The spirits had spoken to her.. and spoken to the unsaid maw of hers. She had 'taken' the 'soul' of a particular male. But.. the fire of his soul.. was one to be reckon with... She also took his name. Giving it to the spirits so they could help him accomplish his dream. To become a great knight and protect.. He had protected her since she acquired him. So much dawns ago.. But this day.. she really was in need. In need of a talking for the spirits had nearly pushed her to the brink of death. By starvation. Imamu had been out to see the world.. she brought back a little puppy.. and that puppy had stayed with Imamu since then. Finding others to bring back..

"Elrohir..." She stood up from her sitting at the same spot for about 4 days.. slowly making her way towards the opening of her little den. Her fire was continuous in her den.. Never bothering to cover it up when she left. The spirits stayed in harvest there. Where had he gone.. did his body wonder..without her? Her head rose.. she was used to being away from the family.. but not entirely alone. See.. Since she met Elrohir .. she was never truly alone. But after staying in her den for so long.. she felt .. something.. but couldn't pin point it just yet. No 'seeing' him. Sending him away if he came near.. for the spirits told her so.. But hunger made her delusional. It was almost hitting a week and a half.. and her skin was tightening around her legs.. and ribs.

Her soul felt empty.. her heart. She believed she had none. Elrohir was her minion. The one she could send out to collect her herbs. To collect things for her.. Nothing more than this. Content that the spirits had all over her.. and having all of her they did.. She started to see things.. many things. Believing it was a possession she howled in honor before she was tossing herself from the sides of her den.. Letting her body do as the will of the spirits told her.. Almost going insane. The visions of death to her family.. to everything.. the forest dying. This beautiful lush forest they lived... to ruin.. tripping over the many trinkets they had collected and being tossed right back in to the fire she had never put out.. It burned.. but she couldn't feel it..

The fire silenced under her body.. Only burning with the rocks.. But it silenced her.. her head dropping to one of the hot stones.. engraving the design on half of her face. The night... was cold.

Nanu's head rose.. the mute mother that had cared and seen her kids grow.. and leave as they wished where many remained with and around them. She felt.. her heart skip.. and hard to breath.. She rose her head... A seer. But one that believed the foresight was the destiny of another that with an interaction can be changed. She did not see her daughter.. but she rose.. a bad feeling in her gut.. Looking to Loth as he slept.. lovingly but sad.. before she carefully slinked out.. Tail between her legs as she went out in front of their den.. Wishing she could howl. But her voice.. had not been found yet. A mute.. trying to contact her daughter.. not through voice but heart..

Subira had long ago left that behind.

Elrohir was never far away.

He was not sure why, but being close to the wild dog who had offered him the opportunity to become something great gave him a sense of wellbeing. Of hope. He spent his days seeing to the safety of the little troop, sometimes hoping some danger would fall upon him so that he might fight and win, rising victoriously to claim the title of a true knight.

But that time was not yet, and perhaps that was all for the better. He was not yet fully grown and possibly wouldn't be for a while yet. Perhaps being of such a large litter had stunted the growth of the pups, but he would not know because he did not see his siblings.

But to say he missed them would be a lie.

He liked it here. He had purpose and meaning and he had friends.

As Subira and the other emerged from the den he lifted his head and scented the wind to confirm it was them. He had been lying across from the den, hidden by the hedges that kept the densite hidden. At hearing movement, however, he gave up on his sentry duty and, with a grunt, shoved through the undergrowth to meet them.

"You are well?" He queried politely, lifting both ears.

[ She is alone. Her mother just merely 'felt' her but she is miles away ]

Sadly. He would have only encountered Subira. The all black with a skull bared for a face.. on the floor. Merely her mother.. a few miles away felt her daughter in danger. Or so she felt.

Imamu had left. Her sister.. her twin. Disappeared to find adventure. While Subira was left behind in the den..

Slowly... dark legs tried to lift her body up. Feeling as though it weighed tons. Ears slicked down against her head.. Oh how her burning flesh felt. Shaking ever so slightly.. she lifted herself up to all fours and looked up.. Just dragging herself.. "Something of the sort." She splurred out. He was near.. thank the spirits.

She had not eaten. For a few weeks.. and only drank water very very seldom for the past few days. Starvation made her weak.. and with each passing step out of the den.. it hurt her. She ailed.. and she felt her eyes get moist.. Her stomach as well as her chest felt empty. As though she had no heartbeat. If her mother saw her now.. she would be devastated. The skin upon her sides.. showed her ribs. Those black eyes that looked so distant.

