Okay, when the hell is this game set? I am not entirely sure when Desert Storm took place. And does it actually tie back to the original game at all? Like the sacrificing of children, it's not for God is it? Ugh I'm so confused.

Actually, yeah, the sacraficed kids were for the Silent Hill Gods, but it was more of a way to convince those Gods to leave Shepherd Glen alone. As for when it's set, I'm not actually sure, but I figure its got to be some time before Allison burns and starts her little mini-war with the gods, because Travis is there and doesn't look traumatized yet.
As for Desert Storm...I'm not actually sure what that has to do with Homecoming at all 0.o

According to journals provided for the game from the standpoints of the characters the game actually takes place in 2008. Alex was sent to the mental hospital in 2004. Four years have passed since Alex was gone, which was the time it took for the town to deteriorate due to him not being sacrificed. So it happens after all other Silent Hill games to date. Also, due to the date, it's ether the Iraq or Afghanistan war Alex is (supposedly) returning from. http://silenthill.wikia.com/wiki/Shepherd's_GlenQuote: 2004 - The Deal is Broken * September 20th and 21st - Shepherd's Glen celebrates it's 150th anniversary. * Week of September 22nd - Alex Shepherd goes missing, Joshua Shepherd dies. According to Adam Shepherd, Alex "left home". o On a boat upon Toluca Lake, Joshua shows Alex the Shepherd Family Ring, a symbol of the family's past. While trying to wrestle the ring from Alex, Joshua falls and hits his neck on the boat's edge. In turn, this causes him to fall into the lake and drown. + One can assume that Joey Bartlett, Scarlet Fitch, and Nora Holloway have each gone missing as well. Adam Shepherd had designated Alex as the Shepherd Family sacrifice. As it was Joshua who died, however, the sacrifice was rejected and the pact of protection broken. [edit] Four Years Gone * Between 2004 and 2008, Shepherd's Glen is stricken by God's Wrath, and begins to slowly succumb to the effects of The Otherworld. o It is also within this time that Judge Holloway reforms The Order. She and the adherents of the "True Faith", as she calls it, begin to abduct people from Shepherd's Glen. Those who choose not to follow the ways of The Order are killed. Adam Shepherd, in a note to his wife Lillian, speculates on the reasons for this. [edit] 2008 - Homecoming Having been hospitalized outside of Shepherd's Glen, Alex Shepherd, being either discharged or escaping care, receives a ride home from trucker Travis Grady. Suffering from nightmares about the town and his brother, Alex returns to make sure that all is well. Coming upon the town proper, Alex is greeted with a disturbing sight. Alex arrives to his hometown. Shepherd's Glen, during the four years since Alex was last home, the town had slipped into a state of serious decay. Heavy, unnatural fog permeates the town. Cars lie abandoned or wrecked along the sides of the streets, and there are no signs of other inhabitants, save Judge Holloway and her daughter Elle, Curtis Ackers, Deputy Wheeler, Martin Fitch, Mayor Bartlett, and Alex's mother, Lillian Shepherd.

Okay, cool. But, then, what the heck is Travis doing there? That is way too much of a coincidence. And, woah, I didn't know Alex was in the hospital for four years 0.0! I figured it had been, at most, -a- year...but, then, I guess that does explain why Shepherds Glen was as bad as it was. It would also explain why Elle hadn't mentioned right away that her sister was missing, and would also explain why no one would give their condolances for Josh; four years going by probably took the urgency out of it.
I'm very close to having played all of the Silent Hill games now...but Homecoming is still my favorite smile

I mean he's not driving to Silent Hill, he was going through Shepards Glen.

Well it's pretty obvious that it takes place after SH3 considering some of the documents you find mention Heather and Douglas. So I guess since Travis was supposed to be the first one to go to Silent Hill out of all the protagonists, that him escaping from SH is canonical. That's all I know for sure! xd

I think Travis' appearance was mostly fan-fodder - just like Pyramid Head. Also, in the last area, there are some reports written by Douglas, so it makes sense, storyline-wise.

Silent Hill: Origins was basically the prologue to Homecoming and the other games. Travis is a trucker, so he travels. His appearance does have a reason.
It takes place in a neighboring town to Silent Hill. Four families immigrated there to be freed from the Order's rule. However, the Otherworld reaches to Shepards' Glenn and other surrounding towns. Scarlet had every right to be pissed... What a crappy decision to settle down near Silent Hill.

I have to agree with the bad decision. If you're moving away from a demonic cult with psychotic members, go as far the hell away as possible. Washington, Arizona, Mexico if needed be, don't just settle across the goddamn lake.

I'd be like, "Gee, thanks, mom/dad! Due to your lack of planning, I'm gonna be sacrificed to a bitchy god. I sure hope it wont be painful! Oh wait, you didn't plan THAT out either. Thanks again, dumbasses. PEACE!"

Washington, Arizona, Mexico if needed be, don't just settle across the goddamn lake. This is rather interesting... you mention if you're going to move away from a cult to move as far as possible... however, Walter Sullivan, the antagonist of SH4 was raised by The Order at Wish House... during his rituals his spirit actually traveled all the way to Mexico to kill one of his victims. It's safe to assume if you have any connection to Silent Hill, you're probably screwed no matter where you go.
