Another set of anti-depressants he needed to take, another set of pills to add to his rainbow of mood modifiers. He growled and threw the little pink slip into the safe near his bed. His roommates knew that his side of the dorm apartment was off limits under pain of dismemberment or an hour with the perky girl who came by twice a week. He slammed the safe door shut and twirled the lock and wiped the keypad down with a grimy looking soft cloth. Call him paranoid, but he had a small fortune worth of pill slips in that safe that he didn't want stolen.

Outside the remnants of that days storm dissipated slowly, the moody gray clouds lingering longer then they had any right to. It suited Tobias's mood perfectly. He growled and stalked out of the room and past his frantic roommates. They, as usual, waited until the last day to get their projects done. He was out the door before they noticed him. He climbed the stairs to the roof of the building, alone save for the one couple necking near the fire escape.

The cool air of dusk was a welcomed distraction, the metal of the chain link fence was still wet with rainwater. The dark haired youth leaned against it with a sigh, uncaring that his white shirt was becoming see through. His life might not have hit an alltime low, but it sure felt like it.

Now normally, Thief! would have waited for all the students to be in the safe place before she came to visit them for their awakening, but this sort of pretty much counted as a rush order in a way. Thief! realized that Aphrodite was getting out those awakenings quickly and that was a "no-no" on Thief!'s part because it meant that Thief! was slacking, and Thief! was DEFINITELY no slacker.

This next kid on her list was some weird emo who pretty much took pills everyday because nobody knew when he would do something stupid like attempt to jump off a ten story building. His name was Tobias, something or other... sounds promising. Hey, at least it would make it a little easier for Thief! if the kid was already pretty much depressed, meant he would do almost anything. Even something as crazy as taking on an N-Aspect and joining Thief!'s little league of evil.

It was getting quite dark out as the masked woman slinked through the darkness, perfect for traveling though not very convenient if you didn't have a good sense of vision like Thief! had. As Thief! continued along, she spotted a boy with dark black hair leaning against a chain fence. She pretty much assumed it was him, not because she was a creeper or anything, but because he looked like he fit the description of a dark haired emo kid who seemed to look as if he didn't give a s**t about life. Thief! smirked as she slinked over towards him slowly, hoping to startle him or something... she slowly snuck up behind the chain fence and stood right behind him, "Boo!"

"Boo!"

Tobias's back straightened and his elbow jabbed backwards on instinct before he pulled his scattered wits together and aborted the motion halfway. He turned his head to peer at the idjit who'd snuck up on him, and couldn't help but stare. It was...a masked woman. Her hair was too long to be Seyonne, unless the girl paid for a wig or extensions.

"Do I know you?" He asked, his voice holding hints of curiosity. He turned so that his back was to the chain link fence, fingers poking through the holes. His gaze raked over the woman, eyes straining to make out details as night firmly started to settle in. The only prominent things he could make out was the mask and her figure.

In the distance the couple was slowly progressing from necking, if the feminine giggles were anything to go by, and King's City was slowly turning on the lights for the night. A part of Tobias wanted to ignore the woman, and go back to watching the city light up, killing the dazzling effects of starlight before it even had a chance to fully shine. But another part of him, the one that protested the medication, knew that he should pay attention to her. As always, he listened to the part that hated the mood modifiers.

Thief! couldn't help but burst out laughing as she watched Tobias' reaction to her scare! He almost totally elbowed her, which would have been quite hilarious to see due to the fact that he would just hit the fence behind him if he had done so, probably injuring his arm bad. "Relax kid, i'm here to help ya." Thief! answered when he asked if he knew her from somewhere, "Don't worry, I won't murder you or nothin', just want to talk to you about somethin', an offer shall I say..." Thief! didn't spend too long on the introductions or explaining anything, she felt it was a waste of time and she needed to hurry and get to the next schoolkid before Aphrodite, since it was a race against time with that woman.

"Name's Thief! , though don't worry, i ain't lookin' to steal nothin' from you. Ain't like I would need to anyways, don't look like you have anything of value." Thief! didn't waste time when she went about explaining, "Lemme get right to the point, kay? So, I got this pretty little offer for you. How would you like to join my side and fight the forces of good, huh? There are benefits to it, don't worry. You get healthful and everything, so you will be covered. We got bingo on Fridays too if that livens the offer up a bit." Thief! knew that the kid probably had no idea what she was talking about right now, though it was still pretty funny to look at the expression on his face, "You probably think i'm a psycho straight outta the looniebin, don't ya? Well, I ain't so don't panic or nothin'. So, what do you say?"

Loony was one way to put it, this woman was so far outta her rocker she was halfway across the world! But she had a point, underneath all that psycho babble. Join the dark side, they were different and had cookies. Or so Seyonne often said. In this case, they had medical and friday night bingo. Really, what sort of evil was this woman if she offered Bingo? B6, BINGO! Congrats you've just won this super secret lazer gun guaranteed to stun that pesky do-gooder for sure this time.

But what else did he have to loose? His parents? Dead. Family? Dead for a long time. His sanity? People already thought he didn't have that, with the weekly visits and phone calls and pills. Can't forget those pills. If Tobias was lucky maybe...maybe joining this woman would help him come off as normal, unscarred, and mentally balanced. He was tired of those side looks he got when walking places. Tired of the constant need to be checked up on. He wasn't an invalid, a broken tool, damaged goods. He was himself, bent but not snapped, twisted but not yet tangled. God, what was with him and these metaphors?

