"Mother Goddesses, Father Gods, hear your child's prayers," Kizuka began, sitting up on her back legs and placing her paws on her stomach, "Your servant, Kizuka'nafsi, begs for your guidance and wisdom in her tough time."
Kizuka looked up to the sky, watching the storm clouds approach. They were a light gray color, and indication of light rain. Even with light rain the river generally flood its banks, causing those wanting to cross back and forth to take the natural rock bridge higher up on the mountain. She sighed, speaking her prayer silently, hoping that the gods of the rain and the river would be gentle on them this season and not take from them as many members of the pride as they had last year. Kizuka did not know if she could bear to lose pride members right after her coronation and right before the birth of her children. She was still sore in her heart from losing her mother last year during this season.

A certain black-furred lioness was lurking not too far from the shrine where Kizuka prayed. Maziara approached the other feline slowly, keeping her footfalls deliberately quiet. She had seen the pale lioness many times before, but had never spoken more than a few words to her. As of late, Mazi had decided it was high time to change that - as an Umbikezeli, she felt it her duty to get to know everyone in the pride well, particularly those who held higher titles than she, so she'd been keeping an eye on Kizuka to find a decent time to speak to her. Granted, this was not quite a "decent time" either, but it seemed the white lioness was always busy, so this was the first time that Mazi had seen her alone.
Maziara moved up behind Kizuka, stopping very close to her. "Hello there Kizuka'nafsi," she said softly, a faint smirk playing on her lips. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything? I just wanted to meet with you and get to know you a bit better."

Kizuka jumped slightly at the sudden voice, not having heard any patters of moving paws. She turned to see Maziara, an odd gray and black colored lioness, with errie markings on her paws which always reminded Kizuka of cold lifelessness when she saw them. She was an interestingly odd lioness from what Kizuka had been told, but she had never had an actual conversation of her own with the lioness.
Apparently this was meant to change today.
Kizuka situated herself before Maziara with a soft smile across her face, "Greetings Umbikezeli Maziara. No, you did not interrupt a thing. I was simply finishing some prayers to the gods. How do you fair today?"

Maziara smiled as Kizuka mentioned that she had been praying. She would decide what she would and wouldn't grant the pretty girl after they had spoken. "I am fine, for the most part. I am feeling a little worried, as I have not had any visions as of late. Do you think it means anything, Kizuka?" She tilted her head to one side, her eerie smile never leaving her face. Her eyes rolled upward, gazing momentarily at the sky, but many were never sure just where she might be looking because of her black-on-black sclera and irises. "It looks like it is going to rain. Will someone be leading us up the mountain before the river floods?"

Kizuka's tail flicked back and forth as she listened to Maziara, a small sense of dread sticking in her stomach. She felt very uneasy around this lioness, but she did not let it show; that would be distasteful. Maziara was her sister in this pride and even if she did make her feel uncomfortable she would regard her with nothing but respect.
Kizuka gave off a sigh as Maziara asked her of her problem, "Well, you carry the title Umbikezeli, Maziara. Your visions will come to you when the Gods decide for them to. I sometimes do not have visions for days and than the Gods decide to send me a vision so strong it lasts for hours. Or I'll have small visions several times a day for days. It is all the will of the Gods, Umbikezeli Maziara."
Kizuka nodded to Maziara's comment about the rains, "Yes. The females guards will be ushering the children and women up to the higher mountain dens as soon as the first droplets fall from the sky. The men will be rotating in shifts to watch the entrances to our pride's lands to make sure no one dares try to enter during the time of the floods."

Maziara watched the lioness before her with the same sinister smile. Her long tail swayed back and forth behind her, slowly kicking up dirt and scattering small pebbles here and there. "Good, good," she responded, flicking an ear idly. She glanced down at her paws, examining her claws as she flexed them in an out of her toes. "It may be wise to start moving the pride now - what will you do if it suddenly begins to pour down? How will you protect the young and the old if a huge torrent comes along?" She quirked a brow at the white lioness, smiling callously.
