Welcome to the Camrann Caravan Character mesh-ups.
So you want to be part of the Camrann Caravan(CC). This is the place to get started. How so you ask? Don’t you just whip up a character, plop ‘em in the char submit forum, and wholup there you go? Well no. The CC is special for one reason. Our chars all have interlocking backgrounds. Meaning there’s actual PCs written into the char history and not just invisible people(or NPCs).

How does it work? Simply like this. Develop a char for the CC, then post your UNAPPROVED char here.(It might help to list what your looking for at the bottom of his/her sheet.) Talk to people and find other chars to add to your history. Give your char depth with these. Then submit your char in the appropriate place. Make sense?

Alright, here’s just a few guidelines. Remember all character restrictions that are in effect still apply. Also, please keep it one character per post. Thanks. smile

Guildlines:
1- Post unapproved char here.
2- Work out history with others.
3- Once your satisfied, get char approved.
4- Once approved, please strike through to show that you are no longer looking for that char.

Requirements:
1- Not everyone is looking to be a rider. This doesn’t mean you can’t have a candidate char, I just don’t want everyone bailing out at the first hatching. Stand Impression is fine, but I’d like to only see a few get Searched. Remember your loyalty is to the caravan.
2- Include others in your history. They are not going to be an interlinked, close-nit group unless others are included. Read up on who’s already approved/accepted. When you find someone you want to mention, PM the char’s owner and ask for permission before including it. If you work out a background before hand it’ll make it much easier.
2- Consider a specialty. While you don’t have to do this I’m looking to have more than just “traders.” The more diverse the group the better. Someone already in your slot? Don’t worry, there can be more than one person for each slot.

WARNING: I am not guild certified for approving characters! All that I am approving here is meshing character history. Once you have worked out the history you MUST still submit your char in the Character Submission Forum!

And to get things going, I'll start first.

Character Name: Silbakor
Age: 18
Sexual Orientation: Hetero
Craft/Rank: Trader/Journeyman-Spice
History:
Born in the south, mainly the western continent, it’s all Silbakor’s known growing up; learning the trade routes that lead from hold to hold and to Trine Weyr. His parents were traders of the Camrann Caravan. While his father is still with the caravan, his mother is not. During his sixth turn she left the caravan to go live in one of the holds that they often pass through. Rumors flew. Was it a love affair? Or perhaps his father was cruel to her? Only his mother knows and she’s not talking.

On his eleventh birthing day it was finally time for him to choose his trading path. Without hesitation standing before the Caravan Master, his father, and other master Silbakor said clearly, “Spice. I will be a trader of spice.” The spice master came forward to accept the lad as apprentice. For the following turn he dogged the heels of his master. Picking up the words and trading tricks he would need to know.

As soon as she was old enough to toddle, his sister has followed him around. He never seemed to mind and always looked out for her. When she scrapped her knees, it was Silbakor she ran crying to and not an auntie. Even after he started to mature and everyone else thought he would finally push her aside, he didn’t. There have been rumors of Silbakor becoming the next Caravan Master. If he’s heard them he’s given no sign that he’s noticed. Content with his spice trading Silbakor has shown no interest in becoming the next Caravan Master when the current one is ready to retire.

In the caravan, Silbakor knows two brothers. One, Sogare, he likes for his trading and horsemanship skills. He approves of the young man’s skill in training his own runners. On the other hand he doesn’t like Sogare’s older brother, Tsagare. He feels the lad doesn’t do well at trading and even looks down upon him for being unable to train his own runner.

By a personal request Silbakor has kept his eyes out for wild scarves, beads, and ribbons. He trades them with Salin, a candidate at Trine Weyr.

Description:
When seen for the first time the thing of note is his bulk. At only 5’5” it’s the ripple of muscle under the skin that draws the eye. Many a girl has fawned over that body. His almond-shaped eyes are a coal grey. They seem empty and lifeless until he smiles, then they twinkle with humor. Jet black hair accents the olive of his skin.

When it comes to clothes Silbakor likes to wear tight pants of a dark green. He wears an open vest of a lighter green and never a shirt. The vest has several pockets lined to keep water out for special spices. Around his hips circles a three-finger wide belt of brown leather. It carries a wide variety of pouches. Some hold more spices; some contain small tools that might been needed in an emergency. Say to fix a wheel.

