Introduction
A clear dark blue sky with dozens of twinkling stars sewn in to it winked down at me as I gazed with wonder up at it through the window of the hospital waiting room.I could hear the respsonist typing on the computer at the desk, and I turned to look at her.She looked to be a young 20-year-old women with short curly black hair, and deep brown eyes framed by white rimmed glasses, which lay perched at the end of her nose, making her look like a libriain. She wore the usual nurse uniform,a simple white coat with several pockets to hold different medical intermants in them.I sighed as I sat down on the hard blue plastic chair,my right foot twitching as I waited there. The clock over the doorway leading down a long hallway where the hospital rooms were build read 11:30pm,and I yawned widely, rubbing my small eyes with the back of my hand.My small dog,Blossom, lay next to me,sleeping lightly. Her fur was a deep brown, her eyes a chocolate brown. It was really late, but other sick or wounded people sat around me,waiting to see a doctor to check their wounds or see what their sickness was.Only a few people who sat in the waiting room were wounded, ranging from a badly cut hand to some of their fingers being completely off.Mostly the waiting room was filled by a large family, here for a women who apprently had given birth. An older couple sat together surrounded by several other young couples, all of them whispering excitly about the baby or babies the women was having, while their children played in the small part of the waiting room built to enterain the children when they were here.I had no interest in the playrooms infior toys, they would just easily bore me as soon as I started playing with them.I had nothing else to do,I had left my writing journal at home in our rush to get my mother's suitcase in the car,and get all of us dressed.Like the large family,I was waiting, alone, for my mother to give birth to my baby brother or sister. My father was allowed to stay in the room with her,and I was asked to be babysat by the nurse at the desk.
My name's Gina Kyoko, and I'm only 2-years-old,yet I am a very upsurvent child. My hair's a bright blond, and my eyes are a sparkling silver, which I inherited from my grandmother on my father's side.I'm quite smart, and already I have begun to write stories with large words I had learned from the dictionary.Sometimes I read the dictionary for fun,or to find good words to use for helping prove a point in my stories. My parents were quite amazed when I started talking and walking at only the age of 3 months, but that meant I was to be quite clever and that I would probably grow to be a top scienctist or something like that.I sighed again, this time with both boredom and lonliness. My grandparents on my dads side had passed away from cancer when my mother had only been 3 months pregnant with me,and neither of my parents had any brothers or sisters. All their friends had moved far away, and any aunts or uncles they had never called or sent any mail,no contact at all.
I had no idea of when I feel asleep, but the next thing I knew I was being reawakened by a large, soft hand softly stroking my face, brushing my blond bangs out of my eyes as a soft male voice whispered,"Gina sweetheart, come on baby, wake up,come and meet your little sister."I sighed, and my eyes slowly fluttered open as my father picked me up and carried me out of the waiting room.We walked down a long white hallway, doctors and patients walking past us.Finally my dad stopped outside a white door with the number 1122 on it,and he softly opened it.Inside the large room,my mother lay in a single bed, facing a small television set.On the wall opposite the door was a large window, the curtains draw.My mom smiled at me tiredly as my dad set me down next to her,and she pulled me closer. In her right arm sat a small pink bundle, and I caned my neck to look inside.Small golden eyes stared back at me,surrouded by a large poof of black hair that seemed to frame the small childs' face, making her white skin glow with a darker tint.A small hand reached out of the blanket towards me, small fingers flexing slightly.Blossom put her head on my mother's leg and watched, her large brown eyes wide with silent wonder, and happiness as I reached my index finger out and felt small fingers close around it,squeezing slightly.
My father sat on the other side of my mom as he whispered,"Gina, would you like to name her, sweetheart?"
Not taking my eyes off the small childs' face,I nodded and whispered back,"Kin?"
"Hm,Kin,that's perfect.Gold,it goes perfect with her eyes.Good thinking Gina,it's kinda like your name, means silver, like your eyes."My mother chuckled softly as she softly kissed Kin's forehead, making the baby fidget.Kin just looked at me still and her small pink lips parted in a wide smile, showing off her toothless gums."Awwww!"My parents cooed and I giggled.
"I love you Kin,and I promise,I will protect and take care of you for as long as you need me,no matter what."I whispered softly to her, softly kissing her cheek, and laying back against my mom's shoulder. All five of us lasped in to a comforting silence, just enjoying one another's company.
