Ment = Red
Hadaya = Tan

The waiting game. It was one of Peremende'Ment's least favorite games, but was a crucial part of the gaming process. Hiding quietly behind a rock he waited for the perfect target, someone whom he could easily initiate a game with without them even realizing it was on. One of three outcomes would occur with this tactic: 1, he'd get his desired response and the game was one. 2, they'd call him a kook and walk off ignoring him, or 3, he'd probably get the crap beaten out of him again. He hoped it was 3.

Ment gave a quiet yawn, and brustled a little as lying in wait for so long caused a degree os muscle cramps. He often wondered if it was the same pain lionesses felt when they had cubs in their belly, but he never bothered asking. They were always touchy about the subject.

He watched another go by, it was a young lion, far too young for his rough and tumble game of tag. Hopefully a suitable partner would emerge soon, he was starting to get a little tired.

Hadaya was in an interesting place. Most of his, rather accidental. cubs were no longer cubs, and he was watching them as they grew away from him. They were nearly adults now, older than he was when he first came to this pride. His first son was fully grown, and he wondered about the daughter Lee took with her to the Amazon pride. Was she okay? Did she look more like her mother now? He still had a few younger cubs in his den, but everything was still changing.

What would happen when his cubs had cubs? He would be a grandfather, that’s what.

The idea made him shake his head.

Padding along, oblivious to plotted games of tag, he tried to find something to distract himself with. Something simple and calm, he hoped. But, of course, with Hadaya nothing ever went as planned.

Ment's vigilant wait had paid off for once, as wandering past the rock he hid behind was an adult male, clearly lost in thought. The perfect target in Ment's eyes. The adult males distracted gaze would give way to confussion when Ment sprang after him, and therefore give Ment a lead in the game that the male didn't even know he was playing. Or at least that was how Ment had played it out in his mind, than again, his mind liked to be wrong a lot fo the time.

A quick shuffle of his hind quarters and he was off with a sprint, darting towards the distracted male as fast as his legs could possibly take him. He hadn't been that far from Ment, so he was able to attain top speed without tiring too quickly. The nature beneath his paws rustled with noise as he closed in, and with a quick paw whapped the male on his thigh.

"TAG!" He yelled, hauling a** past him at least a hundred feet, and looking back to see if the male was going to give chase automatically, or sit there dazed and confused.

Hadaya was blindsided in more ways than one.

He hadn’t seen his foe coming, if that was what it was, and he certainly didn’t expect what the other was going to do. With a yelp much too girly for Hadaya’s liking, he bounced nearly a foot in the air when he felt a paw on his back leg, hitting him without any menace but still making him panic.

Spinning around, he bristled at the sight of another lion. And then, almost immediately, was completely confused by him.

Tag?

“Hey! Wait a minute!” Hadaya yelped helplessly, giving chase on instinct. He played tag with his kids all the time, but he hadn’t expected to be dragged into a game all of a sudden. Feeling compelled, he beat his paws against the earth, running as fast as they could take him. At least he was good at running: that was one thing he had always known how to do. “Come back!”

"There is no coming back! Only going forward!" Ment exclaimed joyously. The prey had taken the bait in his mind, and the game was now on.

Ment scampered back to a running pace as he saw the male gaining ground on him quickly. He was fast, Ment gave him that much, he might actually get tagged back this time, like that yellow lioness had done to him. The pads of his feet hit the earth hard as he ran, there were pebbles in the ground, and he knew by the end of this his feet were gonna be sore. At least they would be sore from something fun, and not running for his little white life.

Ment looked behind him quickly, only to see Hadaya having gained more ground on him as he had been emmersed in thought. He decided to take a quick left to try and shake him, or get him to loose footing and fumble. It was a strategy that always seemed to work for him.

Hadaya charged after him, used to the terrain around these parts at least. He didn’t want to get caught up on a rock of bush and embarrass himself by falling over. He was prone to such things, and he was trying to keep his eye out for them now. Just in case.

And then the lion changed direction suddenly.