Personality:
From the outside Silbakor seems a very solemn fellow. Smiles are rare and slow to cross his lips. This isn’t because he’s mean; it is him taking his time to think through before he acts. Silbakor isn’t one to give the wrong impression during a situation. The only one who gets all the smiles she wants is his sister. He knows his sister looks up to him and does all he can to encourage her. When something does go wrong, Silbakor will take his time examining the problem before pronouncing his verdict.

Even though he’s a spice trader, some still think he should have been a herdbeast trader. Silbakor has an excellent sense on how to get an animal to do what he wishes without the use of violence. A fact he prides himself highly on, no matter how difficult an animal. He posses a gentle touch and soft word that often will get an animal to do what a whip could not. “A well trained beast is the key to a good trader,” is a phrase Silbakor will swear by. His own black stallion is a fine example of that.

His father was often busy with trading when he and Optheli were small children. As a result Silbakor took up the mantle of protector after their mother left the caravan. He has the attitude of a knight when it comes to defending the honor of others. Insults to himself are easily brushed aside as he knows they are untrue. Silbakor knows he will make courting Optheli hard and is ok with it. He feels she should only get the best.

Occasionally, Silbakor will make a split second judgment on someone. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Taking in a scene he determines a person’s attitude and position. However he fails to account for unusual circumstances and events that can change a person’s behavior. Because of this once his mind is made up about you it is a very hard thing to change.

Silbakor has a high respect for authority. He understands how much hard work it is to reach master rank. Knowledge and experience that comes with master rank, he feels, should be passed on down. Hoarding wisdom to oneself is foolish and detrimental to all. Silbakor values his friends greatly and puts a large amount of trust in them. If you need his help you can certainly count on him being there to back you. In a battle he expects his friends to guard his back exactly as he guards theirs.

Although he won’t admit it out loud he has a reason for being a spice trader. Silbakor has a hidden passion for the spices; the ways they are used in different dishes and which region uses which spices. A favorite past-time is trying foods from different locations then trying to puzzle out the method and spices used in the dish.

Other: Stands only Impression.

Character Name: Optheli( ‘Theli for short)
Age: 14
Sexual Orientation: Hints of Bi
Craft/Rank: Trader/Apprentice-Spice
History:
Her mother left when Optheli was barely two turns. Now the memory of her mother is a blank face with flowing hair. All she’s known growing up is the moving of the caravan, seeing new places, and her brother. No matter what, she thinks, he’s always been there for her and always will be. When it came her turn to choose her trading craft she went straight for spices. Let the other girls do needle work and stillroom herbs. While assigned to a different master than her bother she will often go to him with questions.

Just recently she’s started to notice boys in a new light and girls too. She hasn’t told her brother yet, simply waiting for the right time. Optheli has heard that sometimes they take off with young maidens for something evil. Privately she thinks that their just stories told around the campfire at night. Occasionally she’ll see dragons flying over or landing at the hold they’ve stopped at and pause to wonder if the stories are true. She only vagely recalls the last visit to Trine Weyr. They made it out again with all the caravan members, so the stories must be wrong.

Several times she has run into Salin who was looking for her brother. She thinks his hair designs are a bit extreme. The scarves are certainly not to her tastes either.

Description:
At 4’2”, Optheli despairs at ever being tall like her brother. To give herself a few more inches she wears home-made platform shoes. Almond-shaped eyes and a lighter olive skin tone than her brother betrays her family resemblance to him. Optheli likes to wear her hair extremely close cut to her skull, just long enough to barely frame her face. It is the same jet black as her brothers.

Light grey eyes of a thunderhead storm in spring peer out from under delicate eyebrows. Though it looks like a thunderstorm brewing it is actually far from the truth. When it comes to clothes, she prefers a flashy blouse and long skirt. Often in colors that will enhance her eyes.

Personality:
Nothing describes Optheli better than sunny cheerful. No matter how bad the weather or dire the circumstance, she always seems to be in a good mood. Some think its to hide how much pain she’s in cause her mother left when she was only two turns. That is certainly not the case with Optheli. She is happy be alive and it shows through in her attitude. “You can’t always be doom and gloom!” is her motto. The caravan cheerleader would be an excellent position for her.

