(( Sorry it took so long for me to reply! D:! When we set up a subforum, shall we move this thread? x3 ))
Nessa gave a gentle laugh, coming up to butt her body softly into her mate's. She brushed her cheek against Kouji's shoulder, her thickly feathered tail wagging in a couple lazy beats. "What have you been thinking about?"
Catching his golden gaze with her own, she tried to read the complex expression upon his face. He looked wonderful in this moonlight, his azure coat polished by the silvery beams. As he licked at her muzzle Nessa felt a warm glow inside. She couldn't remember a time when she had been so happy. Growing up really hadn't been too bad at all.
"I thought I was the one you had to worry about getting lost." She grinned mischievously at his statement, then reduced it to a smile, sensing there was some serious reason behind his musings. "But really, is everything alright?" Nessa's olive eyes were a subdued gray-green in the night, but it was apparent that they were filled with nothing but soft love for this wolf in front of her.

((No worries! heart Yeah, that would be a good idea. 3nodding ))
Kouji snuffed softly through his nostrils, lightly tossing his head and turning to comb his teeth through some of her fur harmlessly.
"I'm not the only one keeping my promise." He chuckled, letting his mind sort through how he wanted to word his answer to her question. Her eyes gave off a sense of home. Being with her made him feel like they needed to find a place to call their own. It just wasn't in his blood to be a follower, and now that he had Nessa with him (Smart, capable, kind-hearted, brave, and lithe) he felt like... like he was ready for something that he'd been running away from for a long time now.
Kouji's azure and white painted tail began to gently fan at the air, ocassionally brushing against hers as they crossed paths.
"I was thinking about the pack, the one where I was born."
Kouji had never actually found the right time to tell Nessa about how he came to the Shaoilin Woods. She'd been too young before, and he was nervous about bringing it up for some reason, until now. Just wait for the right time, that's what his mind kept saying.

Nessa's brow perked softly at his reply. His old pack... were these good thoughts or bad thoughts that were playing through his head? She couldn't quite tell from the countenance on his face. She had certainly deduced that Kouji's mission to retrieve his mother had been quite an urgent one, and he had come back with new wounds that Nessa was sure hadn't come from the run-in with the hounds so long ago.
At the time, Nessa had been too happy to see him to question too diligently, but now was different. The shewolf leaned into the steady mass of fur at her side, the grounded presence that had shielded her from so much in her life, before slipping to the ground, paws scooting out the front as she took up a residence in a soft clump of grass spotlighted by a glimmer of moonlight.
Belly to the ground, she kept her form curved slightly, so as to allow Kouji's muscled body an easy fit at her side if he chose to drop down as well. "You never quite told me what happened when you went back for Tomoyo," She said softly, openendedly, hoping he might let her in now that she was older.

It was time for Nessa to find out the truth about things. It was silly not to have at least told Yero before, it could've made things much simpler. Nessa was not aware until now simply because Kouji had not wanted to worry her with the details of his past, but she was older now, and she needed and deserved to know.
Her weight settled against him, then eased away again as she got more comfortable. Following his mate's example, Kouji also shifted back and spread out his front legs, sliding into an easy lay. He curled his body a little around hers, resting his head over the top of hers.
"Well... it started when I was born..."

Nessa's cobalt ears pitched forward as Kouji spoke soaking in his soft tones. Behind her olive green eyes, snatches of pictures formed as he told his story: Kouji's pack, previously a paradise, tyrannized by the once benevolent leader; a mighty wolf named Chen, and his frustration when his mate produced only one son; Kouji and his sister Talia's escape, and Kouji's journey back to free the cherry-pelted Tomoyo.
Nessa absorbed all his history, was quiet a moment and then spoke, tilting her slender muzzle into her mate's. "I had no idea..." The underlying hints of sorrow and frustration in Kouji's voice made the her sad for him.
"So that's why you came back with those.. scars. You fought him." The dark pelted female leaned into the wolf at her side, his shoulder creating warmth on her own. "And the rest of the pack is still trapped?"

It was sad to say, but Kouji held no sympathy for his father any longer. He once felt badly for the one that helped bring him into this world, knowing he had so much of a burden on his shoulders, but now that things had gone as far as they had... The insults to his mother and sisters still wrung harsh in his ears. In front of Trija, no less, to call them such things just lashing out for selfish anger. He was ashamed to admit that his father had torn down everything his grandfather and granfather's forefathers worked to build.
"Yes." He answered simply, a distraught, tired, and angry mix of tone in his voice. Her close proximity did do wonders to keep him grounded, her being there...
It was then that Kouji's eyes narrowed softly with thought.
".... Nessa..."

Nessa lay beside him still, and her slender form gave a slight, unnoticable quiver. The muscles in her throat strung taut as her mate's sadness swept over her, and she thought of those that must have been left behind, all alone, and trapped in the shadow of a tyrant.
"But that's horrible!" She said fiercely, ears folding back in anger. "They can't just--stay there for the rest of their lives! How can they--"
But then Kouji spoke her name. She halted her fervent protest but her face was still filled with an unhappy passion. "...Kouji..."

Kouji shifted his body with a pivot of his middle, semi-curling around her and for a few moments he just took in her scent. Nessa had been the one constant in his life, besides his mother, who he had to fight his father for. It seemed like nothing in life would ever come to him for free, but those things that he fought for he did so because they were important enough to him to DO so. Nessarose and Tomoyo were easily the two most important females in his life, his sisters coming in at close second, Whisper and the friends he'd made here as well.
So it was no surprise that for minutes he did not answer beyond having spoken her name. Once again something that he cared about would have to be taken back by force, though in this instance the fight would not be for a single wolf, or even territory, but for his family, for his sister and all of the friends in the pack back home, the loved ones and the friends of his mother and sisters, and their friend's friends. All those that were forcibly surpressed under Chen's rule would ALSO be set free. He'd shown them once that it could be done if they wanted it badly enough. If they were willing to pay the price it took to win back their freedom.
"You're right." He said softly, but with liquid conviction coursing through his blood. "It's not right, and I cannot sit idly by and let him do this unapposed."
