Swift paws dug lightly into the ground until his nose hit warmth - immediately jaws snapped, and the striped wolf had managed to catch a small gopher. Pulling it into the soft grass nearby he began to eat, ears perked to the sounds.
The small wolf seemed quite slight, in the sleek coat of his short fur it was easier to see his frame. He could be a large wolf, enough to throw his weight around... But it seemed he lived off of hunting small things, having no pack at all. From the way he guarded and loomed over his food it was obvious he was used to having it taken away from him.

Ravia plodded through the grass, feet aching, eyes tired, body weary. She felt as though she had been travelling for years - and she almost had been. The journey north had taken a lot out of her but her sheer determination to get to her goal pushed her onwards.
That, and a spark of hope.
Although the pied female looked like she had been short of a few meals, she was still relatively well muscled, wiry. She had never shirked a days duty before her journey and it showed in the fact that she was even still alive, despite her travel across the desert.
Thus, despite her tiredness, she spied the male as soon as she came near him. It wasn't as though it was hard to do, though - he was blue, afterall.
"Hallu?" she barked, her voice crusty, but attempting a friendly tone.

The small creature was nothing more than a few bits of fur and bones when the female approached. Kalinde's ears laid back as he turned, watching the other wolf for a few moments.
She spoke with an accent he didn't know... But she hadn't attacked him yet. His tail tucked lightly as he shifted a bit, tense and ready to run should she prove to be much meaner than she looked.
"Hello?" He asked, softly, unsure how to interact with her yet.

In her tiredness, her accent came through thicker than otherwise, and she internally sighed at her inability to pronounce most of their words correctly unless she spoke rather slowly. Their slippery language had taken her a good deal of time to learn, more so because she had no constant tutor and had to pick it up piecemeal as she travelled.
Her pale blue eyes studied the wolf in front of her for a moment. Male, but in a cringing submissive posture? Perhaps the thrall of some pack nearby. She was almost always travelling through someone's territory, she just hoped that it wasn't going to be a pack which did not allow others to at least pass through. Some such packs had lengthened her travels quite a good bit just by forcing her around boundaries.
"Hello" Ravia tried again, trying to force herself to get the words of the strange language sounding right. "Is there a pack in this land? Do I need to ask..." she paused for a moment, trying to remember the word "... permission" that was it, right? "to travel through these lands?"

It wasn't that the accent bothered him... Kalinde had met few wolves, at least those who tried to speak to him. This one, at least, didn't seem to want to harm him.
Keeping his posture however, he hoped to keep it that way. "Pack? ...I... Don't think so. These are just... Free lands." His voice was still soft, a little rough from not using it... But he spoke slowly and just loud enough for her to hear.

She heaved a weary sigh of relief and slumped onto her haunches, taking a well-deserved rest. It really wasn't fun to have to go through the rigmarole of interactions with a pack and having to be careful of the slightest thing that these northern types could get fussy about. Slowly, though, she began to realise there was something... odd about the male. His quiet voice, furtive pose.
"Are you well?" she asked, wondering why this other was quite so timid-seeming and skinny to boot.

His head tilted as she flopped to the ground. Interesting wolf, this was... She just flopped onto the ground in front of him... Then again, she was bigger than himself... So he supposed she couldn't be afraid. No one needed be afraid of him.
"Well?" Kalinde asked, shifting to lay upon the ground. This female would have attacked him by now, if she were going to. "I get by."

Ravia exuded easy confidence - Kalinde was right to think she wasn't too scared of him. So long as he didn't have a pack behind him, he just didn't seem the type to be scared of. He didn't look entirely well, but if he said so, who was she to argue?
Normally Ravia wasn't one to chat - her difficulties in their language and her natural distrust in others outside of her family and pack making her a little aloof from others but she was tired. It also never hurt to make her usual inquiries.
"Is... the sea near to here?"

The young Omega hadn't really ever had a pack behind him... It didn't make him sad, or even upset. Just lonely. Thin, wiry, but he scrounged enough food to keep himself alive. And that was enough.
"Sea?" He thought for a moment, lightly scratching his ear. "I think so... Big lot of water you can't drink, it's to the North. Just where the trees end."

To the North, eh? She guessed that she would have to head that way - she'd been going east / south east the last few days, following a dry river with the hope that it'd come to life somewhere along its length. She licked her lips, thinking how nice it would be to have a long, cool drink of fresh water - it'd been a while.
"Do you live here?" she asked, still vaguely curious about the colourful wolf in front of her. "If there is no pack nearby..?" she wasn't sure what to say. She'd come across a few wolves who did not live with packs but it still seemed odd to her.

Looking to his paws Kalinde began to groom them lightly, getting the last bits of fur and dirt from them. He enjoyed being clean, at least... Even if he didn't have a pack that could help him groom.
Looking to the female as she spoke again he shook his head slightly. "For now, I live here... I go wherever I want. There's not a pack here... May be by the ocean, I don't know." He thought about it for a few moments, curling up a bit and resting his head on his paws. "Should be a pack by the water. Usually is."

"Mmm my pack lives by the sea" she said, as if confirming his words. "I suppose freedom of a sort, to go where and when you please is no bad thing but..." but in her heart, Ravia knew she could never live like that, outside that structure.
The black and white female sighed. She knew it was a long shot, but you never knew "You've never seen a wolf with similar colouring to me before, have you?" It was why she was out here, after all. Sometimes, when she thought about it, chasing all this way on a hope was a really stupid idea - the chances of someone having seen her brother, even if he were still alive was slim, at best.

His ears flickered lightly. A pack... It was something he had not had since he was a pup. Some longed for it... Of course, he wished to have someone close, but it didn't matter anymore. He had been on his own for many cycles now...
"White and black patches?" He asked, looking with his oddly-colored eyes as he thought. "A while ago... Passed through here, but I did not speak to them, and they left me alone. Are you looking for them?"

Ravia's heart beat faster as the words came out of the little omega's mouth. "You.. you have?" She hadn't really thought he'd have seen him. If it was him... She had to try to reign in her emotions, get herself under control.
"I... I yes, I'm looking for a wolf who's very similar to me. Male, more white than black and with a marking like mine around his eye" her words came out in a hopeful rush. Could he really still be alive after all this time? She'd barely believed it herself, even though that was the reason for her being here.
Perhaps that wandering storyteller hadn't been lying after all.
"I've been looking for my brother for a long time" she explained, in a softer tone, almost a whisper, as if to speak the words out loud would make them seem ridiculous.
((Sorry for the posting delay, my RP muse got a cold for a few days. It's all better now 83))

She seemed so... Excited. Kalinde looked to the female's face, the mark around her eye. Truly looking to her before he laid his head back upon his paws.
"Can't say for sure, if it was him... I didn't get too close, but he looked like you. Patches of white and all that." He said softly. So she had a family... That was good, he supposed. She could go back to them.
Probably had no idea what she was in store for, once she found them. If they would accept her or not... She seemed strong though, better off than he. She would be let back in.