Optheli is a true blue friend. When someone is having a bad day she’ll do all she can to cheer them up. Even if this means herself as the butt of the joke to get someone to laugh she’ll do it. She’ll do something sweet for a friend if they’re in a bad mood. A favorite treat or a handful of flowers; whatever will cheer their day. Don’t make the mistake of thinking she’s the class clown because she certainly isn’t that.

Her closest friend is quite easily, Silbakor. She feels he can do no wrong and adores him with all her heart. No not that way! That’s just gross. But really, when she has a problem its to Silbakor first, not her father, not the Caravan Master. Odd perhaps but she feels they just have that connection.

In a way she was born to be a trader. She loves to travel and meet new people. Her favorite part is making new friends. Even though there’s sorrow when leaving she has the joy of reunion when she returns and they meet again. Whenever she meets someone new Optheli will go out of her way to find something good about them. Even if she decides she doesn’t like them. Everyone has something good, right?

Even though she’s suppose to be a trader, her gut feeling is that she doesn’t have the knack for it. Privately she thinks she’ll never rise above apprentice. It never gets her down as some might think. Instead she finds other ways to help the caravan; even to the annoyance of her master. Optheli does her best to help out where she can. Cleaning wagons/dishes/laundry or watching the caravan’s children is just fine by her. Just let her change out of her good clothes first, K?

(( Posting for history! I haven't put anything yet, so I am open to anything and anyone! Yavanna' and Sogare's profiles coming later. ))

User Image

Character Name: Tsagare
Age: 17
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft/Rank: General Apprentice/ Security

Height: 5'7"
Weight: 189 lbs

Father: Tsagaso
Mother: Yavarre
Siblings: Sogare(15) and Yavanna(16)
Friends/Enemies: Relys, Silbakor (rival)

History:

Tsagare was quite literally born on the road. From an early age he was taught the trading craft, and though he never showed much talent at it, he proved himself to be a persistent bugger and was allowed to stay. He's been all across the world, and is just waiting to get to all the little islands between the continents.

Well, that would be how Tsa would tell you the story. Truthfully he and his two siblings grew up without fanfare with the Camrann Caravan where their father is a beasthandler and their mother is a cloth trader. He's never left the Southern Continent where Camrann does it's rounds, but yes... he does royally stink when it comes to trading.

Despite the truth not being anywhere near as exciting as the tale, Tsagare has had a great time growing up. He's always been the outgoing and strong type, so he's never lacked for friends (and enemies.) He learned how to use a sword and a bow when he turned 15, and when he proved to be surprisingly adept with both (as well as knives) he was delegated to night security as well as hunting. Tsa took to this like a fish to water, as he has always been a natural guardian. He made swift friends with the other men on the night watch (including the wherhandler Relys, whom he seeks out for all sorts of dirty dating advice.) He more then makes up for his brother Sogare's pessimism on the personality front, and Sogare more then makes up for Tsa's shortcomings as a trader. Tsa's sure that there is one guy who wouldn't miss him if he left, but he still considers his rival Silbakor to be a good buddy and would miss that sour-face if HE ever left.

Description:

The first thing any- and EVERYone notices about Tsagare is his eyebrows. Hellishly bushy and flared at the end like torches, they don't do a whole lot for his self-declared role as Caravan Casanova, but they do serve as identification. His eyes, which go sadly unnoticed, are a rather lovely shade of turquoise blue, and his face could be considered handsome if he did something about the brows.

Physically he is extremely fit, and leans towards the bulkier end of the spectrum. He moves like a man in charge, which has the unfortunate side effect of making him look even more the fool when he messes up (as he usually does) and in earning him quite a few enemies. Not that Tsa' cares overly much, he likes duking it out with his multiple rivals, and usually considers his worst enemies his best friends.

Personality:

Reckless, care-free and energetic, Tsagare is the world's worst mix personality wise when it comes to teen-aged boys. He thoroughly enjoys flaunting his young muscles, be it for the few girls he comes into contact with or to put the other boys in their respective places. Widely considered an economic loose cannon by the adults, he isn't trusted with a whole lot on the trading side of things given how very gullible he can be. He readily believes whatever anyone tells him when it comes to mathematics, and is a horrible bargainer.

