Introduction
the only way I see I can work for gaiaonline.com is by educating new users and any user who doesn't know what scams look like..and how to defend against them..read below for details.
this is a haven for new users and people who've been hacked, share your story if nothing else.
people who get hacked arn't stupid, its just a mistake..dont quit gaia if you get hacked..every month new month collectables come out with a promise of a gaia future.
Part 1 forum tips
tip #1: you can use towns and chat on the forums at the same time!
it's very useful for getting gold and chatting if you just have to be in towns to meet friends!
it's easy.. open towns.. move it to the right side.. than look at your browser, unlock it so you can resize it. if you do it just right.. you can have both towns and the forums viewable on your computer and you can go from one to the other with more easy and more use.. because they are both infront of you and you dont have to click any tabs to see them...
it's good because you can post in the forums,earning gold..and replying to pm's fast.. while still retaining a level of fun in towns.
essentially this can also be used with other stuff.. like youtube.. but you have to have two broswers(windows) open.
tip#2: how to make clickable links!
click reply in forums or a private messrge.. look at the grey box the has lots of stuff like font resize and other stuff.. on the very right you'll see url with a line under it.. click it.. a box will open on the top left corner.. copy and paste the link in the box than click ok.. than the box will disappear and reappear if not, the box should now say webpage title.. now type in the title you want for your clickable link..

tip#3: posting images!
click reply in PM or forum topic thread..and a box will open on the top left.. copy and paste url link into it.. and bam! eye candy for your friends.
tip#4: Secret Refresh page shortcut!
on most pc's the shortcut is.. F5, it's on the keyboard.. if it doesn't work, i'm sure theirs a way to set it so it will refresh, but unfortunately you'll have to do the research yourself.. try a search engine for help, if it doesn't work. yahoo anyone? don't give me those googly eyes!
tip#5: Get photobucket or Imageshack!
they are image,gif holding sites.. where you make a account and your images are in your personally account for easy access.. I know photobucket has a img code set into your album gallery for easy image posting..
tip#6: Don't Beg![for gold or items{questing is acceptable}]
your more likely to get gold through hard work than begging, experienced gaia users hate beggers, well it just annoys them.
if you need gold here's ways to get it.
-post in forums[like this one
]-shake bushes and tree's in towns.
-invest in donation letters..because their are so many, the prices will float up and down.. but the market claims the pricing.
-voting in threads that have polls[10g per vote; only one vote per thread]a hundred votes will get you 1000g
-surfing the gaia website gets you gold
-voting for avatars in the offical gaia avatar contest
tip#7: Tektek.org [gaia item pricing resource]
alot of sellers and buyers don't want you to know about this site, why because it's so useful for selling and buying.. sometimes the demand for a item is so high.. you'll have to buy items a few 1000 above the preset market price.. though some sellers want to get rid of their items fast and sell them cheap.you can also get profile themes here, and make up new avatars or as they call it dream avatars. select anything from gaia and put it on a avatar.. customize it any way.. and bam.. you got eyecandy! it's easy and fun. I use it sometimes.
tip#8: Text Options
1.changing text color
in the reply form, click the A thats blue next to the three A's.
click a color and your set. remember to type between the two.. below is example;
here it is [*color=selectcolor]text here[*/color] remove the *'s only and you got yourself a color code.and replace selectcolor with one of the colors in the color scheme below.its obvious you type where text here is.this pretty much applies to all text coding. :]
2.bolding,crossing out,underlining,and slanting text
the first four options in the reply box are what they look like. you click them and you got the code. if you have trouble look at the above at the text bolded above this section[basically the bottom of changing text color]

tip#9: use rightclick to open links
when you do that, find the open in new window option.. that way you stay in the gaia page your at and you get to the link without trouble or backtracking.
tip#10: The golden rule
do not, I say do not use your email password as your gaia password, if your account is hacked, they will find your email. if your email account has been compremised[stolen] report it to your email provider,First thing! also dont share your email unless they are trusted friends.
tip#11: buy your store items from the market place.
why? because their is always listing for items that people dont want that they may have bought, or accendiently bought. of course they can't sell at store price because, well no one would buy,storing it would be cheaper. well so you can save big coin,big time surfing the marketplace, or settle with stores from all the gaia towns.
tip#12: if you've been hacked. freeze your account!
you can contact gaia through your email address if they hadn't stole that either[anyone change their email password lately?well this is why you don't want your gaia and email pass the same]
when they freeze your gaia account. no one can use it, until you send them a messege that it can be unfrozen, thus giving you time to change your password.
tip#13: make multiple accounts
why are they good for events.. well the vampire vs human event you could get human and vampire ending event prizes like ghost cape and little bitty bat, but it ended their.. if you have multiple you can do it over and collect even more loot.
also another useful tip is to store your letters on a account for safety all the stuff your saving.
tip#14: Gaia Event timer
I think this is made by a user on gaia.
but basically during events you have a alotted time to wait before next posts or gathering of items.. with this timer oyu can shave alot of time and gather at maxium capacity.. wow that sounds like a great idea so where do I find this timer.. wait.. you keep track of how long you have to do something by posting than trying to post again.. so you see how long you have to wait.. if its 2 minutes.. it should say you have 1 minute 56 seconds left something like that..

Part 2 [Scam facts]
So you've been around here for more than two years or maybe for a few seconds.
I know I know..all you want to do is hear smell or think is gold..so here.. it is..post questions one by one. and you'll get gold.

-the hacker,con artist- these rats like to post links which will take you to another site and attempt to trick out of your password..also they send pm's in a phishing technquie to get your pass and user.. they dont need your user because they have it when they pm you.. but.. you must report all hackings.. its easy in the pm.. report a pm button is avalible on the lower left corner of the pm. instead of replying to the post just report. also if you have your emails open in the options or spread them around on gaia.. they can try to phish your account from that email.. DONT GIVE OUT YOUR PASSWORD
types of scams
1.phishing scam; links usually look like this www.8gaiaonline.com and when you open the link it looks like this. its easy to tell your logged in already and its best to look at the address bar to see if the address link is different from www.gaiaonline.com in any way! the scam operates by confusing you to think your logged out and need to log in again. however if you try to log in..you'll be directed to something not from gaia..usually.. or it will say server is too busy or something like that.
2.email phishing scam;just another scam through your email asking for your password and user information
3.pm admin impersonator scam;just like the email phishing scam only in the gaia pm's this time. some times they make it look professional by useing pictures as seen below.

how to report a scam pm
How they do it?
the site looks just like gaia.. and it brings you to the login menu..but my advice is to always look at the address bar..it won't say gaiaonline.com on it.
don't give out your email address here to the open.. some people email you impersonating a mod trying to get your password.. which happened to me once.. I reported the user at once.. and that ended his or her fun.