"Knight... where are ...you." She said softly.. and the vibrations of her voice made her retort her head then shake it. Feeling weird.. and absent.

Lifting her head.. and took a few steps before falling down once more.. But this time.. just far to weak to get up. A sigh came from her- almost scared.. but that emotion too. Was gone. Just now blank and looking around to see the familiar gray pelt rise... she couldn't see him.. but her vision was too blurred to realize that he was so close. Another whimper escaped her..

"I am here. Always here." He replied quickly, closing the gap between them in a few hasty steps. He had grown close to this oddly marked one for obvious reasons. She had shown him the way and now he was set on the path of becoming the knight he had always wanted to be, he was going to do everything in his power to make sure he walked down it to the end.

"Subira..." He lowered his head and nudged his nose against her cheek. He worried for her as would be expected. She was his better. His alpha. He a mere follower, awaiting her command.

He did not know what ailed her. Why she would not eat. All he could do was sit by and watch as her condition worsened. Part of him said that he should go for help but he feared leaving her in case some ill fate befell her that he could have prevented.

"Tell me, what can I do?"

That reassuring sentence eased her. For.. some reason and she couldn't much understand it. As if his very presence and she. Not being fully alone.. didn't corrupt her mind. The spirits.. the spirits. Thats all her mind repeated.. but. What about him? She knew not many heard the voice of the spirits.. How could she explain to him..

So many things raced through her head but she was tired.. ears propped up when he said her name.. and a nudge came right after. Affection. When had she last felt.. another's touch. Imamu.. was gone for so long now. She couldn't remember the last time. Maybe ever since she brought that small little pup. The brown one.. she had forgotten the name already.. maybe her head was hurting so bad that it started to blurr everything she knew.

Delusional.

As if she were going crazy in her mind but on the outside everything seemed perfectly right.

"How long... has it been." She said.. but when she said it. She thought. Since I've heard my name.. since I've been touched.. since I've been talked to- to mortals. "Knight...knight.. Elrohir .. Do you know.. of any game near here..? Have you hunted recently?" Why did she feel so lost.. why could she not feel. When she turned her face.. she had.. burned herself.. and pieces of her fur had clung to her ribs like a thin skin.. her flesh had burned. a patch on her side when she fell on the fire. Her snout edged towards him for a moment and poked her nose with his. She was not hungry.. should she be.. eating without the spirits saying so? She turned her face completely to show the burns.. she did not feel. "Maybe I shouldn't eat.. the spirits have not said for me to..I'm not sure.. " Her ears slanted back.. She was not herself... laying down on her good side.. slowly.. was she just gunna wait forever til they said something to her? Would she die like this?

She looked up at him.. With such blank eyes.. Would he let her die.. if she continued like this? Closing her eyes..

Did the spirits turn their back on her?

How long had it been since when? He wondered. He thought on it a moment, seeking an answer that - of course - he wouldn't be able to find. So, instead of a direct reply, he gave a soft whine and nudged her gently again.

He did not understand her at all. Not one little bit. To Elrohir, this female was an ethereal being, more ghost or spirit than real. What went on in her mind he could not even begin to comprehend and now, seeing her suffering, he knew he understood her even less. It worried him because it seemed that no matter how much he wanted to protect her, it appeared that such a task was made in vain.

He saw her wounds and whined; deep, long and low. His eyes - almond-shaped and beautiful - so full of anxiety at seeing her obvious distress and pain.

"My Lady..." He replied softly. "I know nothing much of these spirits but I know what I see with my own two eyes. If you don't eat soon then you will fade away to nothing. I will not let that happen. Not without a fight. I will hunt for you and I will return with food and you shall eat. I will not - no, I cannot - let you suffer any longer." He shook his head, lowering it slowly in a sort of bow. "I will willingly defy the spirits in order to save your precious life, Lady Subira."

'Suffer~~!!!'

As though it was another voice coming out of her before she shook her head. Literately she was going crazy.. maybe it was the hunger. It was something.. Maybe the spirits..

But then an innocent whimper came out..

