The bus downtown was often loaded with people. Patton had a long way to go, heading to a store on the other end of a very large city from her home. As such, the girl was seated pleasantly on the vehicle and attempting to absorb herself in a large manual, but it wasn't really working.
There were lots of people getting on and off the bus, so the begoggled child found herself watching them. So far she was too disinterested - or shy, as normal people would put it - to speak to them however.

Tori gathered a fist full of her dress as she climbed the stairs of the bus. Her medium sized duffel bag made it a little hard getting on considering the small entry way. Her and the bus driver exchanged smiles- she frequented this bus and this route. She presented her bus pass and after a nod headed towards the back of the bus.
She did her best to keep her eyes on an open seat. She didn't want to attract attention or offend anyone. Last thing she wanted was confrontation.
However out of the corner of her eye she noticed a girl wearing a pair of goggles. Though the girl caught her interest she didn't change focus of the empty seat.

"Good day." Patton stated, watching Tori take a seat right near her - albeit probably with no intention to talk to the little workaholic anyway. She hadn't really felt the need to TALK to people before this, but something about Tori had struck her curiosity.
"Why the duffel? Are you running away?" all in that same calculated monotone, purely inquisitive for the sake of it.

"Hello," Tori giggled. She never had the intentions on giving into her curiosities. However, now that the girl had spoken to her it would be considered rude to not respond.
She looked down at the duffel bag that was taking up half the seat before turning her attention to the girl. "No, I'm not running away. I'm actually on my way to the library in Durem to read to the tots," she didn't bother with the rest of what her day entailed... after all this was a stranger she was talking to.

"Oh...so why do you need a duffel to read to them? There are books at the library, are there not?" This was asked purely out of curiosity, no malice or rude intentions with the words at all. Patton really had no idea why you'd need a duffel bag to read to children.

"There is a lot more to my day that just an hour or two of reading," Tori smiled.
"You know if we plan on chatting we should really exchange names... it is after all the polite thing to do. My name's Victoria but most call me Tori," she figured it would be easier to get a name if she gave a name.

"Patton Mizerlou. And you only specified reading so it was implied the bag was for that." she replied with a nod, closing her manual firmly and turning somewhat in her seat to look at Tori.
Patton's posture didn't change much, she gave off an air of formality and precision that few would comprehend or want to deal with. But she was neither unfriendly nor particularly cold.

"Why would I divulge my entire day to a stranger," Tori said as her eyes narrowed. "Seriously, didn't your parents teach you not to converse with strangers?" Sure it was one thing to be polite in passing but that didn't mean you gave your entire life story.
Hating for even one fold to be out of place she shifted a bit in her seat and began to fuss over her dress.

"I was explaining why I inquired about its uses, I didn't say I needed to know what else you were doing." Patton replied, not phased by the girl's grouchy attitude. "And my mother has said nothing about conversing with strangers because she is fully aware that if you never talk to anyone new, you'll never meet anyone."
"Also, you'd better not pull that way. Your dress is caught between the seats there and if you turn it'll rip." Patton said, leaning over and carefully dislodging the edge of the garment.

There was a time Tori was more open with strangers but it had come and gone. Perhaps it was due to her dad's lesson.
"Thank you," she smiled when Patton helped her without even being asked. Perhaps she wasn't so bad after all. "This is one of my favorite dresses. I appreciate your help."

"You're welcome." Patton stated calmly, sitting back in her chair once more. "Those seats like to grab people's clothes alot. You can tuck the edges of your skirt under your thighs to keep them from getting caught. My sisters have to do that when they ride or else they loose all sorts of things."
"Do you enjoy reading to children?"

"I love reading to the children. It is really something to watch their eyes light up. Sometimes I even bring my sisters with me but only on days when I don't have so much to do later. I read to them all the time at home so it isn't like they miss out," she giggled.

Patton nodded a bit, "My sisters read to each other sometimes. Pogo's better at it than I am though." the girl admitted, "I'm really only good with instruction manuals and basic stuff, she likes long stories."

"My sister Enyo mentioned a girl named Pogo. However, I hardly pay attention to her went she gets into her 'rants'..." she grinned.
"I read instruction manuals also. They are very informative and make doing things a lot easier!" She wasn't trying to boost her ego, she was being honest.

"Enyo, short female, rainbow hair?" she inquired, "That might've been my sister she met. Pogo was talking about someone of that name who apparently claimed her or something."
"Mm well instruction manuals and text books. They're quite helpful." the girl agreed, "It makes putting things together a good deal easier."