Hadaya, lacking the finesse of a true hunter, as he called them, kept on running. He failed in the reaction time department, and as a result it took him longer than it should have to start turning. And then he slammed right into a tree, which at least slowed him down considerably.

Completely.

Flopping over to his side, panting, he put his hand over his now very sore nose, huffing indignantly. It felt like he had broken his face, though he was sure it was all still in one piece. Probably. Hopefully.

Ment stopped as he heard the sounds of someone violently crashing into things, as he knew that sound all too well. He himself had crashed into things before by accident and it was never an ordeal that didn't come with a considerable amount of pain. He turned, seeing the male lion on the ground and clutching his nose, as well as the assailant tree. That did not look good in the least,

He turned and quickly made his way back to the male who laid on the ground, feeling a twang of guilt at the fact his harmless game just maimed someone with a tree, he lowered his face to the male, his ears back remorsefully, "Are you ok?"

Hadaya huffed though his nose, though he was making more of a scene than was warranted. He hadn’t hurt himself too badly, and his nose was in near perfect condition. No blood, despite how hard it felt like he had hit the tree. Perhaps he had gotten the better part of that encounter. Though, the bark showed no evidence of the ordeal, either.

“I’m okay,” he said, moving his paw from his face and looking up to see the other male rather close. So close, in fact, he bumped noses with him with getting up. Jerking back, he huffed again, for a new reason, looking at the other male in surprise.

“Uh… tag?” he grinned, his expression goofy, a mix of feigned confidence that he had done that on purpose and the more honest look of surprise and anxiety. It wasn’t every day that he was dragged into an impromptu game of tag, and he wasn’t sure he was playing it right.

Ment blinked. This was slightly alarming to say the least. He was tagged, accidentally, in the nose by the other male as he had come to check whether or not Hadaya had been hurt.

Ment shook his head slightly as Hadaya sat there contemplating on whether or not he was playing the game right. Reaching out a paw quickly he attempted to tag Hadaya back before he attempted to take off. This was going to be a interesting game of tag for the both of them, it seemed.

"No, tag, you!" He retorted.

And he was off.

Hadaya had only just recovered from the last encounter when Ment was off and running. Looking dismayed, but his eyes flashing with amusement, the tan lion leaped to his feet and took off after the other. This was fun, even if they were acting like giant cubs.

Maybe everyone needed to do that every now and again. It reminded Hadaya that things weren't as bad as he let them feel. He could still have fun, no matter what. And he didn't even feel bad about it! About bumping noses, yes, but not about actually playing tag.

He quickly found, however, that he wasn't as in shape as he used to be. He was puffed out before too long, and came to a stop to catch his breath. He was a fast runner, yes, but he would have to work on his stamina again.

"Okay!" he yelled, puffing, "you win!"

Ment couldn't help but laugh as Hadaya declared him the winner of their game and skidded to a halt, causing debris to spray in front of him. He figured that other adults like him were not used to such activity, since most adults actually grew up and settled down, unlike himself. He turned and trotted back to Hadaya, who was attempting to catch his breath and gave the male a smile.

"Good game, man. Haven't had someone interested in actually playing tag with me in some time," He said, a nice big goofy grin across his face, "I'm Ment. What's your name?"

Ment could feel himself starting to get tired. He usually had pretty good stamina when he was playing, but once the excitement of the activity began to die down, so did his ability to keep that consistent energy. He was still a pretty young lion, only going on three years old, so anything less than energy would have probably indicated bad things.

"Hadaya," the yellow-brown lion said, smiling sheepishly. He had a silly hang up of saying his own name. Not that he wouldn't say it, or had any problem doing so, just that it always sounded so strange to his ears when it was said in his own voice. Like he might be pronouncing it wrong.

But of course, he wasn't.

"That was fun, actually, but not something I'm used to doing. I think I... uhm... ran out of steam." He laughed, catching his breath, at least.

And then he didn't know what to say, looking awkward and flicking his tail behind him. He wasn't annoyed, nor did he find himself compelled to end the conversation, he was just really bad at continuing them. He cleared his throat, sighing.

"So... you were just waiting for someone to come along and play tag with?"
