When Stewart-Haas Racing entered its first season last year, the bar was set very low for the team. They soared way past the expectations, even getting both drivers in the Chase. After their superb first season, the expectations were a lot higher coming into the 2010 season. But they have not been performing like they had last year. Ryan Newman sits a fair 14th in points, but 2-time champion Tony Stewart is way back in 18th, which is very unusual for him. And to make matters worse, one of Stewart's two primary sponsors, Old Spice, recently announced that they will not sponsor Stewart through the 2011 season. Stewart will still have Office Depot, and undoubtedly will fill up the holes in sponsorship next season, but that really bites for this team. But focusing on their more short-term struggles, will the team make a U-Turn and get both drivers back in the Chase this year, or will they keep plummeting in the point standings?

I think Tony has a better shot of the two, though I would be surprised to see both of them in the chase.

It all depends on the summer. Remeber Tony has always been a summer driver... he rarely wins before july... but he may be to deep in the points to make it in.

Meh. I've got no sympathy for Stewart. He's got another power house bowtie team in Hendrick equipment and two championships. I think it's high time he fell this deep in the points. Bring on the Roush, Gibbs, and Childress cars instead.

Bring on the Roush, Gibbs, and Childress cars instead. I'm guessing your a tad sour with how poor Fords have been doing this year? Gibbs is doing well with all 3 teams... and the 29 and 31 are doing very well aswell..33 is up and down. However Roush... confused I have to say Ford has been on a downward slope since the middle of 08..but this is just ridiculous...The 17 only shines on the cookies, the 16 just needs a break, Carl is fighting at every track, and I don't see 1 reason why David should be signed again for another year... UPS must be mad..they went from a fledgling RYR... to an upstart MWR which needed more time, to a hit and destroy 6 car... Roush has always been 25% on his rookie candidates being worth while..but these last 3 years he has not made a decent rookie pick aside from Darnel who I guess is still with HOF? Ricky, David, Mike, Colin, Danny the list goes on... of soso drivers Roush picks... its hide time he picks up a better R&D program or find someone who actually knows talent and do the picking for him... Mark said it best the difference between Jack and Rick is time and trust. .... Sorry had to get that off my chest.... stare

I'm not really sure what the hell Jack is doing over there. Nothin' against David Ragen, but going from almost making the chase to being a lame duck the past two years...not really sure where to start with that. That 6 team needs a different driver, and Roush really dropped the ball not going after Kasey Kahne.

Agreed if Roush had kept up with Khane back in 02 and followed suit with him into 04 Not only would Dodge had faltered but he would have been more evened up with HMS in the driver lineup department.
