse and unique as the Shinigamis that wield them, and they are as much a part of the Gotei 13 as their masters, understanding and unison between the two is needed to maximize their power. In the Gotei 13, all the Shinigamis within their ranks have achieved at least Shikai level, and all of them have communicated with their Zanpakutos at one point in time. It is this communication and mutual cooperation that allows them to perform their duties. However, due to an unknown cause, it seems that vital cooperation between Shinigami and Zanpakutos will be broken.

As the Shinigamis wake up in the morning, they realize that overnight their Zanpakutos have randomly switched between those of the other Gotei 13 Shinigamis. This has caused much confusion and panic, as not only the lower seats but the Captains and Lieutenants have also been subjected to this strange unknown occurrence. The Shinigamis rush to find a solution to their problem, but in the meantime they are forced to make do with the Zanpakutos of other Shinigami, as a swarm of hollows have just been reported to be closing in on the Human World. Will the Shinigamis be able to find out what had caused such a strange occurrence? Will the Zanpakutos be returned to their respective owners? And how will the Shinigamis deal with the looming threat closing in on the Human World just above the horizon? We will soon find out the answers to these questions.

Some notes, the Zanpakutos will be randomly switched. I plan on accomplishing this by having those interested in participating to post in a sort of Activity check thread, they will then be listed and at the start of the RP the members will "Post Action: Random Number" The number generated will determine whose Zanpakuto they will receive.

For example:
1. Hibiki
2. Hei
3. Yuki

Hibiki: Random Number: 3 - Hibiki will acquire Yuki's Zanpakuto

Hei: Random Number: 1 - Hei will acquire Hibiki's Zanpakuto

Yuki: Random Number 2 - Yuki will acquire Hei's Zanpakuto

Should a number come up twice, the last one to generate the random number will have to generate another one. Should a taken number be generated, then simply generate another one.

You will not have Shikai or Bankai of the Zanpakuto you acquire, instead you will be forced to attain it over the course of the RP, while battling the hollow swarm. Your inner world will stay the same, but instead of your Zanpakuto spirit/s inside it, the acquired Zanpakuto spirit/s will be there instead.

The hollow swarm's profile will be created and posted shortly, please comment on the general idea in the meantime.

Name: Swarmling
Actual Age: 100 years or so
Sex: N/A
Height: 6'5" (head to tail)
Weight: 247 lbs
Eye Color: Yellow
Personality: Swarmling/s rely on animal instinct and act in accordance to situation, either fight of flight. They function with a hive-mind and change tactics as such, they prefer to win using numbers and will encircle and simultaneously overwhelm a foe when given the opportunity to do so.
Bio:
Swarmling/s are at an Adjuchas level of Hollow power, but do not share the boost in intellect with other Adjuchas. They live in great numbers within the Menos Forest and keep a low profile in the shadows. Here they feast and multiply at an exponential rate, far greater than expected of their powers. Recently a swarm of them have invaded the Human World, aiming to increase their territory and feast upon potent Shinigamis souls. Their numbers are already dividing rapidly and as they do, their covert invasion is slowly being felt by the Gotei 13.

Special Abilities/Extra Weapons:
Greater Acidic Touch
- Hollows have been known to create scarring wounds on human flesh whenever they come into contact with them. The wound causes pain to the victim, similar to when a strong acid is poured onto the skin. Swarmling/s have improved on this ability, to the point where it can now affect even Captain class Shinigami-- though of course the effects range from burning pain to a mere temporary tatoo. Generally, lower seats will suffer from a burning pain in the area, Lieutenants will suffer from an irritation in the area, and Captains will feel only discomfort in that area.

Dual-mode Cero
- A swarmling's Cero is at the same power level as that of an Adjuchas, the difference however is that they are also capable of switching between two modes of fire. A straight and narrow beam, capable of piercing through flesh at long distances. And a wide burst shot, capable of ripping flesh but only at a relatively short distance. They can also fire a Cero from a total of 29 different areas in the body; the palms and their three claws, the three horns, the mouth and the tail.

Large Garganta
- A single swarmling, given enough time can tear open a Garganta big enough for thousands of them to pass through. This usually reserved for when the initial swarm is being completely overwhelmed, and with no chance of escape. They signal the swarmling charged with this and it begins its task, once it opens a vast fleet of swarmling, numbering up to thousands pass through the Garganta from their home in the Menos Forest.

Swarm Negacion
- A swarmling's Negacion is special in two ways, one is that the negacion's shape is different, in that it can only be fired from one swarmling to another. Mainly because during transmission, the beam appears as a yellow, hollow rope and upon contact with another swarmling it latches on to one of the four blue-colored orbs on its back and abdomen, it then coats the swarmling in a personal negacion barrier. The second reason why it is different, is in its use, the swarmlings don't use this for escape, they use it for capture. By forming a net of nodes and rope, they can ensnare a target it a negacion net.

High-Speed Regeneration and Multiplication
- Like all Adjuchas the swarmling/s has an obscene amount of regenerative capabilities, and can only be killed when the entire head is destroyed. Added to that, when a part of a swarmling/s is cut off, either intentionally or by accident, that part retains the regenerative capabilities of the original and grows into a swarmling right on the spot.

Greater Hollow Shot
- Though not as strong as an Arrancar's Bala, the swarmling/s can fire blasts of concentrated spirit particles from where they usually fire their Ceros. The blasts are not as fast as a Bala but they are as powerful as one.

Nah, I just want to see how everyone's RPC reacts when their zanpakutos get switched. Besides, that's why I decided to use the Random Number thing, that way the chances of Yuki and Hei switching are minimal.

This is, indeed, silly. It would be a good way to get people to post, but I'm not sure its a REALLY good idea. Only because a lot of people wouldn't be able to convey the same feeling of someone else's Zanpakutou personality wise, and physically.

A good idea though.

Thank you for your comment Taitei, perhaps I should work on it then. Nonetheless I definitely want this to come to fruition as the thought is simply too hilarious to pass off, so perhaps I could ask for some suggestions?

Well, to play upon the idea, instead of people switching Zanpakutou, we could have people switching with their spirits. Instead being wield and not the wielder. We could also maybe just switch powers and not the Souls. That way we can still have the general affect but not loose the ability to RP correctly or genuinely.

Hmm... so the zanpakuto's form will still be the same, but the spirit and the power will be different? That does indeed sound interesting, and it would be far easier that way.

I was just thinking power, not spirit. I know a lot of people probably can't convey Taigaa's Zan Spirit's personality right and all that jazz, much like I wouldn't be able to do someone else's.

If we do just the powers, we can have a better development of frustration and such.
