With warm lighting and a friendly wait staff, Marcella's is a popular dining establishment with families visiting the village.

"It's been quite a while since we've been here, all together." Harry murmured to himself, one hand on each of his children's shoulders to herd them forward.

"And the last time we were here, Godfrey threw up on the waitress." Adela said, catching her father's words and throwing a teasing look at her brother.

Godfrey shrugged Harry's hand off of his shoulder and stuck his tongue out at his sister, but refrained from commenting, only straightening his clothes.

Still, he rather hoped that waitress was no longer working here.

"Now, now, Adela; taunting is best done with tact," Gilderoy admonished loftily, sliding an arm around his daughter's shoulders, inadvertently brushing Harry's hand away.

Harry sighed internally, falling a half-step behind the others at Godfrey's cold shoulder and Gilderoy's intrusion so that he could close his eyes for a few moments and pray to whatever Gods were out there for a nice, peaceful dinner with no arguing children or huge public scenes.

Oddly enough, Harry felt rather cheerful and optimistic today.

"Gilderoy." Harry said with a smile, looking over Gilderoy's shoulder to try to get a count on how many people were in the restaurant. "You said you made reservations?"

"Yes, Father." Adela responded primly, hardly even having to resist the urge to stick her tongue back out at her brother. She certainly wasn't so childish as him.

Adela rolled her eyes as her brother silently mimicked her words with a dopey look on his face.

Gilderoy paused to fix Harry with a elegantly annoyed look; only he could manage putting so much wealth and power in a frown of irritation. "Really, you make it sound like I forget these sorts of things."

Sweeps ahead of his family and inclines his face, speaking swiftly to the management as he slides a large gold coin across the admittance desk.

Harry watched Gilderoy with a pleasantly patient look on his face as he swept away.

Somehow he managed to swallow down a chuckle at the glint of the coin, and herded the teenagers forward again- mostly out of habit, or they'd be likely to linger and get into some sort of mischief.

"Be good tonight, for your Father's sake if nothing else, would you?" Harry said to them, giving each of their shoulder's a squeeze before catching them up with Gilderoy.

"Ah, I suspect everything's in order then?" He said. Mainly he was worried about being recognized by a fan or asked for an autograph. Both were likely to put Gilderoy off. Harry stepped forward between the twins and came up beside Gilderoy, slipping his hand into the other's palm. Optimistic, he felt very optimistic.

"Of course," Gilderoy crooned, though there was a hint of cool mist in his tone as he viewed the man that he had impregnated twice. Occasionally his mind summoned the word 'wife' but he had only used it verbally twice, and neither time had he received a warm response. Yet 'husband' seemed to give Harry too much independent power. And being independent was a dangerous position for his lover. Clearly.

"We've a table just over here."

"Okay" Godfrey said quietly to Harry, feeling a heavy guilt creep up on him at Harry's words, though he hadn't exactly meant them in that way. The moment they had left the house Godfrey had suddenly felt rather defensive. Harry's hand on his shoulder had seemed like an affront of some sort, although he hadn't been able to place why the touch bothered him so much. Really, he had been just fine before they left, as if nothing over the years had really happened and they were just going out to dinner as usual. But once they had approached the restaurant Godfrey felt himself becoming a mix of titchy and ornery, as well as fidgety and over-excited, and there was somewhat of a sting behind his eyes that made him have to forcefully blink.

He really just wanted to have a nice, happy dinner as well, be a regular family just like everyone else here, but he couldn't quite manage to be as optimistic as Harry. Watching his parents together made him feel happier, although he missed his little brother and wished Xeno was here as well.

"I call the seat across from Father." Adela said without a hint of taunt in her voice, though she really didn't prefer whom she sat next to or across from, she only wished to bother Godfrey.

Really, he often acted so strangely, surely if she goaded him a little here and there he'd finally open up about whatever it was that was bothering him. Shouting and goading were common communication devices in their family anyway.

"I was going to call the seat across from Dad anyways." Godfrey said, stopping between the two chairs on one side of the table and pulling out the chair for his sister, a grin crawling its way across his face. He sat himself down after she was seated, taking his napkin from the table and putting it on his lap.

"Dad, can we have some wine with dinner?" He asked, looking around subtly at the other people in the restaurant, but not immediately spotting anyone he knew.

"No," Gilderoy interjected swiftly as he took his seat beside Godfrey with only minimal flourish; he drew his napkin from the table and sprawled it delicately across his lap as well. "Your father is silly enough after wine - I'll need your help to corral him."

"I don't intend to have any wine, Gilderoy." Harry said, pulling out his chair and taking a seat. The comment stung and was a rather low blow, but he did his best to ignore it, even though he was starting to wonder why Gilderoy wanted them to go out if he was only going to be like this.

There were times when doing things with Gilderoy felt like the old days, back in the beginning, and then there were times like this, which often left someone hurt and crying at the end of the night.

Keep optimistic! Harry picked up his own napkin from the table and spread it across his own lap, momentarily occupying himself with straightening all the wrinkles.

"Most foods don't need to be paired with wine anyways, Godfrey." Harry said, smoothing out the final wrinkle from the cloth napkin.
