This is a private rp between Shin-Mu(Beejoux) and Huang Fu(Nyxstuki Moon).

Setting:

Cherry Tree Hill.
Late afternoon, after the academy has released its charges for the day. Huang Fu is relaxing in the shade beneath a tree, while Shin-Mu is making her way home along the most visually appealing route.

PostPosted: Wed May 12, 2010 10:54 pm

It was sunny, but not overly hot. Extremely enjoyable weather for a walk, what with the bright blue skies and gentle breeze. As a general rule, Shin made it a point to get home quickly after class, avoiding any awkward conversations or strained encounters. She'd begun to realize that her somewhat "interesting" up-bringing had left her with a very tentative grasp of social interactions, at best. This hadn't been an issue previously. She had her spiritual companions to keep her company and friends, and they kept her entertained and happy. Now that she had entered the academy though, things had changed drastically. She was well and truly out of her depth, and it frustrated her immensely.

She had managed to make one acquaintance, A pleasant young man with similar interest in puzzles. His pet bird was quite enchanting as well. Perhaps another reason why she'd decided to take the long way home. It was at Cherry Hill that she'd met Miao, and she wouldn't mind speaking with him again.

Of course he was no where to be seen as she picked her way down the path. It was disappointing, but not enough so to ruin a perfectly good afternoon stroll.

Shifting her grip on her books, she clutched the bundle to her chest. Rolling dark shoulders back as she lengthened her stride, from leisurely to casual. Pale, lily green eyes focused a ways down the path. Carelessly, she missed the young man lounging under the tree, along with his books placed along the edge of the path.

Huang Fu sat quietly at the base of the largest of the cherry tree's on top of the hill. He was tired of the day and the people he had to attend the classes with. His parents had found out about the prestigous academy and had sent his older brothers to attend, Huang was only allowed to attend because it would keep him close to his brother, his charge without being detected by the Nobles, or anybody in general.

Even now he was guarding his older brother, for the view from hill allowed him to keep a watchful gaze on his older brother and his young non noble finacee. They met in secret everyday here, but it was no secret to Huang.

He was also taking this time to relax as much as his body would allow him to. Which was hard with the people who seemed to want to pass by this hill. He shoved his book bag out from the tree so that he could stretch a little and became aware of a another presence, feminine and soft, he could smell her perfume and hear her light foot steps. He was aware of her like he was aware of everyone else, but shuffled her presence away. She was not a threat to him or his brother, so she did not matter.

One of these days she was going to have to start paying attention to her surroundings, or there was a very good likely hood she was going to find herself hurt, or worse. Within the safety of the Xia honke, or under the protective watch of her ghostly wards or personal caretakers she had little reason to worry over her surroundings. They kept her safe, steered her clear of harms way, and protected her. Now, on her own, she was left to watch out for herself, and thus far was not doing a very good job of it.

The tip of one pale green shoe caught the stack of books, and the dark lunarian pitched forward with a startled yelp. School books went flying as hands swung out in a vain attempt to regain balance, snapping her other foot forward to base her falling weight before successfully planting the sole on the ground. All her efforts earned her were a severe twist to her ankle and an ungraceful tumble.

Sprawled in a heap of pristine silks and pale hair, Shin-Mu groaned softly, pushing herself up to roll onto her side, mostly up right. Moving slowly, nothing seemed to be hurt beyond a few scraps to her palms and a very big bruise to her pride, but upon shifting her legs she couldn't help but wince as a painful throb shot up her calf from her ankle.

She probably should have been concerned with just how injured she was, but beyond the pain, the only thing on her mind was getting away from the prying eyes of others. No doubt she'd managed to make a complete fool of herself, and she'd have loved nothing more then to slink away somewhere private to nurse her battered ego. Unfortunately, not even slinking was much of an option, as she couldn't even move the injured ankle enough to get it under her, let alone have it support any weight.

Huang-Fu's prying eyes turned from his brother and his lover to the girl whose presence should've not disturbed him....Disturbed him. He watched her as if in slow motion, falling forward and he could tell already that she would be injured. He felt guilty almost instantly because the poor girl had tripped over his own books, and with a small peek at his brother, who was content in his lovers arms, got up to tend to the girl.

