Hekima was roaming the Rogue Lands again today. With the birth of is niece, Kipofu, and his nephew, Sungura, the infertile leopon needed some time away from his family. It wasn't that he wasn't happy for his sister, Taswira, and her mate, Set. It was simply that looking upon the miracles he could never have hurt him, though he would never admit it to them.
"Why do things have to be so complicated?" He muttered to himself, finding a soft patch of dirt near a tree and flopping down onto it with the intents of rolling around in it.
Dirt baths were one of Hekima's simple pleasures in life. He couldn't quite put into words exactly why he loved it so very much, but he did and it felt great. He rolled himself over onto the dirt and started shimmying in it, his back and butt rubbing against the dirt and creating little dust clouds.
"Feels great," He purred.

For once in her life, Tiegan was out on her own with her family snugged up at the tree den. It was weird being at home now that her eldest siblings had grown to adulthood. How come her sisters didn't look like momma? They were skinny and slender, where momma was more muscular. How weird!
She flipped her little tipped tail into the air and set her sea green eyes on simpler pastures. The Juvi bounded and bounced, flipped and rolled her way to a place she had never been before. Tiegan blinked and coughed, lowering her head against the dirt storm. She padded further inward, and saw the problem. Ignoring the clouds that itched her eyes, she got closer and looked down at the golden....male thing. "Wassa matta, mister? Gotta scratch?"

Hekima was not startled by Tiegan's presence like most lone felines may be. He was used to young ones, and older ones randomly showing up out of nowhere inquiring about his where abouts, or his ongoings. It was a normal occurrence when you were in a pride, and because of this is didn't bother him much out in the rogue lands.
"Yes and no," Hekima said, starring up at the little...What exactly was she? She was definitely part lion, but he did not know the other part. She was a hybrid however, and this simply tickled his fancy in a way. The only other hybrids he ever met were his siblings and the other leopons within the pride. This was new.
"I like dirt baths," Hekima explained, looking over the girl before him. She was young and naturally colored, unlike himself, so she probably hid herself well when need be. What caught his attention the most were her eyes. They were gorgeous; a bright, piercing teal. It was a color he had only ever seen once more, and in passing.
"Have you ever taken a dirt bath?"

Tiegan watched him curiously, smiling when he looked up at her. She stood straight and tall, until alot of youngsters her age, though she still radiated the same amount of energy. Through her visions she had seen so many things, but he wasn't one of them. It was an exciting surprise. He looked kind of like her Uncle Mufasa, but then, he looked more cuddly.
"Nope, but Tiegan wants to try." She flopped ungracefully onto her side and rolled onto her bath, an explosion of dust clouds mostly covering her petite form. The cheeton sneezed, then shook it out with a motor boat sound and started wriggling like he had done. Instantly she started giggling. "Tiegan feels like a snake! Hisssss, hiisssssss~" She stuck her tongue out at him and flicked it.

Hekima laughed as Tiegan flopped down next to him and rolled with him in the dust bath. She was absolutely adorable to him. He hadn't seen anyone so carefree and adventurous since he was a cub growing up with his siblings. It gave him a very warm feeling to watch her.
"Tiegan is a snake?" Hekima asked, sticking out his tongue and trying to flick it back and forth as she did. he wasn't quite so apt at doing it as she was, but he was surely trying.
"My name's Hekima," He said, blowing some of the dust cloud out of his face, "Does Tiegan have family?"

Tiegan's little body burst out in laughter, causing her to roll for a different reason. How funny! She felt giddy after discovering that adults could be something other than mommy or daddy. "Hiiisssss~" Her little pink tongue waggled out intune with his.
She rolled over excitedly, wiping saliva off her mouth with the back of her paw. "Hi Hekima-ma-ma." Her spine wriggled int the dirt until she was half-cocked at an odd angle, paws stretched out in the air. "She sure does! Tiegan has a big family. Tiegan's got mommy, daddy, and ....." Her eyebrows furrowed. How many....? "...more than thirteen siblings, she knows. She just stopped counting. Daddy brings home alot."
"What about your family?"

"That is a lot of siblings for Tiegan," Hekima said, feeling an odd connection to the little lion hybrid. Hekima had about just as many siblings, and he was the oldest of them all. She was far luckier though, having both her parents with her. Hekima sometimes wondered if he'd ever see his father again, but he had more pressing concerns, like his new niece and nephew.
"I have a big family too," Hekima said, scratching behind his ear with a paw, "Probably as many siblings as Tiegan has. But not all of them live with me in our pride. Some live with their daddies who are in other prides."
Hekima stretched, giving one last wiggle to scratch at an itch on his lower back and flopped over onto his side, the dust cloud dissipating from his escapades, "I'm the oldest of all of them."

"You do?" Tiegan looked up at him in awe. "Tiegan's got them too! The missin' brothers and sisters. She sees them in her dreams. They all look like daddy, but not mommy." The little cheeton bounced up onto her paws and swatted at his mane. "Tiegan doesn't like those dreams, though. Their scary."
Her visions showed those who shared the same blood as her, both past and future, depending on how close she was. Sometimes, she saw scary things and it woke her up at night screaming.
She bounced out of the way so he could flop back, immediately jumping onto his chest to play with his mane. It was the most beautiful thing she'd ever seen, and singularly the coolest. "The oldest? But your not grumpy."

