The Town of V'enir

Located South of the DSBG Estate is a medium sized town known as V'enir. The town is situated on a popular trade route and being surrounded by lush farmland, there is very little that you cannot find here. The people for the most part are friendly and helpful, although there are some rougher neighbourhoods. Best to stay away from there unless you're looking for trouble! =o

The town is overshadowed to west by Mt. V'rein, the Guardian mountain. Other than that, the town... while she has very little to do with it's workings... falls under Sierra's protection in times of attack and natural disaster.

Key NPC's & Groups

Highlord of V'enir: The Highlord is like the 'Mayor' of the city, perhaps with a little more power since he wasn't elected. The Highlords are chosen by their predecessor. While it isn't the town's decision who reigns over them, they DO get to vote on the actual workings of the town. The current town leader is Highlord Varis the XI.

Varis the XI: This of course is an inherited title assosiated with the town and his position. His real name is Myren Shipple. If anyone were to come across Shipple, he is roughly 6ft 3'' and weighs about 170lbs. He is of a slender build, lightly muscled. He has shoulder length hair that is usually kept tied back in a neat throng of leather. His face might look young for someone of 43 years... but his mustache and goatee save him from that. Instead he looks firm and distinguished. His hair is honey gold with strands of silver slipping into it. His eyes are the blue of a clear winter sky. He is most commonly seen dressed up in the elaborate attire of his office (long decorative robes).

Varis' Personal Assistant: A bold and at times, overly flamboyant man... he aims to make sure his Lord's every needs are met while gleaning all the tricks of the trade. Ruugen Tallow... It is his life's goal to work his way up to being the next Highlord just like Myren did. Naturally, his hair is black as night, but he has bleached it white-blond in an attempt to emmulate his mentor. He is a slender built man with green eyes. Standing at at about 6ft 1'', he is usually seen to be dressed in overly fancy clothes in an attempt to show of his wealth and position. Too bad nobody ever took the time teach him the difference between being tacky and having good tatse!

Lord Krulan: Age 45, J'ian Krulan was a peer of the current Highlord. They attended the same classes and both worked in the office of Varis the X as aides. He has had a bitter taste in his mouth ever since Shipple was promoted to personal assistant, but his final ascension to Highlord has been gnawing on him ever since. His jealousy has all but consumed him and there are some very twisted workings behind this political master mind. Subtly he campaigns to overthrow the Highlord. The dark villainous type... he has a lot of weight within the community and while he is seen to be helping the less fortunate, it is suspected that he has a hand in the black market trading as well as the gang activity in the south-west quarter. Bearded & moustached he has ebony hair, cut short. Mysteriously he hasn't a spec of grey... Maybe he dyes it >_>''

The V'erin'ian Society: Like the city council, 12 lords and ladies sit in seats of office over the city. They are led by the Highlord and act as the city's government. Matters of importance are brought before the Society members. Only if 6 or more members agree that it is beyond their ability to pass judgement... does the matter get passed on to the Highlord for review. In legal matters... they are both Jury and Judge. Standard laws are passed by these 12 and then given to their leader for final approval. They are the people that govern the flow of people in and out of the city, as well as monitor what may be sold in the city markets. They act as a regulator for the people, striving to maintain the normalacy of day to day life. Be careful though! A lot of suspicious actions can be hidden behind the phrase "For the good of the people."

The Palace Guard: The personal Guard of the Highlord, with sub divisions that serve the members of the V'erin'ian Society as well. There are multiple ways to be selected as part of this elite military force. Most commonly, officer's in the City Patrol who are recognized and decorated for outstanding duty in the name of the city are often given the choice of a transfer ((Like an ultimate promotion)). It means that they start over again as a lower rank, but the benefits of being a member of the royal guard is more than adequate compensation.

City Patrol: The equivelant to city police or city guards. They make regular rounds, protecting the city's residents from thieves and bandits as well as the local gangs that threaten the peace. They are responsible for querying travellors as to the nature of their visit, when entering the city. When the Officer's make an arrest, the criminal is then brought before the V'erin'ian society for trial.

Freedom of Faith: An organization founded by the heads and religious leaders of churches and temples of every denomination and allignment. They are the board that oversees all of the city's religious matters and needs, while making sure that all faiths are treated with equality.

The Saints of V'enir: Residing in the South West Quarter of the city, the 'Saints' are a hardcore gang that rules the underworld of this city. There used to be several other gangs, but the Saints declared a war on their rivals and succesfully sabatoged and annhialted them one by one. V'enir's version of the mob, they control the black market.

** Martyr's ** High ranking members of the gang, they lead the Saint's, calling themselves Martyr's and victims of the Highlord's Opression and harassment of the City Patrol.

The City Patrol

The City Patrol acts as the city's police/guard force. Officers are often referred to as the C.P.O.

This group is overseen by: Nighthunter

If you have need of a CPO officer, wish to roleplay with one or want
to Join the CP Task Force... he is the person to contact.



Key info for CPO's.

- It is a CPO's responsibility to monitor traveller's and goods coming into and leaving the city.

- It is their job to uphold the peace and laws of V'enir

- If a CPO makes an arrest, they are to protect the criminal from harm until he/she is delivered to the Verinian Society to recieve a fair trial.

- The CPO are guardians of the people.

- HOWEVER. There are some 'Bad' or 'Dirty' officers. These officers abuse their position and have their hands in all kinds of illegal activity. Some even aid The Saints.






The SAINTS

This group is overseen by: Dragosani Kain

If you wish to roleplay with one of the mobsters, either to face off against
them... challenge them for territory, to deal 'goods' or want to join The
SAINTS... he is the person to contact.



:: How to distinguish different positions in the gang ::

The symbol of the SAINTS is a vine wrapped cross, with a rosary entwined about it. This tattoo means that the bearer is part of the gang/mob. However, it is the colour of the rosary that bears significance. Different coloured rosary's represent different positions.

Rayne's Coffee and Cafe

ABOUT THE CAFE:
Why does the cafe's name have 'Coffee and Cafe' ? Rather redundant you say? Well true... but Rayne's Cafe also sells specialty coffee. It was a new endevour that proved quite successful after the famous success of the cafe's own special blend known as "V'enirian Roast"

FEATURES: A peaceful and relaxing indoor garden atmosphere, with it's own bakery and specialty coffees. Comfortably seats 25.

DESCRIPTION: The cafe isn't small, but neither is it large. Decently sized, it lets roughly 25 people in at a time to keep from being overcrowded.
The atmosphere is warm and cozy, with the scent of freshly ground coffee coiling through the air. This scent is accented by the sweet smells of sugary treats and the spicey scent of cinnamon as bread and pasteries are always being brought fresh out of the oven.
The cafe is lit by tall lamps in every corner, with smaller lamps set on every table's center. The ceiling is a latticework of vines entwined with fairy lights so that the shop isn't dark, but rather glows enchantingly. Each tables lamp is surrounded by a small gathering of flowers and braided ribbons to form a small centre piece. The tables are covered with white cloth and the chairs are carved beautifully from oak, stained and polished to a rich gold colour.
The counter is situated to the right of the shop's entrance and stretches all along that lengthways wall. Sections of the counter are made of glass and encase freshly baked goods ready for customer purchase.
The cafe's remaining three walls are lined with small stone benches for extra or optional seating and are surrounded by leafy potted plants.
The sound of running water can be heard faintly from a fountain centered on the far back wall. Gentle instrumental music joins it to aide in creating this relaxing, indoor garden environment.