"Excuse me, Lady." His tone was polite as he crouched down next to her, meeting her eyes with his and was shocked to see such a pretty lily green. Though the thought was instantly put out as he noticed the girl's hand was indistinctly covering her ankle and winced,"I did not mean to cause you harm My Lady, but it seems i have, will you allow me to check your ankle, maybe perhaps bandage it?" He asked again with bred politeness, though he did not wait for a answer, she needed to be moved from the postion she was in before she drew unwanted eyes. Picking her up so that she was cradled in his arms, He carried her back to the base of the tree where he had just been resting on. Careful not to jangle her as he set her down on the base of the trunk. He went back to gather her books and his bag and set them aside, He waited for her okay so that he could make sure that her ankle was indeed not broken, he was sure that she must be offended with him already, not only did she trip on his belongings but to be manhandled as well. Huang was sure that he was shamed faced.

Instead he kept his face that in the solemn expression, which automatically oozed the fact that he had been raised much like a servant or lower class to respect any kind of Regal noblity even if the said people we're Legion or Noble. Speaking of Nobility he let his gaze wander back to where his brother was and noticed he was gone, cursing to himself and sighing, he looked back at the Lady girl, One problem at a time is what Huang's master would've said.

Pale greens widened in something close to horror as the other lunarian rushed to her side. A dark flush creeping up along her cheeks, making gem stone colored scales stand out in stark contrast. What she wanted more then anything else was to sink into the earth and disappear, that wasn't about to happen though.

"I'm alright, I'm.. " trailing of, features contoured in another wince of pain as he lifted her effortlessly to carry her off the path and place her against the nearest tree. She wasn't going anywhere on her own, not unless she was welling to crawl, and that lacked a certain amount of dignity to the young Noble. Resigned to her current state of immobility, she sighed and sat back against the tree, frowning miserably.

It was then that what he'd actually said sank in. Something of an admission of guilt for her having tripped. Frankly, if he hadn't said anything, she wouldn't have known he was to blame for it, but now that she did..

Embarrassed, and hurt, her normal haughtiness naturally escalated and she didn't exactly make much of an effort to hide the scowl that was now turned his way. "I could have broken my neck, tripping on those books." Her voice was venom, and even as she words were slipping past her lips she felt a pang of guilt at just how ungrateful she was being, considering he was now trying to help.

Granted, Shin-mu's people skills left a lot to be desired, and she pressed her lips together in a thin, stubborn line. Not apologizing for snapping at him, but not saying anything else terribly unfortunate either. Dark fingers were curled in the pale silk of her skirt, shoulders hunched from a combination of pain and nerves. And when she couldn't keep herself from wincing, nor glaring at the royal blue lunarian, she turned her gaze away from him, delicately shaded lids snapping shut.

"I apologize my lady, I did not know that anybody was here." Huang-Fu lied about that, he knew she was there, but he didn't expect her to wander so close to where he was, "I will tend to your wound then to make sure it is not more damaged than it is now." He said it gently without any kinda of sarcasm, malice or negative energy, regardless of the girl's curt venom that was in her voice.

As he touched her ankle gently, he could feel the beginnings of the swollen skin. He sighed, the need for ice or something cool would help and all he had was the balm his master gave him to cool the burns he got from working with metal. He kept silent as he reached for the bag that caused the mess, reaching in to pull out his own little pouch of first aid materials, including the balm and bandage wrappings and set it aside, setting up the first aid so what he needed would be ready for him to grab. He studied the girl, "I am Huang-Fu of the Lee Family, My Lady, Know that i will not touch you without your proper permission and that if i do, you are free to exact punishment."

"My Lady, If i might inquire, Does it hurt when i do this?" Huang Fu gently put a little pressure on the swollen part. Depending on her reaction, it might help him to find out how tight the bandages needed to be, and whether or not he will have to escort the girl home. It would hurt his schedule for watching his brother, but Huang was, if not noble, a honor bound man to help her whether he really wanted to or not.

It was an effort not to cringe away from his touch. The pain in her ankle was tolerable until pressure was put on it, and any little touch or jostle sent shock waves throbbing up her leg. She might not have looked it, but she was listening when he spoke, and when he apologized and offered to tend to the injury she nodded, not looking up. The initial shock of what had happened had warn off, and she had relaxed as much as she was able, all things considered.

Pale eyes had turned back to watch him as he set up anything he might need to bandage her up. Cool and falsely arrogant, but no longer openly hostile. Really, she just wanted to go home, to get away from him and anyone else, and to be alone.