A terrible boaster, most of his enemies were earned through this particular vice. Any story that can be embellished, is... be it at his own expense or someone elses. The rest are probably enemies of the more run of the mill sort; bully-boys he's thrown off his younger brother, prospective boyfriends he caught making eyes at his younger sister, and anyone he's ever caught sneaking around the caravan at night. Tsagare takes his job as a guard Very Seriously, and Faranth help the Holdless thieves he catches trying to lift the Caravan's merchandise. At 17 turns, he might not have the height and build to appear a threat at first, but anyone who has ever crossed him has learned swiftly why he was delegated overnight guard duty.

When it comes to the future, Tsa is a idealist. He likes to imagine himself as Caravan Leader someday, but Sogare keeps that particular dream grounded in reality with a few well aimed teases about figuring. Nevertheless, this young guardian is a dreamer, and has been known to come out with all sorts of impassioned declarations when asked about his plans. Harpering, Healing, Smithing, Dragonriding... he's imagined himself all the way across Pern!

But when a listener actually takes a step back to put all of the pieces together, they will find a young man who desperately wants to get as much out of life as he can. 'No, you can't' does not exist for Tsagare, and he firmly believes that not even the sky is the limit.

Other:

- While Tsagare is the older brother, Sogare often acts like the steadfast brains of the outfit given Tsa's inability to apply rational logic to anything financial... so Tsa is often mistaken as the younger of the two.

- A bit of a jack-of-all trades, Tsa has had his hand in multiple proverbial pies, and considers it his goal in life to experience and learn as much as he can. Math be damned.

- Rather good with a sword and knives, he often serves as one of the few guards within the caravan. Unlike Holders, who have little to fear, the Traders have the more desperate Holdless to worry about when on route.

- Very rash, he tends to leap before looking and often lands in he fire because of it.

- Surprisingly, Tsa is not all that good with runners (or any large creatures that can't be reasoned with) and relies on Sogare to train his runner. Most animals like him, but he's just too much of a softy to apply to appropriate discipline when it is needed.

Character Name: Relys
Age: 23 turns
Sexual Orientation: Bi
Craft/Rank: Wher-Handler of CC

History:
At about the age of 5 Relys first became aware of the creatures that prowled around camp at night. He was sitting with his mother at the campfire when a pair of glowing green eyes caught his attention. Every night there-after before bedtime he would try to see those eyes again. It became a large game of hide-n-seek for him as a child.

A turn later the glowing eyes were almost forgotten. It was then that Relys saw his first watchwher. It happened at just about dusk; he noticed the handler walking towards the forest with a beast at his side. By the time he had run to his mother to ask what it was the two had vanished. It took him several days to work up the courage to come out and ask the handler himself. That was when he learned about whers. Since then Relys has had a fascination with the nocturnal creatures of the caravan.

Life was not always pleasant for Relys. His father wanted a manly child, so the slight Relys was a disappointment. He suffered his father’s best intentions of making him “into a man.” All to no avail. When they stopped in at holds, the holder children knew something was different about him. Relys often found himself the center of unwanted attention. As he grew though and learned what he was, he turned that attention to his advantage. Using it to flaunt himself and find others like him or those willing to experiment a little.

Unfortunately, all things must come to an end. During his 14th turn the eldest caravan wher died of old age. The caravan masters quickly decided they needed a new wher. The ex-handler refused for reasons of his own; they would have to pick a new one. Several days it took the masters to decide on who would get the chance to become the new wher-handler. When the announcement was made Relys was in shock. He was to get a wher?! Well not exactly. It took two turns, before there was a clutch that Relys could possibly get an egg. As it turned out the female wher didn’t like him and wouldn’t allow him one of her eggs. Another turn passes and he gets a second chance; proving himself worthy and taking an egg.

Several sevendays since the hatching and blooding of his blue wher Relysk, Relys is floating on clouds. Because of the caravan’s request, his special wher-wagon is set a good distance from the others. It seemed everyone didn’t like the noises made by the young wher. He had left to get more blood porridge not realizing the danger lurking in the bushes. Baby wher shrieks cut through the night as several large felines dragged Relysk from the wagon. The other wher ended up chasing them off but not before Relysk was injured. Relys took three sevendays to be sure his wher was healed due to paranoia.

Working as the night guard, Relys has come to know his fellow guards well. He respects Tsagare’s skills in helping to defend the caravan. On long cold nights Relys likes listening to his cheerful chatter as it helps passes the candlemarks.