It was a horrid one.. As though she was sickly. "Knight... " She absorbed his words.. "To defy the spirits is ...pure suicide. They... they will curse you!" She lifted her head and looked at him almost scared even. Such loyalty he had for her.. maybe it was because she collected his soul but this loyalty.. defying spirits. Where did it come from. When she had asked and asked the spirits to give him guideness. When... did he think on his own?

She looked in pain.. which she was.. but rarely did she ever SHOW it. Closing her eyes and looking away from it for a moment. Her skin was sizzling under her.. falling on top of her little fire wasn't the best idea.. But she laid there.. the fire already out as she gave up the thought on moving. "Your loyalty .. is so bittersweet." She said.. rolling it off her tongue as though she was fully indulged in the fact he was doing wrong for her. Laying her head to rest on her paws.. Breathing shallowy.. aching in every place that she slammed herself.

He frowned but did not look at all distressed by her words. His fear of losing her was much greater than his fear of losing himself. Besides, he was a knight. He had sworn himself to her. He would do all in his power to see she lived even if he must sacrifice himself to do it.

"Then let them curse me, I will not leave you to die." The last word was part-choked and, lowering his head he touched his nose to her muzzle again.

"I will fetch food. I will not be long. I promise you that and I have never broken a promise." And with that he turned on his heels and fled as if demons nipped at his heels. He crashed through the undergrowth and out into the meadows where hares startled at his sudden appearance. He gave chase, but too late, and instead he followed the scent of the rabbit colony he knew to be close by. He had often picked up one or two of them as he had come this way.

He reached the place where they lived - their homes dotted along the shallow bank and, with a flood of adrenaline, began to dig his way into one of the more shallow holes. He could hear squeaks and running feet inside. The scent of rabbit grew heavy. His mouth grew wet with hunger and his paws motored on. And suddenly part of the bank gave way, sending clods of earth falling upon the huddle of rabbits within. One adult managed a quick get-away and he ignored their young - barely more than a snack in any case!! He drove his jaws straight at the remaining adult, snapping them tight about its neck and shaking until its spine broke. And then, somewhat fevered, he turned and fled back the way he came, his paws drumming thunder into the earth.

There was no time to waste.

His words. Like swords in her heart.. the one she believed to be non-existent. He didn't know what he was saying.. or did he? She wasn't sure anymore.

'Spirits.. oh spirits.. please take pity on him.. for he has no soul to act upon.. I have taken it. For you.. Is it my punishment?' She asked the ones she talked to. As if she were talking to herself. She closed her eyes.. just for a moment and thats when he touched her snout.. Something.. from the depths of her felt.. warm. It was weird.. and the smell of his pelt swarmed her senses as if rebirthing a dead corpse in to life. Opening her eyes to see he was gone..

As if she slowly intook a breath of death once more.. Becoming .. unemotional but in pain. Which made her slowly.. lift her head.. but it fell to the ground.. A good few minutes.. maybe. Did it take for her to stand... weakly.. The beating she took.. Imaginary but a beating physically from herself.. Drew her energy and now she tried.. so hard as she might.. to get up. And when she did.. it felt as though the wind had breezed her ears words.

...Hush~~~ break bones.. shatter them..

Her ears went back to her skull.. As she used up all the energy to get up. Stumbling.. shaking but she got up. Looking ahead.. "Elrohir ..." She questioned..

'Didn't he go get you food? Right~ Yes. Food. Something your body doesn't need if its a vessel for US to use. Oh use ~use..

"No.. He got me food.. he should.. but he shouldn't." Looking up..to where she was smelling his scent linger.. She walked a few steps.. slowly. Carefully as though she would break at any moment. Aches. But her black eyes.. saw an image of him.. maybe as a mirage of sorts.. "Maybe.... he has become a true knight..If that were the case.. Our contract would be done..." Her voice whispers... raspy.

Tossing her head aside.. Looking down.. Absorbed in the manner.

"He won't be yours no more~ he won't be yours no more~"

The voices in her head were driving her bad but on the outside.. she stood. Weak yet stable.. Moving her head slightly from left to right.. Tail under her body just out of a laz really since she had all her mind warped in her thoughts.. The voices..

"The warmth... the contract.." Her face looked pained from it. A nasty looking burn wound on left side. Some cuts of when she slammed herself in to the walls.. but now she looked. More stable than she was when she inflicted them. She wasn't particularly waiting on his return, instead she doubted. Thought about and dreaded on it. Would she lose the only one that was.. always there for her? When her sister had left?