The way he spoke was refreshing, she could admit to that. Something she was used to. Proper and well mannered and respectful. She looked up at him when he mentioned permissions and punishments, blinking in soft surprise. "That's very respectful of you." Her voice was soft as she spoke, slightly hesitant as if not quite sure if he was genuine or not. If he was, then it was a welcome change from the lunarians she'd been running into lately.

She was watching him now, watching his hands as he worked. When his fingers brushed along the swollen part of her ankle she couldn't help but squirm, try to draw away so he wouldn't do what she knew he was about to do. Not like she could really go anywhere. Of course it hurt, and she only half succeeded in not writhing from the pain. Breath coming out in a sharp hiss followed by a series of soft protests, mostly incoherent.

Huang sighed as he felt the ripples of her leg shake as he applied pressure. It wasn't a life threatening injury, but it wasn't one to take lightly. He scoured the ground for something and came up with a large piece of flattened bark. "My Lady? I will be making a small brace for your leg and it will hurt for a bit, do you want something for the pain? Do you have something to distract you from thinking of the pain? Some kinda of activity?" Huang-Fu stared at her intently as he kept his hands on her ankle, brushing it slightly again as he watched her eyes go a little glassy from pain.

"Well then, It is now or not." Huang tried a smile at her, though it came out awkward and only lifted a little crook in the corner of his mouth as he sat down at her feet. he slipped one slipper off and rested her ankle on his knee, still holding it up as he reached for the cooling balm and applied it to her skin. He massaged it gently, focused on the swollen dark skin as the balm covered it and made her skin a bit glossy. Next he pulled the flat piece of bark and ripped it into halves, and then wrapped cloth around it so that none of the wood poked her skin. As he worked, he was quiet, even his movements we're silent as he picked up tools and bandages, Shaping the wood so that it made and nice shape and then set the to pieces on the sides of her leg. After he was done with that, He grabbed the large roll of bandages and wrapped them around the two wood pieces and her leg, wrapping a little bit tight to make sure nothing came loose until she had a nice, tidy and not too noticeable wrap around her leg. He kept her show off though and looked up at the girl.

"My lady it seems that you will not be able to walk for quite a bit, Is there someone you can summon here? Or would you rather wait to walk on it yourself?" Huang studied her, Either way, a summons would take a while to get here and she wouldn't be able to walk on it for a couple of hours regardless.

A distraction, activity? Shin frowned, glanced towards her school books and sighed. "No, nothing." She could have tried to read, but she doubted she'd be able to concentrate on it with him messing aorund with her ankle. Noble in every sense of the word, the dark lunarian had never been exposed to anything that could have caused her anything close to this much pain, so this was quite new to her. It was certainly not life threatening, but when you had nothing worse to compare it to, even mundane injuries seem bad t the mind.

He was right though, she did need a distraction. If she just kept watching him tend to her leg she was bound to cry out, curse, or any other number of unladylike behaviors. "There is no on available, nor do I think I would be able to walk.." Her voice faded off as she covered her face with her palms, rubbing cheeks and up along temples and through her bangs.

"Huang-Fu you said your name is?" She was terrible at small talk, but it'd do for a decent distraction. "I'm Shin-Mu, of the Xia family." Dropping her hands to her lap, she smooths them over her thighs. "I suppose I should be thankful that you have skill in first aid." It wasn't exactly a thank you, but it was somewhat close.

A quick search along her waist revealed something of great importance was missing, and she sat up suddenly, wide eyes searching the grass around them for the purple bamboo flute she seldom went anywhere without. "Do you see a dizi? I'm missing it, it's antique and very important." She looked almost pained at the thought of having lost it.

Huang tried to keep her distracted as he mumbled responses to her, though he knew that the pain would hurt regardless of how much she had endured or not. He watched as she moved her hands to her face to rub and felt instant sympathy, coupled with the fact that he indirectly caused this.

"Yes Huang-Fu of the Lee family."
He nodded his head still wrapping to make sure the bandage was presentable and comfortable, "It is no problem My Lady, I work as a metal smith and am injured a lot, its convenient to have the skills to take care of myself and others." He said almost jokingly but he knew extensive methods of first aid, again just in case for his brother, Charge was ever hurt.