"Why are Tiegan's dreams scary?" Hekima asked, wondering why a young cub such as herself would have terrible nightmares about her siblings. In fact he wondered how Tiegan knew all her missing siblings. Hekima only knew the ones whom his mother had brought home. He knew where his other siblings were taken by their father's, but never got the chance to meet them.
Hekima chuckled a little at the comment about him having to be grumpy because he was the oldest. He let the little cub play with his mane and smiled, "I can be grumpy sometimes, but only if I don't get my nap. Naps are my favorite part of the day. Not all oldest siblings are grumpy though. My sister is much grumpier than I am, and she's younger than me."

"Because they are," She answered simply. Tiegan fluffed up a piece of his mane into a little cone, then blew it out with a smile. "Mommy says Tiegan can see the fuuutttuuuurrrreeeee~" Dramatically, she leaned back on her hindlegs and waved her forepaws around in big circles. It wasn't exactly how her mother had said it, but the juvi liked this version much better.
That being said, she wasn't a fan of sleep and promptly said, "Your weird! Nappys are for itty bitty cubbies." She tilted her head to the side, mouth slightly agape. "Really? Tiegan wants a little sister, but all she gots is brothers." The cheeton pouted. Being the youngest of her own litter meant she'd been the baby long before her father brought in his latest batch.
"Where's Hekima's family now?"

Hekima couldn't help but stifle a laugh at the girl's explanation, though he knew how serious having Seer powers were. He could only imagine how hard it was for Tiegan to cope with her visions, especially if they were what caused her the nightmares.
Hekima smiled and poked a paw at Tiegan's chest gently, "Naps can be for big cats too. Especially when their jobs are very tiring."
"I'm sure Tiegan will get a baby sister some day. Tiegan will just have to be patient," Hekima said. Tiegan was too cute to him. He hadn't seen anything so happy and bouncy for a long time, especially where he lived and the circumstances of who lived there.
"My family is in their pride right now. I'm out wandering around because I like to meet new people." He told Tiegan.

Tiegan stuck her tongue out before diving at his paw, nom nom nomming it until he pulled back because she was just that tough. "What kind of job?.....Whats a job? And - and whats a pride? Is it some kind of tree, cuz then Tiegan's family would live in a pride." She nodded expertly.
Even in her scary dreams, she'd never seen a pride, so she wasn't sure what it was, but she was definately eager to learn.

Hekima let out a fake wounded cry and pulled his paw back from Tiegan and licked at it like she had wounded him. He loved indulging children's games, especially the battle and pouncing ones. He felt it instilled some confidence in them when they were young if they could have some minor wins over adults.
Once Hekima finished faking his wounded paw, he tapped it to his muzzle thoughtfully at her questions. "A pride is a big area of land, where many families live, who all believe in the same thing that the pride stands for," Hekima began, "The pride I live in is a Pride who believes that there are bad lions in the world that call themselves Demons. They do a lot of bad things, and we're there to keep them from doing those bad things, like steal people's brothers. They're very scary, and very mean."
Hekima hated talking about jobs and work. It was the one thing he didn't really like doing, as he was a total lazy-face, but he did his part because if he didn't than terrible things would happen to his family and he would be responsible for not being there to help them.
"A job is a thing you have to do. Like your mommy's job is to bring back food to you so you can eat. My job is to battle the evil demons and keep them from harming people. I'm called a Shujaa, or a Warrior," Hekima explained.

The little juvi giggled at the adult, even as she sat up taller with pride. Tiegan was tougher than a big one! Wait until her father heard about this. And with her mouth, he wouldn't hear it just once.
She tilted her head to the side, ponderingly. "Like a territory? Tiegan knows what that is, but why so many families in one spot? Isn't there enough homes for everybody?" To her, it sounded awfully crowded. She snubbed her nose at the idea of having to share anymore space. The tree den was full enough as it was! "Demons?" She repeated curiously. Now this she liked. "Their like Tiegan's scary dreams, right? Bad people, 'specially if they stoled jer brover!" She huffed, nodding her head.
"Ooooh, oooh, Tiegan knows what a warrior is, she does! Poppa tells stories 'bout them, protecting places and saving princess'. But....they get hurt." She frowned, looking at him with concern. "Do you get hurt?"

Hekima smiled and chuckled a bit, "Well you see Tiegan, are spot is really big. So all the families living there have plenty of space, and we all work together to keep the kids safe, and each other safe too."
Hekima nodded. The demons were indeed bad people. They broke up families, and hurt others. Their beliefs were crazy as well, but Hekima wouldn't touch on that subject. There were crazier beliefs out there that he had heard of, some involving ritualistic sacrifices. It was barbaric to think of. Life should never be taken if it can be helped, and those situations could be helped.
He nodded to Tiegan quietly, "I get hurt sometimes, it's true. But it's the risk I take in order to protect the people I care about. Wouldn't you want to protect the people you care about even if it meant you got hurt?"
