Say you are looking at a desired item in the MP, and find that its price is incredibly inflated and a little difficult to sell. Hoping to find a much better deal, you look for sellers hoping to sell at a fair price. You find a seller, and they are expecting an amount around the inflated MP price. You politely tell them that the item is very inflated and since its in low demand, it could be hard to sell. You give an offer that is low, but only because its inflated. Youre also willing to haggle it out a bit. You receive your response, but its very rude, and the seller went ahead and blocked you.
I just recently received a response from a seller, but it was very rude and immature. Im used to getting declined offers from time to time, but this time, Im a little annoyed that after I sent a polite pm back, the response wasnt. I was expecting, "Im sorry, but I cant sell for that only that much. Thank you anyway." or something like that. Im fine with that. But Im not all that fine with receiving a response that made me look like the bad guy. The user had blocked me. Okay then. If I wasnt, I would have sent a polite response back, since i find it it stupid to send an angry reply after getting an angry reply. "Thank you for considering my offer. Good luck selling." Maybe its just how I am normally, but when I show someone respect or politeness, I do expect some sort of respect back.
So, ever had any sort of similar experience?

Eh... can't say I have gotten anything similar to the above story.
I did however have someone harassing me when I was trying to sell my NKS in the exchange trying to tell me that it wasn't worth the amount I was selling it at and that I should lower my price because he bought his at ___ price. It was the weirdest thing I've ever seen. Don't you want your items to inflate? He was apparently doing it to other peoples threads too. I asked him to leave and eventually blocked him after I ripped him a new a*****e. I usually don't put up with B.S.

Telling someone that their item isn't worth alot isn't going to get you much of a nice response when you PM them. It's just not tactful.
I've gotten people who have stalked me trying to haggle badly for like 4 days straight. I don't block people but I definitely chewed him out about how he was harassing me and could have just easily gone after any of the other 12 people listing the item.

I send a flurry of flames to anyone who asks me to lower my price by more than a reasonable 2%.
If they don't have the respect to acknowledge that this is the price I want, I don't have the patience to listen to their pitiful excuses either. I don't care whether the item is "inflated" or "hard to sell" (dear god those two phrases piss me off to no end); I'm not going to lower my price because one stranger can't afford to pay me (or, cynically speaking, wants to reap MY profit).
Also, politeness doesn't mean anything. Saying please or sorry doesn't make your actions immediately less severe. You're still trying to rob someone out of their rightful gold and I think he had a good reason to block you.
I might be an extreme example but it's a matter of principle.

Honestly, it's your fault. If I put something up on the MP, I put it up at that price because I want it to sell at that price. It's incredibly rude to ask someone to lower their price for little to no reason at all. It's none of your business what they want to sell their items at, you either choose to buy it or you don't.

I never PM users about lowering their prices in the MP, whether those prices are reasonable or not. The way I think of it, users who post their items up in the MP don't want to haggle. That's why they place their items in the MP and not in the exchange, and placing items up for unreasonable prices in the MP either indicates a lack of desire for the item to sell (you'd be surprised by the number of users who place their items up in the MP for a reason outside of selling their items) or a completely unreasonable mind on the seller's part. Either way, the chances of you getting a successful bargain out of it are very slim.
So even though the user you're describing probably did react more severely than he should have, and even though how he chose to act probably indicates a lack of maturity on his part, his actions weren't completely unwarranted. If you PM users about their items in the MP, you'd better be prepared for the consequences. There's no point in getting upset over another user's rude response to you when you're effectively walking into their homes without an invitation to do so. It doesn't matter if you're polite about it, you still came in without being asked to.
On a more personal note, I get very irritated whenever I receive a PM or a comment on my profile over an item I have listed in the MP. I find it disrespectful. I'm not usually rude in response to anyone who PMs me about an item in the MP, but I understand why someone would be.

next time I would suggest just waitin it out in the exchange. Ive never experienced anything like that because i dont make a habbit of goin to the MP. I can understand your dismay but i think the person had a right to be atleast annoyed by the PM.

I've not really had that issue. But I have recently (after a stint or two in the CB) had people PM and demand my items. "you don't need it" is probably the rudest I have had. I got one last night that said "Can i have your death whispers, I want them" ... no. scream i find it hard to not rip the shiz out of people like that sweatdrop

Rule #1 ~ NEVER PM anyone to tell them that their price is wrong in any way whatsoever or that it is hard to sell. It only leads to pissing them off.
Why in the world would you do that anyways? If you know you don't want to pay that price for whatever reason, then don't. Just come back later on and see if it has lowered.
Or better yet, make a shop in the marketplace stating that you are buying whatever item at whatever price. You would more than likely find a seller who is in need of quick gold and sell it to you.
Anyhoo, I've gotten PMs from people like that telling me my prices were wrong. I just ignore them.

I never pm people for lower prices since I find it so annoying but once i got a pm from some guy saying he'd pay less than 100k for everything in my shop despite the fact that everything in my shop was worth over 500k. Not even reasonable, just annoying. And not only that, but he was very rude about it, he typed something along the lines of "I'll pay 91k for everything in your shop". No "Hi" or "would you consider" or "please"? I'm not going to sell to you Sir, even if you did have a reasonable price~

Can't say I've had your experience, but that's likely because I would never PM someone to ask him to lower an MP listing.
The MP is just that, a market. People put things up at the price they want to sell. It's not anyone's place to challenge this "asking price". If you think something is inflated, don't buy it. Pretty simple.
I have however, gotten the beggar PM's.
People will see that I've listed more than one of an item in the MP and PM to ask "if I will give them one". I just laugh -- as if having more than one of an item means you must give one to the first person who asks via PM. Right. lol

Oh wow. The general attitude towards "lowered prices please" PMs here is pretty negative... and with reason, since everyone's out to profit. xD
I am slightly more lax, I guess? If I stalk the person and notice they've had a quest thread going for a while for the particular item I'm selling / it's part of their dream avatar outfit, I've given up to 10% off what I listed the item for (through a trade).
But if it looks like they want to profit as well, I more or less tell them to piss off. .-. Whiiich means I probably would've treated the OP the same way. Sorry.

well the one good thing bout overly inflated items, theres a chance that someone has the same item, and that person probably wants to sell it fast....so they put it lower and if you're really lucky..another person will do the same
but if an item is overly priced due to greed...i just say:dammit stressed ..then check the item at another time (like the over priced gaia sama...it was 8mil few weeks ago)