Huang felt her jerk and look up in surprise and worry in case he had injured to see her flailing around, "A Dizi Lady Shin?" Huang got up and looked around the area she had fallen before noticing a purple reed shaped like a flute and picking it up, holding it out to her, "Is it Damaged Lady Shin?" He cocked his head in worry, if he had broken it, he was sure that it would be his head under a axe.

Her heart was in her throat, chocking her. Or perhaps that was just the near blinding panic at the thought of losing not just the instrument, but Liu as well. He was bound to the flute, and if she lost him.. Well the thought was really much to painful to bare. "Yes, yes a Dizi. It's old, but well taken care of, made of purple bamboo." Her voice was rather high pitched and desperate by the end of her little ramble and she was breathing fairly hard.

When he found it, and it looked free from harm she could have sworn her heart stopped. She snatched the instrument from his hands the second it was within range, clutching the antique to her chest as she heaved a massive sigh of relief. Thin shoulders collapsing back against the tree.

"Oh thank Goddess." The flood of relief was enough to distract from the pain in her ankle. It still hurt, still throbbed, but it was like a dull ache now, something she could more easily ignore. Could she walk on it? Not a snow flake's chance in hell, but she could at least now sit there and let him touch her without writhing in pain.

"No, it's not damaged. Thank you for getting it for me." Inspected twice over, the flute perfectly fine, Shin lifted that pale gaze to Huang. Really looking at him for the first time. Lily green distracted by soft maroon.

Huang nodded his head before checking her ankle once more and then sitting a little from her. "That is good then Lady Shin, it would be a shame to lose something precious." Huang made himself comfortable as he stared at her, "Do you play well?" He wouldn't mind hearing the girl play.

"I mean, Do you want to play then? Since we have the time."
Huang looked down to the ground, it was not proper of him to be asking of such a thing was it? He played with the ground still silent, how was he suppose to be respond? Would he try to comfort her now?

"Your ankle seem's to be uh....healing very well."
Huang blushed again.

PostPosted: Fri May 14, 2010 7:32 pm

Dark finger tips trailed over the polished length of the flute, a soft smile twitching along her lips that wilted rather quickly as Huang's voice reminded her he was there. It wasn't exactly that she'd forgotten him, but more that her relief was more important then his presence at that moment. Pale eyes blinked at the young man as he settled on the ground near her, lips pursed slightly at the questions regarding her playing.

"I do. I've been playing since I was five." Holding the dizi up, Shin checked to make sure the delicate "skin" over the hole at one end was still in tact. Without it the sound wouldn't come out half so crisp and melodic.

"It's not, you don't have to sugar-coat anything for me. I know sprains take weeks to heal." Her tone was blunt and matter-of-fact, but she wasn't trying to be rude, just honest. She looked up, catching sight of the blush, and an answering one flared along her cheeks for no reason she could fathom. Cursing the heat making bi-colored scales stand out against rosy skin, the dark lunarian brought the dizi up to her lips, drawing a deep breath before blowing over the thin membrane and hole beneath it. Bringing the instrument to life.

Playing was like breathing for Shin, and with her religious training in her intertwined skills, when the notes floated aorund them, they were touched by her ki. It was difficult now to play without infusing the melody with her spirit magic, something she would have had to concentrate on. Now, she was simply playing, and a measure of calm pushed at the psyche's of those within listening range. Lulling the mind into rest and comfort and chasing away fear or anxiety.

Huang stared down at the ground as she told of her playing, "Ah that is a long time to play, You learned from a master? Or did you self teach yourself?" Huang always wanted to know how people learned to make such sounds, it was always so foreign to him.

"I wouldn't sugar coat if it didn't need to be." Huang said stiffly and sighed, "It'll be hard for walking on for a week or so, but this will help you toughen the bone in case of the same situation happening." Huang blushed again, The whole reason she had a sprained ankle was his fault anyways, it wasn't fair to her that he had caused her such a hindering injury.

He sat silent again, brooding a bit as an awkwardness came over them, though he watched from the corner of his eye as she brought the little flute up to her lips and began to fill the air with a soft melodic sound. Huang could only listen astonished as his body filled with deep deep calm, even the rage he had hidden from Yuan's death felt like a calm dull ache of longing and loneliness. He played with the grass as he let the melody encompass him and surround him even more so to the point where he was almost drifting.