He had no idea of the torment that his Lady Wild dog was going through. None at all. But perhaps it was best that he didn't, else he might have been to in fear for her to hunt at all.

His eyes rolled in his head as he ran back towards her, paws thundering against the dry ground beneath him. He wanted to pant but it was difficult with the rabbit in his jaws and twice he stumbled, almost crashing face-first into the dusty ground. And then he was literally crashing through the undergrowth, throwing himself into it and tearing through with no hesitation at all. Ears pinned back flat to his head, eyes still wide, breath rasping. He looked like a mad thing, twigs and leaves caught in his ruff and in his tail.

And then he was back with her again, surprised to see that she had moved but somewhat glad that she had found the strength to do so.

He thrust the rabbit at her, his sides heaving as he tried to gather his breath and then he lowered himself to the ground, whining and whimpering and pawing at the offering he had brought in an attempt to encourage her.

"My Lady. Please. Please eat."

Foot steps interupted her thought process.. prematurely as she sunk in with major solutions to the problem at hand. When she looked up.. she saw him. Which made her fall on her butt. Ears back as her black eyes stared at him. Dumbfounded almost as she looked at him. Then followed the rabbit as its body hit the ground. She flinched.. which was something rare indeed. Usually she was fine with kills and bodies being flung around.

She closed her eyes soaking in the body's scent. Death.

Food.. but hunger she didn't feel but knew she needed.. His voice was like. Something of when she first heard the spirits. So luring to her.. something again she had only expirenced then once. Now, Twice. Just like she did with the spirits.. she laid down. From the kill.. she looked to him. Pleading in her eyes.. absorbed and ... trying to know and understand. He had came back to her and even brought back food.. Now to his height level.. and the whining he gave.. the encouragement.. It. touched her..

She nodded. Then slowly did she turn and hesitantly and took the plunge of food.. Taking in a hand full of meat in her maw.. and chowing down. Almost choking in it- but still she ate until the stomach and muscles on top of it were gone.. Huffing..

Then she screamed... and screamed so loud that if it were something ailing her... but for what she was.. It was howls that sounded as though she were dying.. It was that life felt like it was returning from her and she wanted to break out of this shell she had created..but it was just that. There was something wrong. Why couldn't she taste.. REALLY taste instead of have meat just inside her..

'We don't want you- it doesn't matter.. all you are.. is what we will make you.'

She kept barking and howling.

'Thats what you wanted~ thats what you wanted~'

"I DON"T WANT TO BE USED NO MOOOOOOOOOOOOORE!"

....

When she said that... it felt as though something had been lifted.. something on her shoulders for so long.. she wanted to be used by the spirits.. Her sight wasn't on anything particular.. until the felt touch of the knight she remembered and she felt it.. again and again and remembered.. and remembered and replayed it til her maw tasted. Soaking in the taste of the irony meat.. She closed her eyes.. and tears started to fall from her nose then down to her maw..

'I ...can taste.' She thought.. then looked at her knight. "I ...can taste." She announced.. her heart beating so hard against her chest that it felt like it'd burst. Big eyes opened.. tender. Inviting him.. to eat with her.. be with her.. something.. anything.. with her.

He visibly relaxed to see her take the food, but quickly stiffened again as she choked, whining and whimpering and pawing helplessly at the ground in front of her. He just wanted to help her so badly.

To think of life without her...

He shook his head. There was no life without her.

"Take care with it, Subira." He murmured softly. "One bite at a time. That's it." But he was interrupted by her screams and he leapt backwards, fur on end. And he paced back and forth like a trapped, distressed animal. He couldn't help her. He couldn't help her!!

"Subira....Subira...please..." He thought she was dying then. He thought he had been too late to make a difference and already the horrible, terrible guilt was setting in. He didn't want to leave her now. He was her knight! Without her he was just a wandering wild dog again...without purpose. Without anything.

And then her howls of pains became words and he froze completely, eyes wide, sides rising and falling with each quick, panicked breath.

And then she calmed and he was at her side, nuzzling and whining and encouraging as he had been before her cries of pain had driven him back in fear and grief.

And then she spoke.

She could taste.

And his eyes filled with tears of relief and he came to settle at her side, nuzzling and grooming - almost frantically - at the fur around her neck.

"You'll be okay now. You'll be okay." He sounded as if he was trying to convince himself, more than her. "I'm sorry, Subira. I'm so sorry."

