Ment = Red
Phye'li = Brown

Today had seemed the perfect day for the aging lioness to stretch her legs. Yes, she was aware that she wasn't so terribly old...but somedays she felt it. The bumps and bruises, the aches and pains, and the strain that both her litters had put on her had begun to tell...not outwardly, but in the motions that had used to be effortless. Now they came with twinges...darn things.

Loping along she was doing her best to work those out, finding the feel of the dirt beneath her paws utterly invigorating. A light breeze stirred her fur, and she took a deep inhale, reveling in the simple pleasure of being alive and enjoying the world. Life...hadn't been so cruel as all that...to have loved and lost, to have had a family at all...well that was much better than to have never experienced any of those things. Such was her staunch belief, and it was with that in mind, that she laughed girlishly, and flopped onto the ground, paws in the air. Ah, that felt good.

Peremende'Ment had begun to explore the territory he was soon going to be calling home. Having given his offering to the head honchos and been accepted, he awaited for when they would call on him again, and during this peace and security he became inquisitive.

Ment had been passing by when he saw her. Phye'li looked really good from afar, and wasn't one to simply pass up the chance to talk to a pretty lady. He decided to attempt to be suave once more, even though it never really paid off for him and he failed badly at it, and sauntered his way to where Phy laid and extended his head over her. She looked a little more worn when he got close, but that was alright, experienced ladies were always good too.

"Hello there. Such a pretty face has to have a pretty name accompanied by it, so what might it be?" He asked, with a cheesey grin on his face. He was a little rigid, mostly because he was sure he was gonna get whacked at some point.

Clambering slowly to her feet, not at all seeming embarrassed that he'd caught her frolicking, she smiled warmly at the newcomer. Ah children, they were so very forward these days. However, she took the compliment for what it was, and chuckled in a friendly, amused fashion. "Hello...I am called Phye'li...and I make my home near here. Who might you be, adventurous sir?"

Even if they deserved the smackings, Phy had never been one to give them unless such was absolutely necessary. This fellow meant well, even if he was terribly forward...cute, but rather inept at the craft he was attempting. It was, to the brown lioness, wondrously adorable.

"My mother named me Peremende'Ment, though Ment is alright. I'm usually only conversing with passerbys, so Ment is easier to remember if they see me again," He said, tail flicking back and forth in a happy manner. She sounded really proper to him, making him gather she probably had a much better upbringing than himself. He wasn't really taught a lick of mannerisms.

"I'm...," He struggled slightly with his words, as after living his whole life in the Rogue Lands alone and with no real companions, he was finally in a pride where he would have all those things; it was all a little more than he could comprehend at once.

"I'm going to be making my home near here as well. Which is wonderful for me, because now I won't have to worry about hyenas coming after me in my sleep," He chuckled. The cheesey attempts at charm had worn off, and were replaced with a nervousness he didn't normally have, mostly because the way he lived previously didn't matter if he was forthwright or not, he would probably never see whoever it was he was conversing with again. Now it was different, and he wanted to make a good impression this time.

"You've had trouble with hyenas?" She inquired, tilting her head to one side. She somehow couldn't imagine hyenas trying to go after such a vibrant young lion, it would be stupidity, really, unless he was just THAT inept at defending himself. "Well you certainly won't here, we keep a pleasant, safe little community." Which was why she felt so deliciously at home here...where she'd been able to raise a child, as well as watch some of her great-grandchildren grow up. Ah gods, time moved so fast.

"But it is a grand pleasure to meet you, Peremende'Ment..." Glancing over one shoulder, she wrinkled her nose thoughtfully. "Would you like me to show you around? If you wish to live here then it would do you no harm to get familiar with the place, though I'm sure you'll make a slew of friends who would gladly show a strapping male like you the lands..." She could only imagine what his first experiences with the other females in the pride would be like. Perhaps she'd get to watch a few of them, she so enjoyed the cavorting of youngsters after all...and to her, Ment was indeed a youngling still.

Ment chuckled a bit and scratched at his ear with a paw, "I'd be very greatful if you did. I've only been here a couple of days and I'm still getting used to the enviorment and surroundings."

Ment went a little red in the face when she called hmi a 'strapping male'. He understood it was a meant to be a compliments, but at the same time he has never been called 'strapping'. It was just a term he had never really heard used before.

"Are there a lot of younger felines in this pride? I've seen a slew of children, but not a lot of younger adults."

"Certainly....come this way with me..." Gesturing, she seemed utterly content with her role as a guide. The life and growth of this particular pride had made her feel had home after years of roaming...it was much like being a mother all over again, but this time with far more children at her paws to teach and train.

"Well, you see...the pride has plenty, the youngsters are just encouraged to go on a 'seeking' at adolescence...sort of a way for them to find themselves and a rite of passage into adulthood, that's all. Some come back to the pride, and others settle in a new way of life outside it. But then, new members wash up to us all the time...it's much like the rise and fall of the ocean, if you think about it. " And with that particular body of water in mind, she headed through the grasses...on towards the beach. The lull of the waves was also a grand part of why she was enraptured by this place.
