Kame = Bold
Tai = Blue
Kame'bufuu scoured around the area he was settling in for the next couple of days. It was open savannah with a small oasis nearby, which only really attracted smaller groups of animals and some other cats. Kame settled on a nearby rock, giving him a slightly elevated view of the surrounding areas. A prime area to spot people coming and going.
"It's quiet," He murmured to himself, not having seen anybody around in the last few hours. It seemed odd to him, with the sun now on the low end, you would see more lions, leopards or cheetahs about. But there was none, it was eerie.
Tai'kipepeo had just finished wolfing down the last of her dinner, which had been a generous helping of rodents (they conveniently liked to scamper about, thinking it was safe as the sun came down), and now she was moving to water, needing to wash the crunchy little buggers down with something. Trotting forward, she scanned the area, trying to see if there was anything she ought to avoid...from her perspective, she couldn't quite see Kame'bufuu, and so continued to the water, eyes lidding slightly as she dipped her muzzle delicately into the cooling liquid. Ah...yes, that hit the spot.
Kame'bufuu noticed her approach from his perch on the rock, and tilted his head to the side as he inspected her. She was a cute looking lioness, her blue coat was a charming blue, and the pink of her hair looked nice against it. He stepped down from his perch and onto the ground, approaching her till he was within earshot to speak to her.
"Afternoon, lioness." Kame said, his voice quiet and calm as he sat himself onto the ground several feet from her, "I'm Kame'bufuu. What might your name be?"
Ah my...what a strange, handsomely dark creature had approached her. Smiling faintly, she shook the water droplets from her muzzle, "Good afternoon...I am Tai'kipepeo, but Tai is far shorter, easier for others to remember." He didn't seem to have any ill intent, so she would approach him with the same sort of caution she felt was warranted to any new stranger. "What brings you this way?"
Tai'kipepeo, that was an lovely name and it rolled off the tongue in an interesting way to Kame'bufuu. He gave Tai a mild smile; he tried not to smile too widely at times as his unique markings tended to give off a more menacing presence than he ever intended.
"Nothing in particular," Kame said, "I was merely wandering wherever my paws took me."
He looked over her once more, she did not seem nearly as old as him, but he had been fooled before by women who just know how to take rather good care of himself. He dared not ask, though, it was rude.
"Do you travel alone, Tai?"
"I do, usually." She replied easily enough. Honestly, she wasn't worried about being a lone female, though she wasn't too terribly skilled in combat, she was swift on her feet, and at least knowledgeable in the art of defending herself. Her keen mind, after all, usually kept her out of trouble, and the enhancement of womanly wiles was not a thing to be disregarded either. "I'm not adventuring really, more seeking...for something that feels right to me."
"We seem to have something in common than," Kame said, bringing a paw up and scratching the base of his mane quickly. He could not stand the bugs around watering holes. They always bit at him for some reason, and this caused very irritating itching.
"I am searching too, though not as adamantly as some would figure I would be," Kame commented, "This may seem strange to most, but I am searching for several women. Women willing to live with me, bear and rear my children in exchange for protection from outside predators and males."
"Up until several months ago I lived my life in a warring pride. I was their general, ruling over the armies underneath the pride leader. I the entirety of my life dedicated to war, mostly winning wars," He said. His voice was a little more solemn about the subject, but was not spiteful in the least, "I had no time for a mate, or children. Males my age have sired several litters of children by now. I don't even have one. I wish to change this."
The blue female's ears perked as Kame began to talk, listening with some curiosity as he spoke of his plans. Interesting....she'd never heard a fellow be so very, well logical about such wishes before. He wasn't the first male in history to want females after all, far from it. "It is natural to want children...someone to continue your legacy." She agreed quietly, "I do not think such a plan would be impossible to execute. You will, however, want such lionesses as will augment your own talents and prowess...those who will be loyal..."
She was quite a few years old, after all, and she had never had children either. Tai could understand that yearning. "It is a sound plan, so long as you find the companions for the rest of your life...don't forget you'll be stuck with them indefinitely, women aren't easy to get rid of." That last seemed almost teasing, her smile widening as she concluded her words of caution.
Kame was astounded at how understanding Tai was. It was very attractive to him that she could relate to how he felt and not sit there appalled like he figured most females would be listening to him rattle on about wanting several mates at once. He couldn't help but feel a tiny bit smitten by this characteristic in her.
Kame's smile widened a little at Tai's comment, and he chuckled, "I am aware; though if any of the women did not feel they wanted the arrangement anymore, they would be free to leave. I'm not going to force any woman to stay against her will, there's no honor in that."
"You are a very fascinating lioness, Tai. Very understanding," He complimented, "A trait your children no doubt must share."
Her ears swiveled once more at that last comment, and she shook her head, "Alas, sir...I haven't children..." Chuckling at her own formality, she waved a paw dismissively. "Haven't found a reason to settle down, really...and none of the lions that I've spent any significant time with, well nothing happened, if you'll understand." And she was too practical to throw herself in with the hot-blooded youngsters that tended to run the circuit these days. Whilst there might be something attractive in such spur of the moment passion, she'd never felt that particular lust for it.
This fellow, on the other hand, was straightforward, not trying to sweet-talk her, and didn't treat her like a dimwit just because she was female. It was dreadfully promising, really.
"Oh, forgive me," Kame said, not meaning to have offended her by implying she had children, or by reminding her she didn't. He had foolishly assumed she had children already, considering her beauty, manners, and intellect.
He nodded his understanding to Tai. It was an acceptable reason. Sometimes you have to be patient in order to find an individual situation or circumstance that was to your liking before making such serious decisions. They were never something that should be made lightly and he could appreciate that in an individual.
He cleared his throat momentarily before speaking, "I didn't intend to imply anything. I only assumed someone as desirable as yourself may have already had a litter of cubs. I am sincerely sorry if it offended you, Tai."
Sitting languidly, she waved a paw dismissively at his apology, "Now, now..." Tai rumbled softly, "I was not offended...you seem a logical creature...and a polite handsome one at that. Oh wait, he'd said something... bright blue eyes went slightly wide. He'd called her desireable. Oh my...
"Kame'bufuu..." She rumbled softly, tilting her head to one side, "Are you expressing interest in me?" It was not at all accusing, but more inquisitive. It might be interesting, to run with this one, he seemed quite the warrior gentleman, and if nothing else, he could take care of responsibility...cubs if they should happen. it seemed logical and rather attractive, honestly.
Kame was silent for several moments after Tai's inquisition. It was true he was interested in her, and he could not very well deny it, but he still felt awkward about stating so. Being nothing but a warrior for so long and not aquatinting yourself with women in any formal senses had its draw backs. This being one of them.
Kame cleared his throat and quietly spoke, "I am...expressing interest in you, Tai. If you'd permit it."
Well, his obvious awkardness was rather endearing, and she inclined her head, peering out from beneath a pink tuft of hair at the other, not at all shy. "I would indeed permit you...it seems like you and I are not dissimilar." And she shrugged slightly, "And it also sounds like it might be fun." And one must never rule out fun as a motive, after all.
Kame was pleased by Tai's response, and a small purr rumbled in his chest as a response. He really wasn't a bad guy, just a bit formal, and a military-like from all his years as being an army's general. He hoped that having himself several women, and and rearing himself a brood of children will help take the edge off of him.
"We are indeed not dissimilar," Kame said, watching as the sun fell ever lower on the horizon. He turned back to Tai, feeling that finding shelter for the night may be the best thing to do at the moment, "We should look for a place to settle for the evening. We can perhaps speak more when we have found a safe place?"
