Tellulah drifted at the surface of the lake, enjoying the feel of the warm sun on her face and the cool water at her back. She lazy picked up strands of water, twirling it between her fingers before letting it become part of the lake again. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a flash of lavender and blue, but thinking it a reflection of herself and the sun, she paid it no mind, sighing to herself in her relaxation.

Conláed quickly ducked his head back under the water, where the seasnake in front of him would be less likely to notice him, the shifting shadows of the ripples hiding his speckled coloring. He saw just as well underwater, so there was no need to come up to watch her. He hadn't seen her here before, and there were few enough other denizens of these waterways, so he was naturally curious. A bit too shy to go forward to meet her, though... at least not yet.

The ripples from the male's sudden movement underwater came at Tellulah, causing a little bit of water to splash onto her face. She sputtered, not expecting it at all, her arms flailing as she tried to find equillibrium. Her thrashing tail brushed against something solid and she squealed, flailing all the more. Her head dipped underwater and once the bubbles settled, she came face-to-face with some male, his body and tail the same colors as hers.

Conláed hadn't realized how still the water was, that his small movement would make that much of a wave. When she brushed against him, he darted back, but still facing her. When she dropped below the surface, and saw him, he froze for a moment. His eyes widened, and then he was off like a shot, diving underwater and swimming away. She saw me, she saw me... How did I let her see me?!

'Wait!' she called out as he raced off, 'I wasn't gonna hurt you...' She frowned as she trailed off. How long had he been there? Was he watching her? She shivered a little and blushed at the thought that he have just been there to watch her. She didn't know what to do now, she couldn't relax enough to rest on the surface, she was too wired up and curious. She made a move to follow him, but didn't know how he'd react to that, so she just float there, biting her lip, unsure what to do.

When she called out to him, he stopped suddenly, and turned. He hung there in the water, almost not moving at all, his eyes warily on her. "Why are you here? When did you get here?" He knew everyone in these waters, she was new, and that's why she was frightening.

She looked down to where her hands were fidgeting with her tail. He made her nervous. She didnt account for such feelings. Her voice was small, but she made sure he could hear her. 'I'm quite new, as I only made it here recently. This water was so calm, serene, I needed to stay here...' She trailed off, thinking herself boring him and embarrassing herself, more feelings she did not know about. 'Oh, and my name is Tellulah.'

Her voice was so soft... With a frown, he swam a bit closer so he could hear better.
She looked even more nervous than he felt, and that made him feel guilty. She thought she'd been all alone, and he'd been there watching and never said hello. "Um... Hi, Tellulah. I'm Conláed. Where are you from, then if you're new here?"

At that question she wrung the end of her tail a bit harder, wincing at the slight pain in it. She didn't know where she had came from, she couldn't remember. It was there, she knew, but it was like something kept blocking her from knowing. She looked up at him, giving him a small, shy smile, 'Conlaed' she whispered to herself as to better remember. She had a bad memory and repeating things helped a bit. 'I...dont know where I came from..I just found myself here...' she hoped he believed her answer.

Not very helpful... but he didn't remember much from before he got here, either, so also not really surprising. He swam a little closer, not as nervous around her anymore. "So... you're lost? Do you have anyone you know, any friends around here?" If she didn't, he supposed he could take her in. He knew his way around here, he could help her settle in.

She whimpered and hugged her tail to her chest as he got closer. She hung her head as she admitted to him that she hadn't seen anyone around but him since she got here. She looked at him again, and blushed as she found herself thinking him quite handsome. Yet he still made her nervous, and now a little scared as she noted his skeptical and predatory stance. She looked at him with her large eyes, pleading him with them not to hurt her.

He frowned. Why was she acting so scared? He hadn't done anything, and he'd run away when she first saw him. He slowly held out one hand. "It's all right, I remember when I was new here. If you don't know anyone yet... I guess I can be your friend, show you around. Do you have somewhere to live yet?"

Just as slowly as he held out his hand, she slid hers in his at that same speed. She let go of her tail and her other hand came to twirls a strand of her hair between her fingers. She had a feeling she was in his territory, but he was being so nice. Her voice still small, she spoke to him sweetly, "You're very kind. I dont have anywhere that I am staying, I haven't slept at all yet, actually, and I'm very tired." As evidence of this, she blinked, her eyes visably difficult to open again.

He blinked. "Really? How long have you been here, that you haven't slept?" He looked around, then over his shoulder, getting his bearings. "I guess you can stay for tonight at my place, I have a nice cave on the other side of the lake. Once you're rested, we can look around and find somewhere for you. There's lots of caves and grottos, or even just seaweed patches if you prefer that." He grinned suddenly. "I think you'll like it here, everyone's pretty nice."

Smiles sleepily at him, "I've been here about...three days." She giggled in her tiredness, and blushed as he offered his cave. "You are so nice, Conlaed...did I get that right?" She tilted her head and giggles some more, not even knowing or having a reason why. "Thank you, for offering a place for me to sleep."