His words did not reach her ears.. as though the spirits themselves were taking away all her senses as she dove in to the food.. and when she cried out.. Finally she could take in what he said.. finding him a mute as his maw moved but words did not come out. Til now.

Her eyes were filling.. just filling with tears. For the first time she could taste without being numb. Feel without feeling cold on the inside.. It was all rushing at her. Of the 'mortal' realm. Something the knight and the rest of her family knew, where she on the other hand had missed out on.. Somehow.

Nothing will last forever~ but it would come back.. somehow..
It would come back..

For the time now.. she thought a bliss for she had regained a life that she thought was lost as her mind had fled her. Never imagining.. that she would ever again be used by the spirits. On one hand.. she felt as though she was blessed to have them.. on the other, it felt so good.. to feel warmth. To taste.. To hear the sounds for her own and not for others.

When she realized the knight was next to her... her eyes grew soft.. for the first time. It was like being reliving a new life.. The feeling of his touch.. warm and frail.. Thoughs dark eyes.. now filling in with emotion.. she closed them to take it all in.. Leaning in to him completely and tucking her head under him. "So this ....is what being a full mortal...feels like." Her voice was in gasps.. For the most part. Her ears tucking back as she heard his pleading whines.. his words repeated in to her.. As though waking her inners.

"I'll....be..ok.." As though unsure of the words itself.. and somehow. Being in this position.. under him. Her heart started to wave.. unlike before where she looked at him blankly with eyes only to be of use to her. Now. It looked different. Not even as her body hungered- did the carcass take her away from him.. Almost clinging.. This was all so different. How could she manage to adapt to it all.. it made her.. fear it somehow.. this change that came over her.. "I'll.. be ok." Repeating him as he said it.. to chant to one another.. Rubbing her forehead and right ear against his neck and under chin. Affection.. this is what Imamu used to do to her all the time.. This gesture. She hadn't even realized she was doing it. Could it.. be a start of something new?

He met her eyes, noticing the change in them. They seemed...warmer. They seemed...less distant than they had before and the joy of the realisation flooded through him. And then she closed them and...and leaned against him, tucking her head from sight.

But he heard her words and smiled again, not moving away, being the support for her for as long as she needed him to be. He was her knight, after all, and he would never leave her.

And then she rubbed her forehead against him, against his neck and beneath his chin. He suddenly realised that he'd never been this close to another before. Not really. Not since the day of his helpless pup-hood, pressed against his siblings and his mother's belly. But this was different. Very different. His heart gave an odd little leap and twist and before he could even truly think about what he was doing, he was nuzzling into her, rubbing the side of his face against hers, pressing his muzzle against hers. His tail was now waving softly, a sign of his joy at this kindling feeling in his heart.

Elrohir was happy.

"You will be okay." He confirmed. "And I will never leave you."

It was a weird feeling as though she could FEEL everything. Every second of every moment.. felt so ..surreal. Her ears slowly laid across her head.. and the sun.. was slowly disappearing.. Dawn. Had come and was just about to leave. It was weird and would probably but hard to adjust to. "...Knight.." Her voice very very scarce of breath.

The words 'I'll never leave' just felt like it- in itself had proved true. It warmed her so much.. that her face had probably become a heat lamp against him.

"Have.. you always..felt this warm.." Whispering inside his forearms~ and neck. As though changing the subject. The touches and slight affection he was giving her was overwelming to her. Warm touches.. sweet and tender. Even the rough fur patches and his snout. She could feel it all and like a sponge she absorbed every minute of it.. Such words of leaving. Her sister also said, but now. Where was she at? Out on adventures that Subira.. could not go on. Her tail even curling in.. but just a hint of a skooch over and the pain of her burns kicked in. Wincing just a tad.. Pain- felt as though nothing before this instant. moving to adjust to the pain.

Trying to chuckle fakely. "Are you hungry.....Elrohir.." His name... had she given it back to him? As if his name was so important and that when she said it.. it sent tingling sensations that she still had not ever felt. New- like a newborn pup. "...When have you eaten..You should.. you caught it." Hopelessly innocent in asking. Whispers.. she didn't know to really talk to him. Words were of s strong point when always quiet but now that she was trying to venture and reach. It was too hard and she wanted to retreat the moment she had given the 'concern' over if he ever ate.