Description:
Relys was never a large child and never will be a large adult. He stands an average 4’10” with a very slim build. In a dress he would make a very fetching girl. His hair is a dark chocolatey brown and kept cut to mid-back. It’s always kept in a tight braid when he’s awake. Because whers are nocturnal Relys spends most of his time awake at night; his skin is a pale white that adds a sense of delicacy to him.

He likes to wear sturdy tunic, leggings, and boots. This is when he must go tramping around the forest or untamed areas after his wher. It wouldn’t do to get a thorn in his foot. His favorite color to wear is blue. The closer it matches his wher the better he likes it.

Personality:
When it comes right down to it Reyls is a very caring and doting young man. Tending to hover in situations where he can’t help often puts him right in the way. This can also be seen as being over protective. Give him a task to get him out of your hair. He is compassionate in his feelings towards others, particularly his lovers and watchwher, Relysk. Reyls will freely offer his shoulder to anyone who needs a good cry if they ask.

Love is not an emotion he has trouble feeling and there’s plenty to go around. So much so that sometimes he tends to smoother his lovers in love or get too overprotective of Relysk. Reyls suffers from a case of border line over-protective. This is particularly true of his watchwher.

He takes his duty to protect the caravan very seriously. Waking at mid-dusk to break his fast and get ready; once the sun is down he’ll call Relysk out of the wagon. They take turns all night with the other wher-handler patrolling the grounds around the caravan. He does his best to work around Reylsk’s fear of felines. When the wher scents them he tends to go into a tizzy that is generally loud enough to wake the whole caravan. On the plus side it also tends to scare the felines away.

In short, Reyls is a playboy. He’s not shy about it and likes to sleep around. Perhaps it’s something to get back at his father. Either way, he’s very much more literal minded than some of his fellow traders when it comes to partners. Reyls almost never says no. Because of traveling with the traders, his lovers know that soon he will leave. Reyls’ always assures them though that he will return.

Other: The best time to talk to Relys is late evening to very early morning. Most if not all rps will be conducted at those times. Relys and Relysk live in southern and work to guard the Camrann Caravan.

Wher Name: Relysk
Color: Blue
Personality: A bad experience as a hatchling with several felines left him with lasting mental and physical scars. His person had left the wagon to make more blood porridge for him. Suddenly two large felines climbed into the wagon parked slightly farther away from camp than the others. They had dragged him squealing out and left several large cuts to his hind quarters and chest before another wher had chased them away.

Even though he’s now stronger and has thicker skin, he’s always worried they will come back to finish him off. The slightest scent of feline will send him into a panicked frenzy. Despite his fears he would do anything to protect his human, even if he doesn’t always seem friendly. Most of the time he presents an aloft face; strolling along carelessly among the wagons with only the hint of a limp. However, on rare occasions he desires to curl up with his for comfort.

He hates tunnel snakes and wherries with a passion. In part, to make up for his fear of felines, he is particularly ferocious with them. Almost nothing will stop him from chasing them as far away from camp as he can. Even though he pretends distance between himself and the humans, he will meekly submit to the children climbing on him. As long as they aren’t too rough, he makes an excellent pseudo-babysitter. He is particularly proud of his dark blue body and light blue spikes. Praising that will earn a human a Wher point, maybe two if they do a really good job.

Character Name: Sogare
Age: 15
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft/Rank: General Apprentice/Accounting

Height: 5'4"
Weight: 150 lbs

Father: Tsagaso
Mother: Yavarre
Siblings: Tsagare(17) and Yavanna(16)
Friends/Enemies: Silbakor

History:

Description:

Sogare is one sharp looking young man, all the way from his jet black hair to his sharp nose and precisely tailored leggings. He's not a very large youth, and will top off at about 5'10" when he reaches maturity, but the lack of bulk doesn't appear to phase him. He's got plenty of old scars lining his body from his years of being tossed in the dirt by other boys, but after finally getting a growth spurt, he's managed to stop being the one tossed.

Personality:

So' is perhaps a bit too fond of using his considerable intellect to bully other boys his age (which would account for why he's got so many old scars from getting beaten up.) Despite always having his older (and much stronger) brother there to rescue him, Sogare doesn't like admitting needing the help, and rarely ever says thank you. He's pessimistic and derisive, forgoing any attempt at having friends early on mostly out of the desire to be different from his extremely charismatic brother Tsagare.

Despite that, he has managed to earn himself something of a reputation amongst the adults as being quite good with the money... and very responsible to boot!