"Why not." Tobias said after a moment of silent mulling of words. "It's bound to be more eventful than life in general." He bared a wrist and waved it like it was some sort of offering. "What do I do? Sell my soul, sign a contract in blood? Kidnap a young child and sacrifice them to the old gods?" He better not have to dance a jig or strip and pole dance, because that would get very awkward very fast.

Thief! pondered the situation a little bit, making it seem like she was thinking up a task for him to perform, although she already knew pretty much exactly what he needed to do. She gave a sly smirk to the boy, giving him a once over with her eyes, as if she were examining him for something of interest. After quite a long while of watching him, Thief! finally chuckled as she walked up behind Tobias, wrapping her arm around his shoulder, "Hehe, I like you kid~ gotta sense of humor. Exactly what we need in my little crew of vandals."

Thief! walked out in front of Tobias, nodding her head a bit in approval of him. "Alright, here's the deal kid... all you gotta do is say that you are ready to give up this normal life that you have and that's it. No hidden fees or contracts. Nada. Just gotta agree that this life that you are living now, you're okay with it being completely different from here on out. If you say that, then you'll be a part of the crew. You'll get your magical powers and what not~ sooo kid, what do ya say?"

"I agree to give up this dull monotonous life of mine to join the dark side." Tobias replied, his voice bland, it was clear that he didn't believe that such words were any sort of magical trigger. But he found himself saying it anyway. That was the funny thing about hope, no matter how ridicules the situation, that tiny little light inside always refused to go out and instead just shined a little brighter.

He waited a few seconds, which turned into a few minuets. "So. Now what?" He asked, breaking the short silence that had fallen between them, "Will I expect to suddenly sprout wings and horns and spew slime from my hands and blasphemy from my mouth every time I try to talk to someone?"

Thief! giggled for a moment, "Well, there really isn't anything else super complicated about it. I just needed you to say the words 'cause it's part of precautions, ya know? Just to make sure you really are ready for it..." Thief! realized that the boy seemed to be really eager about it, even though he didn't really show it.

"Now all you need is... a beacon!" Thief! smiled as she hopped around Tobias, "A beacon is pretty much an object or a thing that you would use to summon your powers." Thief! explained as she pranced around him, "Do you have anything particular in mind for your beacon...? If not, I can just pick one out randomly from the bag... like maybe..." Thief! went over to her bag and pulled out a small cage, inside looked like what seemed to be a small fox-cat... creature thing that was on the verge of dying from not being able to breath from inside the bag, "This thing?"

Moving over to peer inside the cage Tobias couldn't help but frown at the half-dead thing. "I'm sure there are laws about keeping animals in bags." He said dryly, taking the cage out of Theif!'s hands and opening it. The hybrid let out a pathetic sound as it was pulled out. It was darkly colored with a white tip on the end of its tail, which looked like a perpetual sign of defeat. Tobias hissed as he felt...something inside of him unlock, some ball of tension that had always existed inside his chest that he'd never been aware of.

The small animals eyes glowed, the blue turning almost electric shade before it faded again. "Yo." It whispered, voice weak. Suddenly the beast looked tired, "Make sure that crazy Lady doesn't put me back in that bag." It shuddered, paws coming up to cover its eyes as it hung from the scruff of its neck. It's tail was tucked between its legs but Tobias had a feeling that it was male and that he should be more startled then he was when it started to speak. But Thief! had been floating on the other side of the fence before she'd landed and he was supposedly a member of the Dark Side now. Stranger things would be happening to him he thought.

"I wont." He replied, eying the beast before setting it down. The fox hybrid flopped over once its paws touched the ground and was no longer being supported by Tobias.

So preoccupied with his newest possession Tobias missed it when Thief! left, and wasn't totally surprised to see her missing when he tried to turn his attention back on her. It was disconcerting how quietly she just appeared and disappeared like that. At his feet Fox just groaned and tried to stand, and Tobias merely leaned down to pick him up. He was no vet but the beast was far too thin to be healthy and the way he was so lethargic was another strike against his...boss. Animals were supposed to be taken care of so they could stay healthy, even Tobias knew that and he'd never owned an animal before!

Taking the limp body inside was easy and his roommates knew by now to leave him alone, even though he was clearly breaking dorm rules by owning something that wasn't a fish. He laid the strange animal down on his bed and took a moment to examine it a little closer. It's body was long and slender and distinctly fox-like, from the body shape to the tail marking, but the face was shorter, more feline. It looked like a domestic breed of feline had mated with a common fox. A Cat-Fox, how strange.

"Urgh, don't just...poke at me." The creature complained, cracking open one blue eye to glower at him. "You're my human self, not some stranger." He struggled to his paws and sat up, tail curled around his legs. "Your 'human self'?" Tobias echoed, frowning, "What do you mean?"
"I mean what I said, I am you. Or rather, a part of you. I am your ticket to unlocking the power inside you, and in order to do so, I had to become a part of you." Tobias remained silent, chewing on that. He didn't like knowing that something had...merged with him somehow to become a key to his lock? It was confusing and Tobias didn't feel like trying to wrap his mind around it.

"Be quiet, you need to eat and rest and get your strength up." He said finally. He would go out in the morning and get some food for it.
