Venus's head snapped up when she heard the splash and her gaze snapped from Impulse to the place at the end of the pier where Khloe had been just moments ago. "Oh my..." she murmured and hurried down the peer, kicking off her shoes so she could run barefoot along the planks. She barely heard Impulse running behind her. She glanced around in the water, seeing bubbles rising -- could the girl swim? "Khloe?" Her voice trembled slightly -- images of Marrie or Luminara drowning filled her head and she quickly leapt in after the girl.

Venus felt a rush of relief when the girl's dark head broke the surface of the water, even with the anger in her blue eyes. "I didn't know if you knew how to swim. I don't think I could live with myself if you drowned," she murmured, feeling a stab of sadness. The girl was so shielded, keeping everyone at arm's length... What had happened to make her so...insecure? Venus wanted to wrap her arms around the girl and hug her tightly, though she knew that would earn her probably a slap or a scratch. It didn't make it hurt any less. Impulse was hovering on the dock, concerned. "She's alright!" Then, to Khloe, "Come on, let's go get dry..."

Venus blinked at her, pulling her dress down and blushing when she realized that the water made the outfit practically see-through. She placed her arms over her breasts and looked down at Khloe; man, it really seemed to be eating her that she was still a little kid... "Khloe, believe me when I say this; puberty will hit in a matter of time and then you'll be wishing you were still a kid." Her voice was soft and tender as she reached for Khloe. The girl winced and shrugged, eyes glaring. Venus offered a smile. "You've just gotta be patient. Until then...how about you take me up on my offer and let me show you what you can do until you get your own...feminine body?"

"Thank you," Venus murmured as she took the gold towel and pulled it around herself, a small smile rising onto her lips. She wasn't one to get embarrassed about see-through clothes, but she felt even more secure with Impulse being gay. She smiled and reached out a hand to Khloe. "Let's go inside and while we dry, I'll do your hair?" She glanced to Impulse who was beaming from ear to ear, hands in his pockets. "C'mon, girls," he said as they made their way back to his room in the Ruins.

Venus paused at Khloe's words -- a couple? Impulse chuckled. "I'm gay, kiddo..." was his carefree words and Venus smiled at his honesty, then turned to the girl. "And I've got the most loving mate on the earth. You'll have to meet him sometime -- I think you'd like him." She winked and dried off best she could. Impulse gave her some dry clothes -- although they were a little too big on her -- and she made herself comfortable on the couch. Once Khloe had changed, she patted the seat next to her in invitation. "Bring me a brush and we'll see what we can do with your hair."

Venus missed the days of playing with her daughters' hair, brushing and braiding and clipping and putting bows in it. They were grown up now...they no longer needed someone to play in it. With a stab of jealousy, she realized that their boyfriends would probably be apt to take Venus's place in playing in it.

Someday she'd have another litter, have another little girl to dress up and another little boy to read stories too. This brought a happy smile to her face as she played with Khloe's hair, feeling the girl relax a little. "What kinda style are you thinking, sweetie?"

Venus smiled and followed her, looking to Impulse's handy work. "You know hair," she said softly and he beamed and nodded. She picked up the shears and pondered a style. Something short and layered would make her look more mature. Slowly, she got to work, snipping hair free and locks fell to the floor at their feet. Khloe wrung her hands under the tarp but Venus knew she was doing it and every time she caught her, she squeezed her shoulder, knowing that always made her children feel more assured. Finally, she got done and stepped away.

When she stepped back to admire her handy work, Impulse stepped forwards and began to fiddle. He looked at home doing this, as if this was a favorite hobby and maybe it was, and by the time he was done, the ends of Khloe's hair was tipped in blond and her bangs had a spattering of electric blue in them -- it matched her eyes. Venus clasped her hands together and smiled. "You look so cute!"
