Other: Though she does, obviously, exist, Petite Symphony does not believe she does and interacts with individuals as though she were a figment of their imaginations. Because she comes from a different dimension, she is quite open-minded and eager to learn of people and their lives. Petite rarely understands when someone is actively trying to be cruel to her, and takes everything as a joke or game. She isn’t stupid, though, and will defend herself to the best of her ability. Petite also has no concept of aging or death and believes it is an epidemic that can be cured.
Known Powers/Abilities: Petite herself is faster and stronger than the average human, as Nowhere has a heavier gravity. She is also quite intelligent, picking up on most information almost immediately. From her world, she was given two devices; a pocket watch, which allows her to move through time without being affected by it (she doesn’t age or grow fatigued), and a compass that allows her to travel between her own dimension and whichever dimension she happens to be in at the time. She has also been trained in fencing.
Limitations: While Petite will not age, she is not truly immortal. In fact, other than superhuman physique, she’s completely human. While she does not fatigue, she still needs to eat and drink water. As a result of using her watch and compass, she is epileptic, which can become quite bothersome, as you can imagine. Why they cause epilepsy is unknown. Petite is very, very gullible regarding new information, and has difficulty discerning a game from actual danger.
Brief History: Petite found one morning that she suddenly was. Where she came from, it was like purgatory. Nothing happened, no one did anything. It was oblivion, but peaceful, and as you can imagine, Petite was bored. Doing what few from Nowhere rarely do, Petite decided to leave. She came into existence, but knew nothing.
It was Theo, a wandering doctor, who first discovered Petite. He taught her how to speak, read, write, and anything that she would need to function. She began to travel with him, hoping to learn why she did (or didn’t) exist, and what purpose each being served. In their travelling, Petite came to be fascinated with plants. She even discovered healing qualities within certain herbs, and deadly poisons in others. It was when Petite and Theo came upon a hidden town deep in an uncharted forest that Theo informed Petite of his terminal illness, which he called aging. At the time, Petite had no concept of death and thought little of the matter. For eleven years, the pair travelled, explored, and learned.
Petite and Theo did, eventually, find refuge. Shortly after acquiring the Capella, the two discovered a floating island. How, why, or when the island got there was a mystery, but it was safe and hidden. Theo, who was now preoccupied with studying astronomy, convinced Petite to find the supplies to build an observatory. As Theo aged, he began grow senile and somewhat eccentric. Petite became worried about his deteriorating state and pursued a cure for Theo’s aging, not understanding what it meant.
Notes: While not at Astronomer’s Island, Petite sends a mechanical bird back and forth between the Capella and Theo to inform him of her progress. Her extensive knowledge of herbs and plants makes her an excellent chef, natural doctor, and potential assassin.
