Don't forget the poll. Please check the forum rules before posting. ^_^
I do have a yukata. When I was in high school, my family hosted a Japanese exchange student. She brought gifts for each of us. I got a beautiful blue yukata with dragonflies and pink and yellow peonies on it. ^_^ It even has all the accessories. An obi, bow, the two pads under the obi to keep it smooth, clips to keep everything in place while you're dressing...lol

Just reitterating, please post a poll and read rules before posting. Than you! 3nodding
I don't have a yukata or a kimono, but I will be getting a yukata for the Japanese festival and dance in August. Score! I chose to get a yukata because it's Hawai'i and I don't want to die of heat exhaustion and it is more traditional to wear a yukata in the summer months. heart

You need to add a poll to this post. It is a must in this guild. If you don't know how, you simply need to click EDIT on your original entry, go to the bottom where there are poll options and add any kind of poll you want. Please do so quickly as it has already been requested of you twice. You should also go check out the rules thread so you can become familiar with how this guild is run. ^_^

Oh god...Posting pictures would require actually putting it on again. Perhaps I'll enlist a friend to assist... Maybe next weekend. This week is finals and things are rather...busy.

Too big around the waist or too long? Because the length is a one size fits all. You just have to fold it at the waist so that the extra fabric gets hidden under the obi. That's part of the standard dressing procedures for wearing a yukata. (and kimono as well I think) Even my yukata is too long and I'm pretty freaking tall! Imagine how much needs to get folded up for some of those really short Japanese girls!
Here are a few links on how to wear a yukata (if you don't know how): How to fold it around your body (one way is right. The other is for dead people. Not a good mistake to make!) http://www.japaneseguesthouses.com/about/ryokan/yukata.htm
How to wear a yukata (plus tying the obi): http://homepage3.nifty.com/kakonan-picturebook/yukata 2.htm this is the second of three pages. It's originally in Japanese but the first page was translated. You can just go back a page to see the beginning. ^_^
Really nice step by step with photos through the whole process: http://www.japaneselifestyle.com.au/fashion/how_to_wear_yukata.html

The first few times it's forgivable! I mean, it's not a part of our culture. You're bound to do it wrong at least once! The only reason I got it write my first time is because a Japanese girl dressed me. When I did it myself, there were lumps and bumps and parts falling out all over! XD
